@@UnclePhil1112 the first trailer was fake, it wasnt made by bloober and it was made by Konami, right off the bat they are lying to the gamers. I dont know how anybody be optimistic after that.

I hope that how they listen to the fans doesn’t skew the game into being what the fans want instead of what silent hill is. An example is Pyramid Head. His role has been greatly exaggerated over the last 20 years. Once being a core story element he became the template in later games and a frequent guest on top 10 scariest video game villains. I think about how reserved his actually appearance was in SH2. Mainly the fear of him being from the cramped environment and strange dreamlike behaviour. Look at the Butcher in SH:O as an example of it being done wrong.
The problem is... so many of the original design decisions, the uncanny voice acting and animations, the limited graphics supplemented by unique art design, etc, were products of their time and the atmosphere changes a lot if the game is remade in a higher quality engine. To me, Bloober's biggest challenge is trying to match the atmosphere with a higher quality ending without making the game look generic.
If the devs are smart they will try to make it as close as a replication of the original as possible. You might be able to show more details in flashbacks, or shuffle around storybeats, change up certain enemies. But it needs to look and feel similar to the original. Just graphically more impressive and more responsive controls. I think lighting and camera angles are key. As well as certain ambient sounds I'm hoping for. the menu, the footsteps, ambience etc Also it's meant to have somewhat slow pacing, to make the game feel like a trek. So i hope they don't rush everything. And they better not add a minimap
I ABSOLUTELY agree!!!! To be honest, when I was thinking way back, what studios would be capable of remaking any SH game, Remedy, Kojima Productions and...Bloober Team came to my mind!! I'm pretty confident that this will turn out good!! Because of the dedicated fanbase it won't take any risk in changing things, like the RE remakes or even the Dead Space remake slightly did, it will rather be a true port to modern consoles....but, as I said, it will be good, and I still believe that!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Same here, Im staying positive until proven right or wrong! With the recent news and thier statements of wanting to stay true to the OG, I have hope the remake will turn out great! But as I said, only when we see more or when the game launches, only then can we truly judge it.

But seriously, if they're dissing Downpour without even experiencing the spine-chilling fog of Silent Hill, they're missing out! It's like judging a book by its cover and then claiming it's a cookbook for aliens. Keep spreading the Silent Hill love, and maybe we can summon Pyramid Head to give these naysayers a friendly tour of the Otherworld! 🎮🔦
I'm no silent Hill fan so I might be wrong with how this game might go, but I'd say there's a chance. I mean seeing how dead space went, and RE4, I think it might go well.
Them listening to fans is truth of them trying their best, they even took time to point out Konami for the 2nd trailer release u can see the confidence of team I just hope for the very best.
Yes! Thats what I have been saying! They know where they messed up and admit their faults but also back up their work by defending it and saying that they are staying true to the original and not how Konami showcased it in the 2nd trailer.
Everyone, please stop trying to destroy this game. I’m very saddened that James lost his old look, it gave him more of his own identity while also appealing to the crowd that adores the original games. Now he looks like a clone of Leon now, who he was originally designed around in the original but still. They only needed to change his facial expression, not his whole face. Let this game live! It could inspire a new generation of game developers just like the generation that played it back then.

Could be, but all games that dont have a release date yet have 31st of December in their database supposedly, its the same for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero right now, no release date but in the database it says 31st of December. I think it just means its coming out this year but I could be wrong 🤷♂️😅
@domsdiary_ yeh that makes sense. If they know it's coming out this year, I guess saying 31/12/24 avoids any sort of customer complaint about it being late. I assume they'll update the release date when they actually know.
People were not just randomly being devided on the trailer for the sake of it, it's because of the devs behind it. Bloober have never made a game of this scale, their games are walking sims with very limited barebone mechanics. The limited tech claim about the original game has been proven untrue. It was an intentional choice to have James be emotionally distant, thus less expressive than an average person.
Yeah I forgot to mention that when talking about Bloober, its their first big game, so my bad on that. Oh for real? Well I have heard that it may have been due to limited tech but also that it was intentional that James looks less expressive. Thank you for confirming this! I have only recently started dabbling in Silent Hill games and have heard some things but didnt know what is true, confirmed or untrue. Do correct me if Im wrong on some of these, I want to be sure and know what Im talking about and enjoy these games like everyone else :)
Every character in the game was emotionless, doubt that was an artistic choice, clearly the game was technically limited in many ways. James was in his late 20s and Angela was 19 yet they looked the same age pretty much. James looked great in the reveal trailer, but this fanbase is horrible and the remake is not going to be successful no matter how good it comes out, because most of those vocal "fans" that developers "should listen to" won't even be buying the game when it comes out and I hope Bloober sticks with their vision because from those two trailers we got, it looked great and exactly how a SH2 remake should look today.
Yeah, I think the same, the current trailers that we got visually look great and I will be buying it no matter what and then tell my piece of the story. As for the communtiy, many people as me, cant wait for it and the other part of the community is the same community, as you said, that started bombing the reveal trailer and its sad cuz this is a chance for Silent Hill to come back not only with this remake but with Silent Hill F and Silent Hill Townfall. But thats the internet for you, the same thing happened with the "pre-hate" for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, but thats another story 😅
@@domsdiary_ I do hope that there's a lot more of us who will be buying it day one and are excited for it, and that we're just the silent part of the fandom. Because if the remake don't turn out to be successful due to nitpicking and blind hate from "fans", I wouldn't be surprised at all if the franchise ends up dead after F and Townfall, even if those games turn out good. The saddest part is that judging by the comments they make, it seems that the majority of the people hating on the remake did not actually even play the original, yet Bloober team which is made from people who are inspired from and real fans of it, might be forced to cater to their ridiculous input. But like you said, that's the internet for you...
Yeah, Bloober Team has been quite controversial on their games the past decade. Especially about the Layers of Fear game wherein they patented the "dual-world scenario", however, a lot of people complained that older games had already done this before and patenting is ridiculous and cheating. It is true as well that they do have limited barebone mechanics in the gameplay department as well. It's kinda too polished and your interaction with the world is very limited with their games. Their stories, however, are getting better. I didn't like the story of Layers of Fear because it is too ambiguous and up to interpretation, and all you did in the game was kind of useless. But if you compare that to The Medium, though, that game was more fleshed out and had a greater impact imo. It's said to be their most ambitious project at that time. And it really felt like a Silent Hill game with its elements. So I believe they have this untapped potential that has yet to manifest soon, and I pray it finally happens with the Silent Hill 2 Remake and reverse our current expectations. Feedback from fans is still important today, and this might be their turning point to even improve in a lot of things. Just look at us die-hard fans from Tomb Raider Remaster :>. Controversy is just as strong with Lara Croft as it was decades ago, but all we want is just to play our old games from childhood. And Embracer + Aspyr did a great job fulfilling that pipe dream we never expected to re-emerge from the depths of Crystal Dynamics' garbage.
Unfortunately yes, there will be a small part of the community that wont be satisfied, but if the remake shows promise, there will be room for improvement in the next possible remakes 🤔
