I'm black. The answer is yes. I've actually seen victims of black on white violence being dismissed because they "must've provoked them off camera". A video of a black dude punching an elderly white person (can't remember the gender) and people thought the white person (probably about 90-ish years old) did something to deserve getting punched. Another one: a white, 12 year-old boy, was dancing. A black dude (full grown adult) came up in a car, got out of the car, punched the kid in the face, got back into the car, and drove away. Another black dude tried to stop him as he drove off (props to him). But of course, people think he had to have done something to provoke the attack.

I remember this case, I live in Dallas, Tx, and it was on the news here a few times, but not much. This happened about 80-100 miles north of Dallas in a small town in Oklahoma. Sadly, the guy that was murdered was out jogging, training to play college baseball, and was from Australia, here in the US on a baseball scholarship at a small college in Oklahoma. No one race of people should seek violent retribution against any other group, as nothing good can come of that whatsoever. There are more loans, scholarships, and jobs for non-white males than ever in history. That was 20-30 years ago. what started all this? The only reason this got the traction it did was because the victim was an Australian kid who was on a baseball scholarship. This became massive news here and there was political issues with the Australian government wanting answers for the family. And the fact there wasn't a hate crime charge is disgusting and a sign of black privilege.

I was told you can’t be racist to white peoples by a friend who was black. I corrected them and said that that is not true. I was then sat down by a counselor (who is also black), and was told that I was racist and needed to apologize, and then I told her about the comments that same student and another black student (who is also my friend) had made over the course of the entire school year. They had told me to shut up on multiple occasions and told me to stop talking about my “white culture” such as my “white people hair” and my “white people food.” I knew immediately that that was not okay, because if I had said to a black student to “shut up and stop talking about your black people hair” or their “black people food,” I WOULD BE SUSPENDED OR EVEN EXPELLED FOR BEING RACIST. Those two girls didn’t even get a slap on the wrist, meanwhile I lost almost all of my friends, and now have had rumors spread about me being a white supremacist and a racist towards all races. I was also told by another friend who wasn’t even involved in the situation, who is Asian, that I was racist just for being white because (and she said this word for word and I still have the texts), “All you white people shit on us.” There is absolutely a double standard, and because of that I have lost so many friends and not only did I get a punishment which I never even deserved, I am now labeled as the racist girl at school by multiple people, and a majority of them being black or asian students.

Given MLH’s numerous public statements on race, I’m wondering if his take on this might be skewed? I’ve listened to him on multiple occasions and he is not the dispassion academic, he’s clearly chosen sides. Which is a shame because there’s no greater need in this country than for all of us to have a truthful conversation about race. Lemon touched on this by calling it the “third rail” in America. Until all sides are heard on this, and not just listened to, this issue isn’t going to have resolution. And by doing that, we tell our children and their children that the issue will still be a problem for them.
