I am so happy to see that you are dedicating a whole month to Budapest. It is one of my favorite cities, and I believe it is highly underrated. I hope you are able to explore the countryside and perhaps even the Lake Balaton wine country as well. Hungarians are lovely and their culture is rich. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
It really is a beautiful city and I'm happy we finally had a chance to see it. I feel like we'll have to go back some day and visit some of the rural spots we missed. 😊
I loved Budapest! The island in the Danube has performances - I saw ballet. The best restaurants wants reservations but, as a single, slipped in when a couple canceled. Also loved boat tour in the evening for sunset on the Danube. Enjoy! Solo senior traveler
I was supposed to go to Budapest during my 6-month trip last year, but wasn't able to. Now I'm bummed, it looks fantastic! I'll add it to one of my future itineraries.
Definitely worth giving Budapest a whirl, although a full month certainly isn't mandatory. More coming to you this Sunday with our Budapest cost video. 😊
It is nice to see that how your train travel experience was with the bags and pups. The suitcases did look heavy. It is interesting to see how elevators, kitchens, and bathrooms are in different in terms of size especially in other countries. The Airbnb was nice, comfy and centrally located. The parks, buildings and architecture looked amazing. I hope you have a great month in Budapest. :)
As you saw, we're finding that the elevators in our European apartments are almost always very tiny. But we've learned to be very grateful to have elevators at all...often we're just dragging our luggage up many flights of stairs 😂
This video is fantastic because I’m going to Budapest this week for the Hungarian GP and Bratislava next week. The videos are so helpful, giving us a flavour of what to expect on our trip. Thanks 👍🏾
that couch was A-mazing!! it's deep then wide, i could google that one--for some reason the 'blue' stood out in this apt . . . it's like i 'felt' something when gillian was standing by that fountain in that beautiful city square. i think of all your videos i would visit here . . .
There is certainly lots to discover in Budapest -- it really is a beautiful city although definitely some rough edges. We've got our end-of-month highlights reel coming soon so you can judge for yourself 😊
For our journey through Europe this summer, we purchased all the tickets well in advance for the major train trips. For the shorter regional rides, we would book at least a couple days in advance. We didn't use any apps- just booked on the company website.
I was watching this and feeling very familiar feelings about the travel part. I am working so hard to downsize my spending stuff and go full “one bag travel”. So stressful I remember one “lancha” ride I Guatemala and I felt tremendous stress lifting all my luggage into a boat from the dock. Then the bumpy ride - I was happy it made it. But I’ve been packing lighter since and now aspire to carry on. Love watching your travels.
I can only dream of the freedom of carry on! How wonderful that would be. I hear you on the stress of the dock-to-boat situation...fraught with even more hazards than platform-to-train! 😂
Thank you both so much for this video! I imagine it might have been more work but it was wonderful to have the perspective alongside you both arriving in a new location. Also I love the little clips of Stephanie's comments at the beginning. Too funny.
I'm headed to Budapest in about a month - currently in Istanbul for 2 months, then Athens for a week, Prague for a few days, then Budapest for 9 days. Usually I travel with just a small backpack, but this time I have one small suitcase, and a duffle bag - I don't know how you get around with your big suitcases plus dogs, I'm already wishing I only had my backpack! I hope you enjoyed Budapest! I love the food and the architecture. A cruise down the Danube is nice - hope that was on your list!
Wow - what an exciting itinerary! Those are some wonderful cities on your list. It is a bit of a nightmare to haul our luggage plus dogs plus backpacks, etc. Enjoy the freedom of just a suitcase and a duffel! 😂
