Is the NEW 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition WORTH IT?

I’ve driven one of these. The drive was like no other SUV. The seats hugged me in all the right places and the engine made me want to go faster.

I totally agree that LR knows how to make headlights work for them by projecting that RR aura.

Range Rovers look good, and that’s about it

Sometimes I think these fancy brands make crappy cup holders because they are hinting that you shouldn’t be drinking anything in these hella expensive moving museums . 🤣

Bought a lease return 2020 Range Rover Velar HSE R Dynamic with 380 HP and 0-60 in 5 seconds last August that was 87k MSRP and paid 69k with 4200 miles. Not have 8300 miles and no issues. Still have 2.5 years warranty left. I was worried about reliability but so far no issues and drives great. Mine stands out as it is black with 22 inch wheels and black wheels. Has the badge delete and red accents on hood vents, front end and around above back hatch glass area. Never seen one with the accents and badge delete like this.

SVR owner here. This is a good review. However, it completely ignores the INCREDIBLE option of driving the SVR in fully manual transmission mode using the stick shift. I have never driven mine in automatic !! This car can be driven just like a late 1960s muscle car that had a Hurst shifter. The reason I bought mine was because I wanted a stick shift. With this car you have three (3) driving options: automatic, paddle shift (manual), and stick shift (manual). Brilliant !!!!

Great review Joe. FYI for the next Range Rover Sport you review, I believe there is a “secret storage compartment” under the cup holders. Remember the little spot you said you could use for keeping toothpicks? That slot is designed for you to put your fingers in and push the cup holders forward to reveal the secret storage underneath for your secret stash of twinkies 🤣

Land Rovers are some of the best off roaders you can get. I own one and it's always on the side of the road.

The SVR is a beast! I have a 2021 RR Sport HST and love this brand. While gorgeous, I’m not too sure about those 24s…could be a headache on some surfaces.

Most of the ones I’ve seen were in the shop being repaired nothing but high end repair vehicles

There's a deep compartment space under the front cup holders. You forgot that. Another one is the buttons on the steering wheel change options (touch screen).

At 19:14 the transmission didn’t kick down. It stayed in 2nd. Wasn’t dramatic but I guess the computers thought it wasn’t necessary to kick down to 1st. Also, I drove one of these. A very satisfying vehicle. Definitely got on throttle a few times.

Not a big fan of rovers but man oh man I'd love to have this.

I have a friend up here in Montreal that sells Land Rover. He always takes several key FOBs with him in winter if he has to take a potential client for a test drive because 1/2 the time they don't start. When you find one that works you should never sell it.

We were using TFT screens on laptops some 30 years ago. The whole cockpit and infotainment should be OLED in 2021. Doesn’t matter though, as this thing will be in the dealer service bay most of the time anyhow. 😝

Just looking at the engine bay conveys the fact that at no point during the design of this vehicle did anyone ever say "...no, that would cost too much---use the cheaper one or leave it out..." I looked through those brake cooling ducts and there is airflow sculpting on the inside of them. Who else is that insane about quality and detail? Maybe Porsche? OMG the sound; I closed my eyes and it sounds like the Mach 5 when Speed Racer is pushing down on the pedal with his foot. 295/30/24----I've owned 25 different cars and not one of them has ever had even one of those numbers in the tire size let alone all three! To me this thing is like the new RS6; such an exquisite example of modern mass manufacturing that I'd buy it and never drive it---just park it in the garage and look at it from time to time like fine art.

Jaguar F PACE SVR is the same car, fraction of the price. Sounds just as good, lighter and a bit quicker. But the If you must want the Range badge, this will be the one to buy.
