When the Stinger was introduced a few years ago, it shattered perceptions as to what Kia was all about. The Stinger showed us that Kia is capable of great engineering, fantastic design, and building vehicles that are very fun to drive. The 2022 Stinger has undergone a mild design refresh, but the real news is with this "base model" GT-Line. The new turbocharged 2.5L makes 300 horsepower-45 more than the previous base Stinger. It's one of the very few modern cars that I would happily own...Seems to do everything well, PLUS you get that killer Kia warranty. Good to know it does great on those backroads, now I might ACTUALLY have to consider owning one!

Honestly not trying to brag but I think I'm kinda getting uncomfortable with the stares I get when driving around in my stinger. I think people think it's a better car than it is and they probably don't know what it is unless they look real hard at the kia logo. but it was nice at first but I'm kind of a low-key guy. Is this how pretty women feel everyday? they get stared at constantly and probably like the attention at first and then it gets old or uncomfortable...LOLOL

Just purchased this car on Friday. It's a 2023 same color same trim with sun & sound package and Apex package. 5k miles paid only 34k. This car is absolutely incredible. I love it.

Got my wife a 2022 GT-Line, it's pretty quick, very comfortable and on the highway she is able to get 39 mpg's on long trips. That part blew me away. For the money it's a really great car.

Great in-depth review and great color on the Stinger, those white gold accents finish it off! The exterior reminds me of a Charger and the interior reminds me of a Mercedes sedan, which isn't a bad thing at all

I just got mid ceramic silver model with the red seats. I also bought red carpets online and now the car looks amazing. This an amazing value and will probably be problem free. I made the car even faster by getting a license plate that reads STINGRR. You will love this car. Get one before they are all gone.

Always dug the Stinger. A great dark horse that seemingly came out of nowhere from Kia. Also, great to see your daughter so into cars. My daughter is three, and loves my SAAB. My ten year old son doesn't care, and just wants more Minecraft. Lol

I have a 2020 GT2 that I got in June of 2020. I adore the car. I didn't even consider the 2.0 GT-Line. I might have considered the 2.5 if it had been out last year, but probably still would have bought the GT2. If the Stinger sold better, I think it would make a lot of sense for them to offer 4 models, a sort of GT-Line 1 & 2 that are the same as the GT 1 & 2 except for the engine. If the used car market ever settles back down toward something more normal, I think these would a very tempting used car purchase for many people.

Just bought one a couple weeks back and have absolutely enjoyed it! I’m a 20something guy who’s wanted a sports car all my life but figured a fun fast car was way out of my budget. This thing has blown me away at the amount of car I got for less than $40k, and short of racing my friends V8 Charger it’s totally speedy enough for my liking. Great review, if I hadn’t already been interested in it before, your video would have definitely made me take a look!

I have always liked the stinger, but if I cld afford it I’d get the v6tt gt2, but they aren’t cheap. I have a Sonata NLine and wld love for it to have awd…that’s the only thing I think the stinger has over the NLine. Great review!

Ill take one in Panthera Grey with AWD but skip the sunroof package. This level of power is fine.....though if I bought it id mod it to improve the sound if I could.

@@hullinger far more people are going to advocate for the V6 so I will play devils advocate. Depending on elevations of where you live this thing will easily get 36+ mpg on the highway. It makes excellent power as well. This is first 300HP 30MPG offering from a popular brand ever. Then tac on RWD. And on top of that, this engine is Port Injected and Direct Injected. This a technology that Toyota and Lexus have used in their vehicles for awhile but their engines are extremely uninspiring. Direct injection has been a big down side to just about all vehicles the last 10 years. We have always been restricted to luxury cars if we wanted a RWD with high level of efficiency and power. Now we get it in a popular brand. Popular brands or luxury, very few have Port Injection and Direct Injection. This engine is going to be solid as a rock.

Another good review. I am too cheap, though. Worst time to buy a car, but spent hours getting the best deal I could on the Nissan Versa sedan my wife and I had to buy because of the 2006 Sportage collision damage 😢. Kia had nothing on the lot. Wanted the base model Versa but couldn’t find one.

To save at least $7,000 over the V6? Sure I'd buy one. One pet peeve - you can't get ventilated seats on the base trim. I have no idea why so many car makers force you into a top trim level just to get them.

the base makes a convincing argument over a GT. Even money aside savings aside, there is objective benefits of being lighter for better handling (plus less wear and tear on brakes that the stinger is infamous for) and having a much longer range with the stingers tiny fuel tank

I purchased a 22 GT line back in July and I couldn't be happier. Wanted a stinger with the TT V6 since the car came out but finances and Cali gas prices weren't having it. I was originally going to get an accord for the daily but with accord markups prices were basically the same as the GT line so I jumped for it and don't regret it.

I’ve owned a v6 twin and now own a 2022 gt line !!! Mascot green. The best PART IS THE GAS MILEAGE The v6 twin sucked so bad with gas and the gt line is way better for morning commute and you get the same luxury feeling and style .

Actually the headlamps on the '22 and '23 GT-Line are very different from the previous ones. The previous headlamps looked like economy car lights. The redesigned ones look MUCH better ! !

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE KIA STINGER. I was more of a fan of the bigger motor compared to the base model when the Stinger first debut. Now with the base Stinger making 300 HP and 311 FT LBS OF TORQUE the base Stinger is more appealing. Will you test drive the Stinger with the larger motor?

is there not a base GT anymore? in 19 and 20 there was a base GT...then the GT1 then the GT2. my base 19 GT has the 3.3 TT. it stickered at 38...I got it for 31 in Nov 2019. great car.

this is weird! I have exactly the same Stinger gt line; same color, same sun and sound package. the only difference is mine is 2023 and awd. I even drove it in some pretty curvy road in California, just like the one in the video!! my wife and I took it from Utah to Illinois and it was a blast to drive, not to mention the adaptive cruise control helps a lot to not get too tired during the monotony of Montana highways. I got to say, I really enjoy it, but here in Utah, they are rare, specially the GT line. almost every time I see one is a GT1 or a GT2. that's why I painted my calipers red, as my wife says: "it has Brembo brakes... from far away." 😂😂

Thanks for the excellent review. I just have to say that calling the base model "GT-Line" rather than just "GT" (or "GT1" and have the step-up models be "GT2" and "GT3") seems positively goofy. But with that out of the way, while it would still depend on a test drive, if I were shopping today the base model would now be in the running, when it wasn't before. And although I'm not a fan of green cars in general, the paint on your test car is surprisingly attractive. Looking forward to seeing one in person, as I'm curious how the look will translate from a computer monitor to real life. Would also like to see that exterior shade mated with a sand or saddle colored interior instead of charcoal. Now if KIA would only make a manual transmission available, they'd really have something.

I put my eye on the Stinger GT-Line, which I prefer over the more powerful trims. It's not without faults, but it checks many boxes. I wish it did not have real leather and that it would be at least 200lb lighter. Shame it is hard to get cars these days.

@@KobeMpthers I did not get one yet, because of the crazy prices and market adjustments. I think the Stinger is a bit faster (MT 5.2 vs 5.5). The more important difference is the RWD, which Honda, sadly, does not offer.

Never in a milion years would 2.0 make 0-60 in 6sec, this is the Kia's pipedream. 2.0 can make it in lower 7s at max. 2.5L seems to be a great upgrade in this field for sure. Good for the owners that Kia's haters won't even try this car. At least it's not as popular and it's not an every third car in the street like its german rivals, which gives You sort of a feeling You're driving something great looking and unique..

ive heard the driving dynamics are better but its less comfortable over bumps and normal pavement, sounds better, a bit more luxurious looking interior. Doesnt have a hatch and a good bit more expensove im guessing.

Kia\hyundai have been making good powerful cars recently. But they all have 1 fatal flaw... no limited slip. The K5 GT\Sonata N line as well and now the base model stinger\G70 are the same. The FWD cars are useless in the first couple gears. They cant put power down at all. Thats not as bad on the RWD models thanks to gravity and inertia. When it is wet or snowy these things struggle. Come on koreans, spend the few extra bucks and make them limited slip.

With the red you can't see the long side marker light, so that is a plus if you don't like that design feature.

I would disagree the buttons don't look as posh. Audi/Bmw/Mercedes' interiors have become utterly ugly, with all those tablets, childish styling, and digital gauges (BMW is the most terrible on the grid). Stinger looks excellent from the exterior, reminding of a Maserati or something way more luxurious, has the best-styled classic interior from all the brands, with a touch of a modern look, analog clocks included, plenty of room, has a good engine, sporty style and gets all of the fancy features in the standard package, being the least expensive of all the premium sedans at the same time. Not enough? Don't buy Kia, at least I'd feel more unique on the roads :D

@@KobeMpthers My cousin has, and a good friend of mine. I drove and used this car for some time. I'm planning on buying one this year. I really like it, for many reasons. Mainly because it's not common on the roads, and it looks good.

@@k_s.m so you don’t have need the 3.3 stinger which is v6. So the 2.5 stinger is enough?
