It's a great song and another personal favorite Eagles song of mine is: Desperado, though all their songs are among the best written.

Sarah, you said it, you need to listen to it more than once to enjoy it. Like when you watch a show or movie the next time you see or hear it new again. I grew up to all of this; if there was a concert someone would find tickets. We would drive to attend it live.

Live recordings are amazing sometimes...There is another one that I discovered from the recent past. A band I had never hear of before called The Gathering, whose lead singer Anneke van Giesbergen is/was so incredible and real lwegend.. She left the band to become a mother and then, start a solo career. The song I recommend comes from her ferewell tour with The Gathering. And the audience is fantastic, too...This is fun! And hold onto your hat!.. The song is called "On Most Surfaces" from The Gathering- On Most Surfaces (A Noise Severe DVD) live 2007

A drummer is doing different things with his/her hands & feet, adding vocals seems the ultimate in multitasking, but it is not really so. The drumming is on autopilot, the vocals are likely what the musician is focusing on. There are/were plenty of drummers/vocalists at this top level, Phil Collins and Karen Carpenter, to name just two. The Eagles were notable for other things as well: Their impressive full-band vocal harmonics and the lyrics of their songs, that invariably had a story to tell. They were true originals.

This song has some of the strongest lyrics in any song ever, "they stab it with their steely knives but cannot kill the beast" and " you can checkout any time you like but you can never leave". Really hard to top those lyrics.

Don Henley was a member of Linda Rondstat's band. When he expressed an interest in starting his own band, she not only gave her blessing, she helped build the band that became the Eagles.

This is probably one of the most fast and best guitar performances in any song. The lead singer (DON HENLEY) is one of the two best singer/drummer's ever!!! He has an amazing solo career too!!!!

Finally! Every single other YT reactor to this song totally missed the Reggae influence in this song except you! And I'd actually say that this is more than just "influenced" Every instrument has a reggae feel including the vocal cadence.. Don Felder, the guy who wrote the music for this song, also taught Tom Petty how to play guitar in Florida before he became an Eagle. When he was fired from the band for asking what was being done with his share of the money Don Hendley and Glenn Fry tried to cheat him out of his money.

Don Henley's voice is still just as good today as it was back then, and the synergy between the band and Jackson Browne back in the day was awesome as JB wrote a few of the Eagles hits. Interesting backstory of its own there too.

This is the music I grew up on. The Eagles were a great 70's band with so many hit songs. They were known for their great harmonies. "Take It Easy", "Lyin' Eyes", "Witchy Woman", "Desperado", "Already Gone", "Best of My Love", "One Of These Nights", "Take It To The Limit", "New Kid In Town" etc. Before they went solo they were the back up band for Linda Ronstadt.

I hope you don’t get in trouble: Don Henley isn’t a pleasant person. He has dozens of people who are monitoring the net for Eagles content. Then his lawyers take action. The Eagles were a great band, no doubt. But interpersonally things weren’t good, especially Henley. And by the way, there’s proof he’s using lip sync in all the live shows since 2018 or 19. That’s a sad commentary on someone whose ticket prices are sky-high.
