1.) We already do that; and 2.) That wouldn't be helpful here because this isn't a court-- the point of congressional hearings is to basically do investigative work and collect evidence, not to actually determine whether or not the already-collected evidence supports a guilty verdict or whether there's a procedural reason for why the evidence can't be admitted. But, if the advocate can't give a compelling reason for the existence of their new policy, then that can't bode well for protecting the long-term viability of their program.

Answering the "yes or no" question is falling into a trap, because it's reducing the argument at hand into the most basic and reductive thing. And it isn't so. The NCAA has rules regarding trans athletes, and the Lia Thomas situation wasn't properly accounted for and improperly handled, meaning, further revisions to the rules are to be made. But saying yes to the obvious men are different that women question is throwing everything else down the drain, because, legally speaking, and as much as everyone hates what I'm going to say: Lia Thomas is a woman. Legally speaking. Your feelings, beliefs, or thoughts on it are wholesale irrelevant. What's the outcome of saying women are different than men in this context? Hell, why does that question even happen in this context??? It's basically saying that Lia Thomas is a man, and, again, she's not, because she's gone through legal and medical procedures accounted for in law, to transition from one gender to another.

"she's gone through legal and medical procedures accounted for in law, to transition from one gender to another." the fact that you acknowledge there has to be a "transition" implies there are qualifiers that need to be met to meet a "different" classification. If there was no difference then there would be no parameters needed to be met. also even if you want to separate sex and gender, title IX has nothing to do with gender, it is segregated based on sex, sex can never be changed. the "procedures" Lia Thomas has gone through still leaves biological and physical attributes that a biological woman (sex) can never achieve.

I'm Swedish and played hockey when I was a teen. My younger cousin later played in the same youth team consisting of boys between 13-14 years old. At their trainings, a grown woman in her 20s used to join and train with them. This woman had played in the highest women's league and also won a silver medal in the Swedish championships for women's hockey. She was no better than these boys. She was an adult. but chose to train with the boys due to her inability to keep up with the pace of the club's men's team. And then I should also add that this men's team played in the lowest league and were only amateurs. In the vast majority of sports there are two classes, women's sports and open class. There are no rules that stop women from playing with the men, if they can keep up. Annika Sörenstam, the only woman to go under 59 strokes during competition. She played with the men for a while to get a challenge in a PGA tournament because she was so superior to the other ladies. She then came in 96th place. Stefka Kostadinova from Bulgaria holds the outdoor world record in high jump with 2.09 m (Kajsa Bergkvist holds the indoor world record at 2.08 m). The male outdoor world record is 2.45 m. When Serena Williams, the best female tennis player of all time, and her sister Venus were faced with a match against a man ranked 203rd, they were both outclassed and didn't stand a chance (despite the fact that the man didn't even have warmed up and had been drinken alcohol). When the Swedish women's national team in football/soccer (which is one of the world's best women's national teams in that sport) played a training match against a Stockholm club's boys' team for 15-year-olds, they lost and didn't even have a chance (and that despite the boys' team playing with one less player on the field, on orders from the coach of the women's national team).

Even NPR says there is no fundamental difference between men and women athletes. So there is just two teams. Men’s and Not-Men’s. And someday after girls have learned to train as hard as men they might even be good enough to be in the Men’s team, and then there will be the A-Team and the B-Team, and F-Troop. Riley Gaines is just an over-the-hill has been loser who can’t accept the fact that a dude in a thong trained harder than she did. If Gaines had wanted the gold all she had to do was work harder instead of standing behind the apron strings of “women’s team” and Title 9. Thank g*d there was no women’s team and Title 9 when the United States was trying to put men on the moon. You don’t get a free lunch anymore, being protected by “girls teams” and title 9. Now you have to work as hard as the Men’s teams or every one of you will be replaced by some second-rate mediocre dude with danglees. Now that’s fair. That’s equitable. From now on there will be men’s teams and the not men’s teams. And you girls are just going to have to suck it up and get tough… get Man-Tough or you will be riding the bench.

I agree with Ted Cruz, but the "yes/no" questions were loaded. If your argument has merit, it should be able to stand on its own without needing to force a response that you can then twist toward your own agenda. His final point was far more powerful than the previous lines of questioning, for example. If someone ever tries to come at me in a debate like that, I'd 100% refuse to answer. It's intellectually dishonest.

I can see it asked as congress can ask some stupid shit to start questioning to get a baseline answers, but that the person answering it COULD NOT ANSWER it.... now that is the mind blowing part.

I wish Ted Cruz had that woman physically removed by federal agents for not answering the questions. If you go to these meetings and refuse to answer questions, you should be removed in an embarrassing way!

he didn't really LET her answer, when dealing with leftists you have to understand they will never answer in one word when 20 will do, they went through university and as such have mastered the art of inflating word counts and saying nothing with a hundred words or more. to answer a yes or no question with a yes or a no goes against all their training, they MUST provide CONTEXT to the question, they must rephrase it, and they must include an entire semester's worth of gender studies lectures in their answer. otherwise they may misspeak and offend someone (someone IMPORTANT, a MARGINALIZED person, not some lowly rabble like a cis white man or something)
