Is the new Toyota Supra BETTER THAN EXPECTED? | 2020 Toyota Supra Review 

After posting this, I wanted to give some updated thoughts! I can always tell if a car is good by one simple question; "Do I miss it once it's gone?". To that I say YES! MOST people are not going to understand this statement but some cars have a special fun factor that makes it memorable. If you live in an area with fun roads nearby, this car will blow you away! The part of this video where I was driving in the canyons was some of the most fun and engaging driving I have had in a $50K vehicle. The small & nimble packaging proudly showcases its superior handling characteristics and this chassis really allows you to utilize all of the power very effectively. You will be wanting for more power once you get familiar with the Supra but the truth is that it's still plenty quick and properly fast. Hope you all enjoyed the review! Thanks for watching!

I admit the more I see the new Supra, the more I like it

I had my reservations when I saw the 1st pictures and hated toyota for making it a BMW, however seeing it in real life and driving it is the reason I am now the proud owner of a A90 and would buy this over and over again.

I've seen it many times in person, summer 2019 in Austria a lot of them (because they're made in Austria, not sure) and in my home country a few times. It's such a beautiful vehicle!

When Forrest pointed out the hood bulge and I realized that the front end seems to give a nod to Toyota's time in Formula One. The bulge leads into what would be the the front wing struts on an F1 car. The black splitter also emulates F1 styling. I thought the car was ugly at first, but now that I think I understand what they were going after, the front is growing on me. Still not sure about the back.

A lot of people see Toyota products as an avrege “chain” product like Coca Cola or McDonald’s because it’s so popular, but what people don’t understand is how COOL this really is.

Looking forward to the 2021 model, a new strut brace, more power and better suspension. Glad i did not buy the 2020 model but they certainly had a nice car to build on.

I’ve been waiting for a intelligent review. Too many jump in and beat the vehicle and seem proud of that fact.

I will say something, this car feels pretty tame and easy going around town. But man when you put down that pedal, it becomes another animal. When you ask it to go, it goes! Scary fast if you floor it and you begin losing that back end. It usually isn't a problem in dry weather. But with a little moisture on the road, you have to respect it.

Nice very in depth review only thing I guess you missed is BMW parts counting. As someone that has also test driven the GR Supra can agree pictures do not do it justice and in person it does look amazing. Agree quite cramped inside. Fake vent wise think Jackie Ding only found back ones could be useful. It is a really great handling car, wish Toyota would have tackled the dash design wise, cheers for the info (oh no tac is BMW :(boo) . BMW interior much higher quality than most Toyota’s. Arm rest is Toyota parts though I suppose. Tuning they did to springs and gear ratios as well as Handling and chasis is brilliant something BMW could never do in my opinion.

The JBL system sounds bad because of the fake engine noise. You can use that bimmer code and turn off the engine noise. It helps improve the sound a little.

Great review. Thanks. Only comment is that your complaint that it is too familiar to a BMW is not a big factor for most people. If you drive BMWs and like them it is an asset. If you have not driven a recent BMW, it is not relevant. It may only be relevant to a reviewer that is comparing different vehicles to each other. To the person who is just looking for a great car, it should not matter that it is similar in some ways to something else.

Forrest, I’m a fan.....but I have to comment about your chief complaint on the Supra - if I remember correctly, the joint venture is between Toyota and BMW is what allowed the car to be produced. I have no doubt that Toyota could have funded 100% of the R&D, but at what expense to other products? Yes, the drivetrain is BMW, but if that’s what it took to make the deal, then that’s where we are.

Dang the audio system is a let down that’s something that should have been on the top of the list since it’s a SPORTS CAR

Hey @Forrest Mazda in the mazda 3 and the CX30 both have the auto light up feature on the windshield wiper stalk also. So at the least BMW and Mazda are doing that. Also, there is a reason Californa is geographically a superior state man those mountain canyons really were showcased here.

As someone who has owned BMW's as well as other brands, I have to say that BMW transmissions, both their own as well as the ZF bought solutions aren't anything special. With BMW it's more the total package and driving signature that's result of all the parts together, creating a holistic value. So expecting something great based on a BMW transmission alone... I personally don't think that's justified. Actually, when it comes to transmission tech, I kinda like the Japanese brands. But I have to say I've driven manual Japanese cars only. The fake vents in the Supra apparently are there for tuners who can use them. Reliability wise, Toyota did the quality control on the parts, meaning that the Z4 should be of Toyota quality now. It's also a bit too easy to state that they just used BMW tech. They were very much involved in the development process and early on they separated and Toyota build the car around it. The 50-50 weigh distribution is based on Toyota's wishes, which is what influenced the proportions of the Z4 as well. Also, looking at the Carwow video, it seems like the Supra performs differently from the Z4 as well. While I understand that Toyota would have to make this car way more expensive if they did the tech themselves, I can accept that they choose the current route for the tech. But the interior... Could they really not do this themselves? Am I underestimating the development costs for an interior? But then again, with iDrive it is the Toyota with the best infotainment-system. I don't understand how Toyota can't get this right. Anyway, great review. You are one of few who pointed out some details that are actually different between this and the Z4.

I love the looks and performance of this car, but I hesitate to like it bc, as a true toyota fanboy, I’m afraid this cars reliability just wont live up to its big brother. If it stands the rest of time though, I won’t have an issue with the car.

Iv'e owned two '94 MKIV Supras and and five Mustangs since 2005. I traded in a much-loved 2016 GT350 on my 2020 Supra. The new Supra is incredible. The only people that cast criticism are those who haven't driven one. This brings me to the point of this message. Your hair is f'ing ridiculous. I realize you're making some sort of statement and will probably have the same style twenty years from now when it's grey, at which time it will be even more comical. More power to you.

In my BMW F30 i had to drive roughly 10 kms first to enable launch control and if it's enabled it will show checkered flag on the HUD display once you try the brake and accelerate thing. Ofc after putting it on Sport+ and sport mode transmission.

when you have a car like this with this kindof power,and performance,speed* it needs to be respected*,regardless of concern what other cars are out there are'faster'.a new vette=lol, well the supra won the contest already on its looks,the new vette (C8)looks nothing like a corvette should look like; ACURA deserves the credit for that design/profile from the 90s, then other brands copied-catted off that profile thus far; lets be honest;... where as the supra has a new look/profile of its very own, and i think that it's bothersome to some ppl frankly,where it should be praised not picked on,because this supra is proving to be a serious challenge against known performance cars that have been around,just my take on it.
