Is The Old Garen Build still Viable? 

I usually ban Morde. It’s not an impossible matchup but dodging everything correctly for 60s straight and the he lands one combo and you’re at 50% HP it’s just not a fun experience.

I don't like new PD on Garen anymore, even tho it gives more crit and movement speed, but lack of AD killing me. Now I usually play beefy grasp Q-maxing build against any bruiser and it works perfectly lane-wise, Tabi, Ice Gauntlet, Bloodmail, more often polish it with steraks, dead mans/force of nature and warmogs. Sometimes I go bamis first if my opponent wants extended fights, it also helps keeping grasp stacked at all times. Also rushing Unending despair against short-trades ad characters like Sett or Riven is best. Q maxing gives you nice poke because opponent usually can't punish you because of prolonged movement speed from maxing Q. So i first use E and W, wait for grasp stacking, then immediately Q while I am as close as possible and run away with 2.5-3 seconds of movement speed while opponent is in silence. It works good againd darius and surprisingly even against Camille (she still usually wins tho, unlike Darius). In terms of runes I go like this: Grasp, Demolish, Second wind (against tick or ranged) / Bone plating, overgrowth. Triumph and stacking haste runes second tree. For stats I go haste and two scaling health. You can try it if you want! PS: Against ranged (except graves top) I still go phase rush, swifties, stridebreaker and PD.
