@@juliusjustin4813 For peace with DPF issues... Go for 2009-2016 model years. But if you want the best of the Paj, get the latter to final editions... That's 2017-2020... That will give you the updated interior and more electronic functions...
Props on the good review, but to get a few things out.... 1. The Pajero has a monoqoque that sits on a ladder sub-frame which makes for both good on road and off-road abilities, this gives you the best of both chassis design 2. Due to that design, it makes it a bit heavier than the Prado hence the 10-11km/l figures. 3. The VXL is best compared to the GLX Exceed (Australian Markets) since that is the top trim of the Pajero. Also to note is that Top trim equipment of various vehicles vary with market designation i.e. the African Market VXL's and Australian market VXL's (Kakadu) are not the same equipment-wise. 4. On off-road capabilities, the Pajero offers better wheel articulation than the Prado. The only downside is the ground clearance which can be sorted by aftermarket lift-kits. 5. On the on-road situation, it's best to note that since the Prado sits, higher, it rolls and yaws on the road more hence not a very comfortable ride. 6. Lastly, we need to understand that due to the lack of the Pajero's much needed revisions and updates, a lot of it's perceived updates are due to the need to stay relevant to its class competitors and safety authorities. Thank you.
@@wesleymogaka On a good day I can do upto 13km/l. That's normal highway driving at revs below 2500rpm on 2H. 4H gets me about 10-11km/l....i have a light foot. In built up areas I do about 7-8km/l or worse...
@@gzdcn The body of the Paj sits on separate axle subframes... This makes it easier to do wheel articulations off-road mimicking a ladder chassis SUV. The only downside to it is when you decide to do a lift mod to the vehicle, you'll have to drop the subframes....
I follow your content, but one thing I know for sure is that your review was about comparison with the prado, and didn't get to know more about the pajero, I like the pajero because of its steadiness, but again most people who buy these cars don't really look after the cost of fuel consumption or cost of service parts, for me I would opt for the pajero over the prado because it's appealing to me regardless of others option, however I would also differ with your review on off road, we need to see it doing offload.i have seen pajero reviews been driven offroad and what I can say they are both equal to the task.we should come out of the Toyota mentality, because we are importing cars which are cheaper abroad and sold to us at higher prices
At the time of the release of the second generation, 4M41, it made more power than the GD then (2015). GDs were rated at 177bhp and 450nm. Secondly, that updated GD came out around 2021.
I onced raced a VW golf gti from East London to umtata in South Africa against this car but one thing for sure is , this car is a beast and speeds like hell
Pajero anytime when compared to Prado. If well serviced it’s reliable ,stable & gives you peace of mind. How many Pajs have you seen overturned or crashed on the highways compared eg to Prado TX?😊
How many old pajeros do you see around. This car is a headache once it ages. Major headache. No way you can compare the reliability of the prado to this.
@@ilikepremios.amanofunofhyb4751 to be honest,,im a fan of both the j150 and the pajero n being someone who is always on the road, the pajero is more reliable
I don't know about you guys but I guess in my opinion, one, I think we need to here separate opinions from each of the guys (maybe even individual drives). Two, the team is so awesome one guy is specific on comfort (SI unit), other guy luxury (shotgun) and wokabi is more off load oriented. I would love to here segments besed on each segments and have each guy talk based on their specialist. Anyway love the show always clicking on the alerts eagerly awaiting
I enjoy the reviews and there are many good and helpful things you said here. But I think you seemed a bit biased towards the Prado - not that it is a small car or anything. Regading offloading capability with its independent suspension, the Paj is very comfortable and capable compared to a Prado its age. Alafu, we used the V80, but it is worth noting that there are different Paj variants, with a wide range of engine capacities, hp and torque and they may influence part of the review differently. All in all, kazi poa na safi.
I liked the Mitsubishi Pajero because it was a cheaper and better option to the Toyota Land-cruiser Prado. The Pajero seized production many years ago sadly, because neither its former owner Mitsubishi or current owner Nissan bothered to update it. An updated Mitsubishi Pajero could easily have shared the same ladder chassis that is the Nissan Patrol.
The Pajero beats the Prado both in off-road capability and on-road stability for the simple reason that the Pajero features a rear independent multi-link suspension while the Prado has a rear solid axle beam. The Pajero is actually also more reliable than the Prado.
On off road in Africa remember that the last 7 years of the event held in Africa 2001-2007 were all won by the Mitsubishi Pajero. As others are writing, the reviewer is underrating this car. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dakar_Rally
Funny how long it took you guys to put up the rear seats. The only time I've struggled with it was when removing the headrest after having it set up for a lengthy time. Otherwise it takes about 15-30 seconds to put up the seats - Very easy setup and what I like the most is that when it is down then it does not affect the cargo space at all.
I never uderstood car reviewer complaining about how long something take to do in a car... If you own the car for few months, thing will be done in only few seconds....
very nice car infotainment system the best, fuel consumption si mbaya, very stable car pia apo kwa suspension iyo gari ikiwa ofroad inatingika sana n pia same problem as the prado has a very unreliable break pump imetukufia na 65k kilometer bwana na spare yake ni ufanye mchango inaumiza mfuko😂😂
Looks are subjective... I think as a whole it iis more interesting than the blander Toyota. Secondly, it has an integrated ladder frame undergirding the monocoque chassis,,,same as the outgoing Discovery, so it tough too. ..All on all, a lovely show... Keep it up
Nice and honest review. Having driven both the Pajero and J150, I can easily say that the only way the PAJERO outshines the J150 is on-road stability and infotainment. The Pajero ni tinga tinga kwa mlima but it's 4wd is superb.
15.76 seconds? 0-100? You made me go out and actually do it. Twice. I got 12 and 11 seconds. I don’t know if it’s the tools you were using but that reading was off. This review I think was heavily biased towards the J150 which I have nothing against btw…
It could be our inclination that makes the difference in 0-100, on biased in favour of the J150 I don't think so. It would be fair to share instances where you feel the J150 was wrongfully favoured against the Pajero
Iam also a Pajero die-hard but I would love to have these vehicles get an off road challenge like slippery surface like gravel, then mud ,,I bet we shall have clear figures ,coz for I hv crossed a stretchin 3.0 litre Pajero wea a land cruiser guy parked aside
@@CARNVERSATIONS In most other reviews you mention constantly the value for money the vehicles have versus what they deliver. It honestly felt like the comparison for two equally priced vehicles. I agree with most of what you say in the review don't get me wrong but it does portray the Pajero in a somehow negative light as compared to the J150. It's actually a complete turn around to the first Pajero review you did
Review a car for its practicality and features. Prado vxl was the SI unit to review the Pajero. If you want to compare have the two together side by side. On this one, justice has not been done to this vehicle.
You researched poorly on this car.Its engine churns out 200hp and 441nm torque from 2013,and 165hp 350nm of torque for the earlier version. The middle version produced 175hp and 380nm torque.A Prado 1kd-ftv churns out 170hp and 410nm torque, while the 1gd-ftv churns out 178hp and 450nm torque. All engines get a 10 kms/l fuel econ on highway drives. The Pajero wins considering the price point.Research well in future, otherwise you sound too biased.
Interesting review. The 1KD-FTV, and the more recent 1GD-FTV engines are obviously the strong points in the Prado - incomparable to the Pajero. I am surprised the Pajero did not get a 6-speed transmission. The Pajero Sport has exceeded it with an 8-speeed auto gearbox. However, the Pajero is legendary. It has served its time very well. A good first choice substitute for the Prado!
Wrong! The Pajero churns out more power than the 1gd prado from 2013.It also churns out equal torque to the Prado.Considering the price difference of Ksh.2m,I'd rather buy the Pajero with that money.
Great review, and a commendable research. we appreciate your work. Please consider a focus on such most underrated SUVs. On the flip side, take notice on the suspension of all Pajero variants., and stability. Please we await a full review on Pajero IO in it's original make. Great unbiased reviews!!!
The Pajero is more superior off-road and On-road. Erick got this review wrong when he started saying production is from 2006, the Pajero is a legend whose production started in 1981. Better research please. This thing won the Paris-Dakar for years until they got tired of winning, it’s off-road creds are legendary.
@@CARNVERSATIONS hapa you failed in research, no mention of the superior rear independent multi-link suspension that makes this thing legendary and better both on and off-road.
@@CARNVERSATIONSAlso wokabi you need to understand the local assembly 3l VXL had less power than this, generates 173ps/410NM Pajero has 190ps/441 Nm. The newer versions from 2015-2022 has power output of 177/450nm which is means the shogun is technically more powerful than VXL. I think Erick you need to get the numbers right. It's all over the internet so it's not difficult to find.
You missed something on this show. The four wheel drive is engaged by an electric actuator at the gearbox . This means the gear nob is just a switch just like the Prado.
Nice review. But I have noticed Mbugua needs a different mic technique or something, I always have to increase my volume when he is giving his opinions.
aki eric,... I have never understood your problem with nissans man. I have owned a second hand nissan march cvt for several years and never had an issue man. I'd really like to buy you lunch uniambie ni nini nissans zilikufanyia
Bro, the only thing you went wrong about this car is your underestimation of it offroad. Not having so many features or so much buttons to press meaning you are better. We know what traction means when you push the car to it's limit. Eg: the old Land Rover 110 doesn't have so much features as in traction but it's still one of the best up to now, can't even compare it to the prado 150 you are talking about. The best of what the Pajero is known and respected about is it's TRACTION but that is what you underrated. I don't know,...
😂ive had 2 Pajeros 94 and now 2012 3.2 td Looks are for the individual Pajero hands down wouldn't touch a Prado too expensive to service and too expensive to buy 🤪🤪🤣🤣far rear seat to install you are useless can be put up in 20 seconds Best Diesel best auto transmission (super select 4WD)
