Well Well Well Mozambique !!! Such a beautiful country. I came here in 2013 and fell in love with the beauty of this country but it breaks my heart into pieces as i decide to close my business and say goodbye forever to this country, my friends, beloved clients and my ever supporting employees. I am seriously done with corruption here, nothing seems to be easy here in this country. They keep making it tough for strangers, you had to get 3 or 4 visas issued right? Can you imagine us working here dealing with Government's institutions is a serious pain and the time they take for simple things is beyond one's imagination. They really need to do something to minimize if not stop corruption in this country. What a beautiful place with lots of good friendly people. I see a lot of foreigners loosing their patience and if there are more people like me closing their businesses just imagine number of people loosing their jobs. Alone my Company is employing more than 60 locals here. I feel so bad for them!

Damn the way you structured that comment really immersed me in the “Mozambique experience” You lost your family members… along with “everything” and just casually say it in passing, in a RU-vid comment on a traveling channel. Really gives the whole “human life isn’t really a big deal over there in good ol Mozambique”

Hi, Peace! I am Robert, an American.. I was thinking of buying something in Mozambique in the near future.. Anyway, I came across your video and I just subscribed after watching.. I appreciate your efforts, I think it's great and wonderful! You're so brave and strong you and yours! Wonderful attribute to have as a women! Very patient you guys are, I don't know how patient I could be... I was thinking of partly retiring there in some years to come... I am interested in your story, you and your family... Well, very nice to meet you!!! (If you read the reply) While checking this video out I noticed, like a lot of places, Internet is spotty, electricity is spotty, the people of Mozambique need in general various training... I wonder if the government or the cities would help fund for teaching various job skills or special skills, in order to help the culture grow??? (Have you seen any of this in your travels through Mozambique and Malawi???) I think if I partly retire there and buy a decent place, I would love to give to the country in that way, what do you think??? Great Video sis!!! Peace, power and prosperity, Love, and Joy to you and yours!!!! Respectfully, Robert
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders 5 лет назад
Hi Robert, Have you checked out other countries too? I'm not sure I would make this my home but I guess it all depends on what it is your looking for. We're working on a couple videos that will be launching in the upcoming months with different ideas for places to retire and why we think they would be good. Is there a reason you're looking at Mozambique? I'm really not too sure about the government funding but I do know in Malawi, almost all the people we met there were working with different organizations and causes. Thanks for the nice wishes. All the best to you and yours as well!
@masonic777
@masonic777 5 лет назад
I know what you mean, it's (Mozambique) a bit low functioning in many ways as it is now, accept in the capital! So to speak.. I was looking at property there on the beaches and I love the beaches, looks and the fact it's right across from Madagascar, which is such a healthy ocean and farming, fruit and veggie, herbs growing area!!! I guess you're correct in a way, but as a man it seems to be a great opportunity to buy a decent beach property at a fair price and have a place in Africa, making, (Heritage, Children, family thinking in that way) as an African descendant in America, full circle for my little 6 year old son and possibly other future children of my family, if you get my drift... I am originally from N.J., but my descendent's originate from Cherokee and Mohawk indigenous people in North America to Ireland, to the Caribbean and in the beginning all the way back to West Africa... So ancestrally, I feel a spiritual yearning to recreate or reattach my family lineage back to the land, and if lucky be able to give in some way back to the people where ever I get too in Africa... So, I see you guys made it to Europe as well.. I have lived & traveled a little there as well... I guess you guys and I have a spiritual yearning! I think it's a great way to climb higher and super, well supremely wonderful for our children!!! (I didnt see your husband on that video, is he alright??? (He didn't get sick or hurt in your travels?) You guys only speak English/ American correct? (That's my only thing, is should I teach myself Portuguese?, Ya know) *For retirement in the years to come what I wanted to do, well in my mind, is to keep a condo or small home in Florida and someplace in Africa and visit some places like Thailand and Dominican Republic.. I have other ideas like a farm, actually saw some nice small farms with acreage in Swaziland.. Just thinking out loud, I'm an out of the box thinker and doer and a great researcher and I'm spiritual, so just striving to follow my inner light, ya know!!! ;-D Thanks for writing back, I do appreciate you for that! (Many people don't tell others appreciation, thank you or anything ethical anymore, but I like to always keep that heart lite as a feather, outweighing the negative in the scales of life (Egyptian/ Kemetan)... ;-D Well, you get time write back, I think it's awesome to communicate... Peace, Power and Prosperity sis!!!

Sorry, but Injustice against white Portuguese? Are you sure? How could this be? Could you please explain to me please? I have a part of my family from Africa (probably from Mozambique or Angola) and another part of my family are Portuguese and Dutchmen and I have never seen whites in Brazil suffer (reverse racism and injustice does not exist). What we have is a great injustice against blacks for years in the history of Brazil. In addition to all the suffering you can imagine at that time (some blacks would rather kill themselves than live it), they still suffered after the end of slavery, as whites did not give them jobs, preferring to immigrate white Europeans, Asians and Arabs to work in factories, etc. Portugal also brought everything bad from Portugal to Brazil as its convicted prisoners: thieves, murderers, prostitutes and all sorts of people reneged by Portuguese society (one of the explanations of where corruption in Brazil come from), but that was better than giving jobs to black people. Blacks in Brazil have been less than 20 years old who have entered college, and there are still few who can. I never really saw injustice against the Portuguese, I really wanted to know how it was? After centuries of colonization in Mozambique, exploitation of land to enrich Portugal, blacks kidnapped to work as slaves in lands discovered by the Portuguese, it was obvious that independence would come and there would be a revolt of the people against whom they were colonizing. One hour everything bursts, like any history of independence from any other country. (Then people die, others are expelled and etc.). I do not know the whole history of colonization of Mozambique, but perhaps the injustice you see against the Portuguese were years of suffering of this people that broke out years later. Every action has a reaction.

I think it was $50 USD each of I remember correctly and we had to pay with $50 or $100 bills. What nonsense because in the end they took a combination of $20’s, 50’s and 100’s. Go figure.

Africa is corrupt. You have small bills, they will ask for large. You have large, they ask for small. Officials get a cut from the informal traders. Hard to believe Mozambique was once similar to the European riviera. Thats Africa for you. We have a saying in ZA. TIA - This Is Africa. now you get the phrase "african time". ZA is way more advanced than the rest of Africa but slowly degrading. Sad

Typical naive American traveller. Know very little about southern Africa before u came. Shoprite is a supermarket chain found in SA, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, etc. Dont even know name of the currency of Mozambique even tho u travelling there, its the metical.
