Yea, they’re not mainstream, but they blow up so quick it’s not even fair to call them underground. The real underground is rappers or artists who been grinding and have a fanbase built in the underground. Where the majority of fans are dedicated underground fans. Nowadays, your local white boy and your average RU-vidr knows about these rappers within 2 weeks of them rapping and they got labels in their DMs. That shits not underground no more ☠️☠️ these dudes performing at rolling loud within a year of them making music
and tbh, as a artist myself when i see people say the new artists arising are breaking that "mysterious" thing or wtv they call it 💀 me and so much other ppl i know have shown ourself for years so it’s nothing new ppl just don’t bat an eye to anything under 20k

Even Uzi, while having hits like money longer, he had a pretty well built fanbase and a clear transition from underground to mainstream… these new guys are “underground” for like 2 weeks and then blow up off memes. And even then don’t have real fanbases, they just blow up off memes and that’s it ☠️

very true blowing up is relatively formulaic if you follow the formula . speaking as a producer (i dont upload my music much) who makes dnb , and some atmospheric dnb and breakcore . I find that many artists blowing up follow the relatively similar style and sound . Although not bad it is very noticeable like with artists like usedcvnt , Good music but it's just a sound that has been heard and her music just happens to do it extremely well. What I'm trying to say is that there is a formula in many genres that as long as you follow and are a half decent producer and writer you can do fairly well . although you have to be decently creative with making your beats and lyrics obviously . this formula bypasses the typical thought process of growing a fanbase from a unique or individual sound not found elsewhere that sets you apart and that is what many artists do .
i think its just that people stopped taking music seriously, they just wanna have sum fun and wont care for the lyrics, thats why artists nowadays just be making the same soulless shit, everyone is just going for the replay value smh

All you gotta do is have interesting sound or aesthetic and then be marketed in a quarter of everyone’s RU-vid shorts and TikTok’s through aggressive in your face advertising. This will either make people hate the artist( example- Lil man J and that one guy that made the song mega man lol) or make them love the artist if their music is good enough to overlook the annoying advertising
