Been doing Dr Berg Keto for 2.5 years. Started at 110kg down to 75kg in the first year. Had a mass of health problems before keto, most of them vanished or lessened with Keto. Haven't been this fit and healthy for decades. All because of keto.
@vetzaaak
@vetzaaak 5 месяцев назад
All because of keto? Sure it didn't have anything to do with how you cleaned up your diet and kicked a couple of bad snack/alcohol habbits? After a couple months the benefits of a (nearly) zero carb diet wear off, and all you're left with is a socially accepted eating disorder and a clear path to CVD.

You do know that ketogenic diets have vegetables high in fiber, right? You're thinking of a carnivore diet, aka the diet that humans and our ancestors have been eating for over 2 million years without any adverse health effects. The Inuit have been shown to have some of the most diverse and healthy microbiomes ever studied, with absolutely zero fiber, and many people going on a 0 fiber carnivore diet have significantly improved the diversity and health of their microbiome as well. So even if a ketogenic diet were to remove fiber, the benefits that you are espousing don't exist. In fact, many people go from a high fiber ketogenic diet to a zero fiber carnivore diet and significantly improve their microbiomes. As to long-term health outcomes of ketogenic and carnivore diets? The anthropological data is very clear on this, as is the fossil record: when populations move from predominantly hunting to agrarian diets the height and health of the populations decline, with smaller brains, smaller jaws and crooked teeth, poor dentition, signs of tuberculosis in their spines, poor wound healing, and other signs of poor health immediately after turning to agriculture. We see this and the fossil record of ancient populations, and we saw it in real time over the past century with Native North Americans and native Australians. You guys are experts in your field, but this is definitely not your field, and looking into this more closely and carefully would serve you well; not to mention the people that you are influencing on the internet like this. People are going to listen to you as authorities, but you aren't understanding or recognizing the full picture here, so that is going to be misleading for people and point them down the wrong path. Happy to discuss sometime if you like.

I lost 125 lbs. over three years doing Keto. I saw my doctor once a year. Each time, my blood pressure was lower, and I was eventually taken off one of my HBP meds, my EKGs improved, and my metabolic syndrome disappeared as well. I have kept the weight off for two additional years.

Wow, the misinformation and ignorance from these doctors are astounding. On the keto diet, you have plenty of vegetables and we'll get plenty of fiber to feed your gut microbiome! I've been on the keto diet for years and always ate the wide variety of vegetables. This is why people have such a distrust in doctors. The gut microbiome does not need 9 to 12 cups of vegetables to sustain itself either. Incorporate variety, and the bacteria are more than satisfied.

🤣🤣🤣 who should we listen to a random person on the internet of Doctors who back up what they are saying with scientific research. I know who I listen to. I eat carbs all day everyday . I am 5’3 and weigh 109 and I am in perfect health. Everyone I know that did keto has terrible cholesterol, high blood pressure and kidney damage. Oh and yes let’s talk about Dr Atkins who was an advocate for Keto diet and died of a heart attack due to clogged arteries. I will keep my carbs like all of Europe does. We live longer and don’t get obese on a carb diet.

@@ShopStylebymeyou also have better quality food in Europe. The vast majority of food in the US is highly processed. You said people you've known on keto have high cholesterol, heart problems, high BP, and kidney damage. Did those things occur before they switched to keto or after? I'm willing to bet it was before. Your cholesterol should increase on keto because you are eating more foods that would increase it. However, did you know you have two types of cholesterol? HDL and LDL. One is good, one is bad. Did you also know that you don't get the full story with a standard cholesterol test? That's because cholesterol can be broken down further. Bad cholesterol specifically has 4 types ranging from very small to large. The smaller sizes are the ones that stick to the inside of your veins that catch more cholesterol causing plaque build up which leads to clots. I can even link a video if you like to a doctor that explains this. In the end keto works for a lot of people even babies (because they drink milk which causes them to be in ketosis), but it's not for everyone. Doesn't mean it's bad

@@ZekSanchez I don't recall which video I watched. I've been researching carnivore and keto for a little over 1 1/2 years now and it was a breakdown video I ended up seeing. There are several now. I also know that my mother and uncle have switched to keto. My mom's prediabetic and her sugar has steadily been dropping to a normal level and my uncle who has been a long time type 2 diabetic that takes 3 shots and a pill with frequent spikes to 400+ in blood sugar has had to stop taking his meds because it's been making his sugar plummet

Yes keto has its benefits and its issues. The main pros are getting rid of the bad stuff like sugars, refined carbs and processed foods which will make anyone lose weight and feel better. Its just too much fat and not enough fruits and vegetables
@Peter-mj6lz
@Peter-mj6lz 9 месяцев назад
@@TalkingWithDocsI actually had a fair share of vegetables but probably not enough fiber or food variation. I recently ended it as it was working for about 3 months but I suddenly had diarrhoea for about 3 weeks. As soon as I had carbs again I noticed I could exercise for longer but would also feel more tired after workdays though I was also able to use more energy at work. Now I’m questioning the intuitiveness of keto, I’m not against it, but I doubt it is the ideal diet if you constantly have to check electrolytes and digestive issues happen on it.

Doing a keto diet to lose weight and living a permanent keto lifestyle are two different things. Plus keto doesn't need to be low fiber; I eat lots of spinach fried in butter and garlic, lots of steamed broccoli topped with melted parmesan and cheddar cheese. You can still get lots of fiber by cutting out carbs. Though I suppose my diet is not strictly 'keto' as I don't get 60-70% of my calories from fat. I suppose I'm more of a 'use as much cheese, butter and olive oil as you like for flavor and to reduce hunger cravings, and eat a veggie centered menu with lots of protein (without cutting off the skin and fat), but zero carbs (so no fruit, potatoes etc either)', which is probably not strictly keto.

It's almost like some people are using this diet in order to avoid vegetables. I know some veggies have a lot of carbs but people actually need carbs to some extent. Especially very active people, like those who run marathons, play sports, etc. I see some on this diet drinking a lot of energy drinks. And I mean a lot! So is there some correlation between no carbs and no energy? Of course there is! So this could be the start of something very unhealthy. If someone isn't getting any carbs from veggies, pasta, etc, they don't have the energy or stamina for physical activities. This is actually something I'm noticing. And I'm seeing it in younger people (under 30). Also, all beverages are not just sugar free but zero sugar. And I don't even want to get into that part of bad. It just seems like this is a trip down the wrong road. Instead of eating a balanced diet, it's just massive amounts of meat (and other proteins), 'zero' beverages and an unhealthy amount of Monster drinks. And the person I see doing this probably has a near perfect BMI! (and they've never been heavy, fat or noticably overweight) I really wish they would do more extensive studies on the long term effects of a Keto diet! It's almost like some people are obsessed with this diet! It just seems like an unhealthy obsession. Especially when you factor in the artificial sweeteners and energy drinks! And please don't tell me that this person should consult with his doctor because if he had done that, this diet wouldn't have been suggested or recommended.🤨 Thanks for sharing another great video!👍
