Is the NEW 2022 Kia Stinger GT-Line a better sport sedan than a BMW 330i? 

As much as I really love the GT2 I can't justify the over $50k price tag but this is more comprable and still get 300 HP. Been loving all of the Stinger reviews!

let me say this for the GT Line: 1) this new 2.5L engine is not the equal of the 3.3 V6T engine, but its also not the old 2.0 engine either. Once it gets on boost, it does pull reasonably well. 2) this car gets much better fuel economy (something to think about given recent gas prices) 3) 18 inch wheels vs 19 inch means cheaper tires 4) no Brembo brakes, but still good sized brakes (Cheaper to replace... Trust me on this one ) 5) lower insurance 6) the car looks basically the same as the V6, save the wheel size/design 7) It will hold just as many Little Debbie snack cakes/Twinkies/Skittles as the GT version 8) it's cheaper

I have the gt line white AWD with red interior! I love it don’t need a v6 it’s perfect for me!

I just bought this car a month ago. It turned so many heads that I put 800 miles on it in just 8 days. I would deliberately drive around town with no destination. It's just such a solid car and the power makes it even harder to get put of it. The Harmon Cardon sound system is so good. Love my new Stinger GT-Line 💕

12:14 A sunroof actually IS available as an option on the GT-Line with the "Sun & Sound" package. Problem is if you just want the Harman Kardon premium sound without the sunroof, that's not possible.

I just took my GT-Line on a cannonball run from Denver to Alamogordo, NM and back-a good mix of mountain roads and desert straight-aways-this is a phenomenal car for the money; I don't miss my BMW/Audi's AT ALL.

Looked at a GT2 a few months back. Truly a beautiful car. This one is pretty sweet as well, but if I was going to consider a Stinger I would go GT2. Love all your reviews. I’ll be much wiser now choosing my next vehicle because of it. Thanks Joe and Lori for the daily reviews.

I genuinely don’t think I’d be able to pick between this stinger and a G70. They’re both gorgeous and great performance. The stinger refresh really made the choice hard to make!

I got the GT line and it's AMAZING! I can't beleive a 4 cylinder is this powerful and fast. I'd be dead if I had the 6 cylinder. Plus it's 15,000 dollars more for 2 more pistons. Crazy.

I’ve watched enough of his vids to where I know where to skip for the information I want to hear. I do go back and watch the whole thing though.

I have this car. All you have to do to get better throttle response is put it in sport mode. you never even mentioned the drive modes. Difference in 0 to 60 from the v6 is .5 seconds. Car is plenty quick for most driving situations. Ride and handling are excellent. It's a GT car not a sports car. Build quality fit and finish are way better than Mustang and Mopars. To pay almost $20,000 more for a GT2 to me makes no sense unless you have $$ to burn

In California you can get the GT line California special in the GT line with sunroof and Karmon Hardon sound . It’s a nice upgrade.

KUdos for reviewing the GT-Line Stinger. Some comments... () Comparing the Stinger to sport sedans such as the BMW 3/4 series and the G70 is misleading. The Stinger is a true GT (Grand Touring) vehicle in the European mold. Handling designed to be nimble on twisting European backroads, many of which were originally laid down by the Romans 2000 years ago, and with sufficient performance to carry 4-5 passengers and their luggage/gear comfortably for hours at a time on meticulously maintained highways at speeds well over 100 mph. Americans are typically not familiar with such vehicles where the "GT" badge is applied to 2 door coupes with massive engines and cramped interiors such as the Mustang. Vehicles comparable to the Stinger aren't European sport sedans like the BMW 3 series, much less coupes like the Mustang. They're liftback GT sedans like the Audi A5, the A7, or particularly the VW Arteon that shares many of its features, its size, and its price. () Despite sharing a platform and many components comparing the Stinger GT-Line model to the Genesis G70 4 cylinder version is particularly misleading. The Stinger's new 2.5Lturbo 4 can't be found in the Genesis G70 where the 2.0L turbo engine the Stinger had previously shared with the G70 is still found in the Genesis. (A fact that Joe appears to be unaware of.) () Many Americans consider "performance" to be measured by 0-60 mph and quarter mile acceleration on flat, straight pavement, ideally accompanied by smoking tires and a deafening exhaust note. Those aren't appropriate metrics for a European style GT. Even so, though, the new GT-Line Stinger's improved straight line acceleration is noteworthy. 5.2 seconds from 0-60 puts the GT-Line only about half a second (!) behind the V6 twin turbo Stinger and leaves the Genesis G70 in the dust with the latter's 0-60 times only a bit quicker than the previous 4 cylinder Stinger (6.9 seconds) in the mid 6 second range. Bottom line? The 2.0L Genesis is a slug compared to the GT-Line Stinger. () As Joe notes, the base version of the GT-Line lacks the sunroof and upgraded 15 speaker sound system that are standard or optional on the upper GT1 and GT2 trim levels. But those features are available as part of the $2300 "Sun and Sound" option package for the GT-Line. () All in all, the GT-Line Stinger is a huge bargain. A fully loaded (with the "Sun and Sound) AWD version has an MSRP of $40,590 plus delivery and TTL. That's a full $5300 less than a comparable GT1 V6 twin turbo model. The GT1 boasts 19" (vs 18") wheels and some superior suspension bits but lacks the 15 speaker sound system of the GT-Line (That comes with the GT2 model with an MSRP over $53,000) . If straight line performance is a high priority it means paying over $5000 for half a second quicker 0-60 time. That's not the only comparative advantage of the GT-Line Singer . Compared to a fully loaded FWD KIA K5 GT a comparably equipped RWD GT-Line has the same 2.5L engine, significantly more upscale amenities, and the versatility of the Stinger's lift back design. The MSRP of the Stinger is $38,390, only $2655 more than the K5 GT and lacking the wheel hop and torque steer of the K5 (that lacks an LSD, a major deficiency in an FWD vehicle) when power is applied to the pavement. Add AWD to the Stinger that's not available at all on the K5 for $2200 more. Finally, compare the GT-Line Stinger to a top trim Camry or Accord neither of which offers either AWD or RWD and the Stinger again looks like a bargain for a midsize sedan.

Raiti’s the best out there for car reviews

If you are 25 years old and like to drag race you will need the six cylinder engine. If you are mature and reasonably sensible then the four cylinder with 300 horsepower will get you there in a hurry. I have one of these for four months and it is a delight. You've got comfort, handling, and speed, plus it looks great especially in ceramic silver. I should warn you, there is something about this car that makes you want to modify it at least a little. These babies are few and far between, but if you hurry you can still get one before they are all gone.

I think most people prefer analog gauges, i know i do.

Absolutely love your reviews. I even watch some of your reviews of cars I have very little interest in. I love the 2022 Stinger GTLine. Plan on purchasing one with AWD. At my age, I don’t feel I need to jump up to the GT1 or GT2. This one has enough of everything to suit my needs. Keep up the great reviews, and I love Lori’s camera work. She stays right with you and really makes these videos work. As a friendly suggestion, try loading some of the door pockets with Peanut Chews, they’re a great driving snack!!! 😋

I wish you could equip the GT-Line with a GT1 or Premium package to make it as nice on the inside as the GT2 bc I'm okay with the base engine, but I want features from the GT2 trim like the ventilated front seats, the 360° camera system, the bigger 7" gauge cluster display, the better Harman/Kardon sound system from the Sun & Sound package, the multicolor ambient lighting, the Blind Spot View Monitor, & the other luxury & tech features that come standard with the GT2 trim

I just got a new GT Line and I love it. I traded my 2020 G70 with 6040 miles on it and I have no regret. The GT Line is a step up from the G70.

Still my favorite Kia vehicle out of the lineup!

7:00 I think all the companies see it as a design element vs a fake vent. It honestly looks better than flat black here. On the sides of the car and such where it could be functional is in bad taste. Also I know …no one cares about the Infiniti but with 300HP it’s worth discussing…you can catch a Q50 on a deal and go lower years because the design hasn’t changed lol

I just purchased me one in black and red interior, I love this car so much I just wish it had some ambient lighting and better brakes. Btw for those debating if this car isn't fast enough, trust me you'll be satisfied with what it has to offer. I'll definitely going with a different break and exhaust system though.

The stinger's interior felt way more expensive than the g70 I was impressed. Nothing but respect for the stinger needs 50 more hp and torque to be perfect, but an awesome car.

I just ordered my 2022 GTLine. It will be ready for delivery in March/April 2022!

My wife and I use our daily commuter to carpool, as our respective jobs are within 4 miles of each other. So my one regret about a missing feature in the GT Line that's present in the GT2 is the power driver's seat and mirrors with 2 driver position pre-sets.

Sportback is better than suvs! But stinger needs a 6 speed manual

I have this exact car but with the red interior and Sun and Sound package. I love it. Definitely a powerful engine vs the 2.0 and a lot of tech.

I can't wait to get my kia stinger later this year. I'm thinking about getting all wheel drive but either one is fine. Love the new headlights and bigger screen.

You mentioned that awd was newly available on the Stinger GT-Line for 2022. I was under the impression that ever since being introduced in 2018, the Stinger has been available with awd in all trims. I would personally choose rwd though for the weight savings. I sure wish they would have paired that 8spd DCT with the 2.5T on the Stinger, just like they did with the K5 GT. Not a fan of the new wheel design.

Just a heads up, the GT-Line has an optional Package that includes the Sunroof. This package also includes the Upgraded High End Stereo and Power Passenger Seat.

This man is very thorough. He even lets you know what kind of Jolly Rancher's flavor is best suitable for that storage compartment. 👍

For the price, go gt line and option the sunroof and sound package!

I gotta say, looking at the GT line versus the GT, considering the fact that the horsepower gap has been reduced dramatically, I would save about $!6k and go for the GT-Line versus the GT... best deal in the business, IMHO. Oh, and much better MPG's. Sold.

Kia says the plastic in the front is for the radar sensor so when u get into a fender bender the plastic can be cheaply replaced instead of the whole radar sensor which is housed further back in the vehicle

Just love the Stingers! After living with my new GMC, I've become accustomed to the initial lag, (which you can bypass if you're thinking a bit lol) so this would be about my perfect sedan. There's so much going for it, that it far outweighs the few zonks. Love that colour and the rims, as well. Great review, Joe! Thank you for another great video, Lori. You really treat us well!

FYI its not an apples to apples comparison to the G70. For some stupid reason the G70 did not get the upgrade to the 2.5 engine. It still has the turd 2.0. It baffles me that Hyundai would put the better base engine in their economy brand and not their premium brand.

GT-line with apex package comes with the Brembo brakes, black tip exhaust, and carbon fiber interior...

Just bought one yesterday in ceramic grey with red interior, RWD, and sun and sound package. They were asking 50k before tax, title, and dealer fees. Unreal. I was able get it out the door for 45k after trading my 17 year old Silverado and extensive negotiation. Every stinger they had was sold before it reached the lot. Only one car on the lot to test drive. Lucky only have to wait 2 weeks for delivery. Probably still paid too much in the end, Hope it’s worth it.

Come in, Joe, zonking the protective cover for all the expensive, high tech sensors??? I thought they did a good job concealing it when compared to many other brands. I officially protest this zonk!

Bought a 2023 Gt-Line, Apex package in Ascot green, in February. I absolutely love this car.

GREAT review Joe. 37K for this Stinger? This might be the top 10 of value sports cars of the last 25 years! Throw in AWD for 2K and it’s under 40K. New name for gear shifter; “thrust modulator”. I found the Stinger with 18 inch wheels drove much smoother than the GT 3.3 with bigger wheels. Hopefully, Kia can continue the Stinger or move it to the EV6 platform.

Nice car but at 37K, passenger seat should be power adjustable, there should be a sunroof, and no hard plastic with the cheap nets behind the front seats...🤷🏼‍♀️. The ceramic silver is eye catching and the horsepower is impressive! Great review and camera footage!
