The May 26th 2023 was a a day of revolution. Gaijin planned to make grinding harder, so the playerbase boycotted the game for few days and reviewbombed on every platform. So there made a roadmap of changes to make the grind more enjoyable and it worked. Gaijn has now a healthy economy even as a french main you cant get into the minus. Or we'll say more enjoyable....less harder grind. I like War Thunder because you have a big selection of vehicles of every time period.
I gave War Thunder 2.4k hours and have been at the grind for a very long time. The changes they made recently are great and all, but it's hilariously, painfully obvious that Gaijin should have stopped at early cold war tanks. Back when I first started playing, getting anywhere in the tech trees fast was impossible or required a massive time sink. Of course, there was way less vehicles than now, but it was still rough. When the devs pulled the poll to see whether we'd like to be stabbed or shot, we took it in stride, coping and saying 'maybe this'll be fine' until they decided to try and do it ONCE AGAIN. Enough was enough and now War Thunder can see you getting a new vehicle much more regularly. Half the time I can't even research all of my modifications before I end up getting a new vehicle. If I had the chance, I'd have gotten into War Thunder a lot earlier because back then, there was only planes. Now, we live in an aircraft dominated system, and I really don't want to grind them, but it's impossible to challenge them as much. War Thunder is the best game of its type, and nothing else compares and Gaijin knows that. It's how they get away with this shitty battlepass system, awful crafting events, and even more. I grinded for the C2A1 and I didn't want to touch this game for months because it sucked so hard playing at that time. Are the players okay? No. We live in a cycle of spite and hate towards one another all because of Gaijin's poor decisions. Their abuse leads to us abusing each other instead of fixing the problems or complaining. The boycott was a massively successful break against Gaijin. Its effects are definitely felt with the new roadmap and all that, but it still doesn't address how they balance things or make sure the players are happy. Best thing I'm looking forward to is the changes in BR for aircraft in ground battles because it's very necessary right now. Does making the grind easier make the game more fun? No. It just makes it easier to enjoy things, but doesn't change the actual fun factor. Why does a tank with bad stock performance have to fight fully kitted out tanks that are a whole BR above it? Why do we have to fight vehicles that easily outclass us in every way possible? I don't know. All I know is that it's not fun when you have little to no chance. It's why people quit around the 8.0-9.0 BR range. Everyone grinds up to their favorite vehicle and then lose interest, which should never be the case. It's all thanks to Gaijin though. Hopefully, I'll come to love the game as much as I want to love it, but until then, I'm suffering.
As a former member of the War Thunder community: no, they're not ok, and I was not ok either when I was part of them. I quitted in September after realizing that this game took a real toll on my mental health; the fact that there are repair costs and they're UNBELIEVABLY high, makes it incredibly stressfull and impossible for new players to improve. For me, repair costs are the single, biggest problem of War Thunder, if they remove them (or massively decrease them, from around 10,000 SL for high rank battles to just 1,000), the game would be far more enjoyable.
they have, a TU 4 used to be 50k to repair, now its just 13k if its spaded, 8k without any of the extra mods, and I seem to get alot of SL now, RP a little more but not much, and I have 2 million from just advancing in the tree
