Tony and Frank went out and saw the new Doctor Strange movie. Its the latest entry in the MCU that has ties to spin off TV shows and old marvel cartoons. All of which can be found on Disney +! So as we review In The Multiverse of Madness we try to decide if its more of a movie or big commercial.
Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. However, a threat emerges that may be too big for his team to handle.

While this movie is divisive I think it's universally accepted that Dr Strange reanimating an alternate corpse of himself and then turning demons into his cape is one of the most metal things to happen recently in the mcu

To answer Frank, during the universe hoping bit and the one taxi he mentions, there was a ad for "Grindhouse Releasing" on it, which that label was co-founded/ran by Bob Murawski, one of the film's producers and a friend of Raimi's. I saw that and was happy to see them get a shout out.

I just had to make a 2000 mile road trip. I recently lost my family, my home, and my business. Having so many episodes of Hack the Movies / Talking about Tapes in a playlist was both convenient and entertaining to help pass lots of time on the road. Thanks to all who help make the program a reality. Thanks for helping to fill the quite moments where all I am left with are my thoughts while piloting a 4.5k lb hunk of metal and plastic. Also, I hope Newt specifically has been doing well since he took his leave. Hope we get to see him again in the future, even if just briefly.

This movie was fantastic. Wanda taking down the Illuminati was one of the coolest scenes in the MCU. I’m so glad Marvel gave Sam Raimi creative control.

This movie is crazy. I'm glad that Sam Raimi is allowed to be his Evil Dead/ Darkman self as well as his Spider-Man/ Drag Me To Hell self. I'm surprised that several variants made it into the movie.

The effects were great in this! America and Steven changing looks as they traveled through multiverses including a paint universe and an animated one. Bruce Campbell as the the Pizzaball Vendor beating himself up was a nice nod to Ash Williams. The 2 Dr. Stranges fighting each other with music notes was so cool. You hear the other Dr. Strange compose a bar or two of Toccata and Fugue in D Minor which has been used in a handful of horror films. The final fight between Zombie Strange and Scarlett Witch was a lot better than I expected.

I can't stand the fact that I can't even go on RU-vid when a new movie comes out because somebody has to post key moments in the MCU films the night of. I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home on the opening Saturday, and all three Spider-Men were on my RU-vid THAT FRIDAY NIGHT. Like, get bent! And RU-vid's algorithm pushes that stuff right to the top, like you said. I hate it so much how the MCU has made this a thing, and you have to avoid ALL social media until you see their product

In order to appreciate the "Grindhouse Releasing" Easter Egg MCU fans should probably watch their blu-ray catalog which includes: Cannibal Holocaust, I Drink Your Blood, Pieces, Cat in The Brain, The Beyond, Cannibal Ferox, Massacre Mafia Style and more! Tony, I'll watch The Norseman episode after seeing it. I care about enjoying that movie.

Would have been cooler if the alternate versions of her kids were also illusions, and that Billy and Tommy in every universe were fake illusions. The only versions of Wanda that ever had kids were the ones that managed to get over their grief and not hold onto it. As for Wanda being possessed, that's absolutely going to be the case in a sequel, just have her being influenced or possessed by Cthon, who they just kind of brought back in the comics and was always tied to Wanda. So ya know, easy out for Wanda's character arc.

Okay, I think I have it figured out. The reason I didn't see this as a commercial is because I don't have the first clue about any of the MCU properties. The only thing I've seen except for the movies is, appropriately, Wandavision, so I didn't feel like I was being bombarded with references.

I think 616 is the universe designation for the mcu from the other universe we see. Because the actual universe designation is for the mcu earth 199999. I think it’s like how Arrowverse is earth one, but so are the comics.

wam bam thank you Sam, Dr.Strange2 was my jam. Raimi's horror/camp style(Evil Dead,Army of Darkness,Drag me to Hell) really worked for Dr.Strange(he's kinda Ash Williams like in this movie). America Chavez using Star-Wipe transitioning as a power was pretty funny. plus Raimi used the humor in the right places, allowing scenes with weight behind them to sink in without taking the steam out of it with 1 liner after 1 liner.

The MCU already had a numerical designation, it is universe 199999. It can not be the 616 because that is the source materials designation. But they just had to make it confusing af.

The Inhumans series was such a tragedy. Having them be a part of the MCU and used successfully could have opened the doors for so many more interesting stories to be told. I thought their casting of Maximus was one of the best casting choices in Marvel movie history.

After watching it for a second time, I'd say it's alright but nothing spectacular or ground breaking. For the normies who only watch the movies and don't have Disney+, they'll will be confused with Wanda's motives and character. I'm sure reshoots made this into your typical macguffin story that's been told a thousand times already. It was more madness than Multiverse. The Illuminati is underwhelming when you substitute BP, Tony, and Namor for the others. The third act is the best part and it feels like an eternity to get there. The after credit should have been in the movie, and the real one should have been America using her power (which she can magically master at the end for no reason) to find her parents. Wanda and the professor could have been something memorable, instead it was a waste. And they wasted Mordo, that's the most disappointing part of it. For a Raimi movie it's great, for a Marvel movie.. it's alright. Shang Chi is still the best out of Phase 4, and even that is subpar. It's phase one slag all over again lol

I thought the movie was alright. I enjoyed the Sam Raiminess of it, but the fact that you had to watch the Disney+ stuff first bugs me. Everything being so connected is too much; you used to be able to see the 3 marvel movies a year, and be good but now that you need to watch all the shows too you're having to watch the equivalent of 6 or 7 movies a year. It's like they're trying to take the decade long build up to Endgame, and do it every 3-5 years instead.
