considering the fact that there is NO even remotely plausible close-second explanation for the Shroud of Turin and that everything about it _screams_ of something supernatural, the _only_ explanation that makes sense is as the burial cloth in which Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. granted, that's not rooted in science, but seeing as how we _still_ don't have a way of reproducing the image today lends itself to the theory of something of divine creation. in other words, if _not_ the burial shroud of Jesus, then what?
It's a piece of cloth catholic murderers used to cover the tortured body of Jaques DeMolay. They wrapped him up so they wouldnt get blood on theimselves carrying him to their holy barbecue grill.
one thing for sure, for the byzantine it was extremely important to retrieve the Mandylion from Edessa after the Turks took over the town, now known as Sanli Urfa
My husband and I lived at the Air Force Acadamy back when they tested the shroud there years ago. It was to bad no one was alowed to see it then. It's a very interesting subject. I was thinking all the computer testing and they still don't know. Maybe they should go back to thinking like the people back then and try something from that era. Maybe we won't ever know. But faith is not something you can measure.
The Shroud itself was never in the US, as it has never left Turin for centuries. Only small fibers and two samples were brought over. Its a misconception held by some that it was actually here.
As I understand it, none of the Gospels were written by the Disciples, the names being added in the 2nd century A.D. Cheryl White's statement about eyewitnesses accouts makes everything she says questionable. Maybe when the image disappears, Christ will return?
The most ancient traditions attribute two of the Gospels, Matthew and John, to apostles or apostles’ community of disciples. And the other two, Mark and Luke, were both coworkers of apostles. The apostolic attestation of the Gospels is very well established.
I know your a big movie fan, and while I love what you're usually uploading, I was wondering if we could get an in and out of the theater reaction for a sci-fi movie, like maybe Spider Man, or Indiana Jones? Keep up the great work!
Oh, believe me, you read my mind! I also have an interview with our Diocesan exorcist coming up soon. But I will definitely be doing a review for the Indiana Jones movie.
7:52 Written records are the same as witness statements in a courtroom. The recorder records them and they are filed for historical precedent. Witness statements can be wrong but it has to be shown they are wrong and not dismissed with a "nothing to see here" attitude. Witness statements that are corroborated by other witnesses are good evidence within reason. Given the information we have on the Shroud of Turin, it is reasonable to believe it is the cloth that Joseph of Arimathea bought since it is a real evidence reflecting the witness statements in the gospels. I will say that witness statements from long ago require more care to understand since languages and word usage changes over time but again, we have a good idea within reason about what is conveyed in Scripture.
