I'm fairly certain the stages do serve a purpose. No content from stage 2 would be released until all of stage 1 is complete. This helps the developers focus on a smaller set of features to worry about finishing soon before moving onto a new group, as well as communicating to the players that updates specifically from stage 1 are what we should expect to release at any moment and nothing else. If the stages didn't exist and updates were simply listed instead, it would broaden the scope of possible new features so much to the point that we'd might as well expect no update to come out sooner than another, whereas we can know for certain that something like migration definitely won't be implemented before Gateway, for example.
Every official will probably limit the amount, i think it's good that they're doing Apexs this early since they probably want to see how they interact and change the dynamics and get data ahead of time on how to work and release new ones
That’s stupid If it is the case cause limiting the amount of a certain group of playables can become very annoying very fast basically adding a whole new server wait list inside of the server.

It’s already bad enough to get into servers but now add a whole new queue system limiting the amount of apexes per server? That would just ruin the experience of the game for players who want to play as that group of playables! And I think it’s actual bull that a server is gonna be filled with just one apex playable! Path of titans has multiple apex playables yet u see people play small or mid tiers more often! The only way the isle messes this up if they don’t balance them right! Cuz if they are gonna be just definitively better than any other playable! Blame the devs balancing and not the people who want to play the only good creatures in the game due to poor balancing!
If you think about it this way, Stages let us know whats coming first. Dividing things into stages tells us that nothing from Stage 2 is gonna show up until stage 1 is finished. This helps *both* sides of the coin. It lets the devs decide what they want to prioritize and it tells *us* what is being worked on atm (Even if the content in the stage doesnt come in order of whats being displayed)
I think apexes on community servers are just the devs testing to see how they will effect the game and what players will do with them. Apex implementation has always been a hotly debated topic for the Isle so they're probably just playing around with different ideas at the moment. As for the "small but frequent" updates, I'll believe it when I see it.
@@NotWesPresto I would have expected gateway to be end of year if they haven't done some of the recent changes. Them saying migrations are no longer needed for it. It being first thing on the new roadmap. Its hard to not think that they are pushing for a gateway release to be very soon.

In my opinion once a perk system will be added to the game and some small tier dinosaur also get mechanical upgrades then those will be used more often. The reason why they make small ones too is simple because there are players whom like these creatures and would play it. Not all player playing the meta but actually I would not say T-Rex and Trike will be the meta, because they are possible slower and their turn rate will be also slower so quicker creatures can avoid them or attack them in their flank but possible they will do more damage and they have more hp so it takes more time. I personally a Hypsi main and actually the hypsi is one of the or the only dino which starts as an adult when you pick it. You can go and jump high places and you can avoid almost everything also you have the power of harrass larger creatures. If you die you do not lose time and you can pick quick again. The Dryos other hand are noisy and their only option is run and double jump to avoid attacks but they really need the burrowing so they could hide and avoid pedators. Side note to this small tier creatures could also use the burrows as a place of hiding if they fit into the hole. I would not pick Rex because I have bad memories from legacy and I prefer herbi and omnivores any way. The Dilo also a fave of mine on this list and let's hope he has something new to offer. Once Allosaurus, Alberto, Achro and Giga will be added to the options there would be direct competition for large prey.

I do not know where I stated I am skilled or not skilled to play or not play certain animals. You took the wrong thoughts from what I said. I do like play challenges and I play a lot of multiplayer games but I personally in most games not pvp player instead playing pve. I consider the Isle a simple semi realism survival game where I do play whatever I do like. I prefer smaller creatures because I like the mobility and while a Rex strong and hard to kill but slower than what I like to play. I do play small to medium sized creatures in the Isle because of mobility and have perks I like to utilitize but that not means I will not check other creatures.
I think that the statement about carnos not being able to fight a tryke...well why would they fight it? I mean, in legacy tryke was numerous but it wasnt the ONLY herbivore. Not every carnivore NEEDS TO BE ABLE to hunt every herbivore. Fine you got to find balance cause is a videogame, but have you ever seen a wild dog hunting a Hypo?
Thats not what he meant, he meant that theres not enought roster to support both rex and trike, since rex will kill everything with easy and trike will survive everything easly, carnos arent supposed to hunt trikes but theres nothing other than rex that can attack it making like stego and deino now, being 80% of serve population

@@comanderdre1569 I would assume Juvi rex would be pretty fast. Apexes at their best move through the tiers and change a lot as they grow. Juvi rex is a quick, agile small game predator. Sub rex is a slower but chonkier mid tier which could begin to tussle with things like carno. Adult rex is well, rex.
The thing with Apexes is that they have clearly told us there is going to be a complex system surrounding them that effects the way players will interact on a large scale. Rex and Trike are not being added with regard to the current animals and ecosystem because THEY ARE the ecosystem, as is the nature of Apexes. They are the testbed for how apex species are supposed to be implemented into the game. Once this desired system is polished and provably working as intended we can expect new apexes to appear. The choice of Rex and Trike as these flagship species is simply because of how iconic their rivalry is. You can't have a Rex and not have it fighting Trike.
Still no mid tiers besides stegos, and they're already TOO strong against the smaller ones. It would be easier to add allos, suchos and other similar creatures in strength and once that's done and balanced, jump to the bigger guys. That's actually so simple, and it would amaze me that this devs didn't think about that, but it's the isle we're talking about, so nothing new
I think that only stage one will be complete by the end of the year, and maybe 4 dinos, maybe some of the smaller aspects of stage to will make it in, but who knows.
Zaguer the difference between stage 1 & 2 is that nothing in stage 2 will be added until all the content of stage 1 is released; as stage 1 content is being prioritized.
If they would just work on small updates every month to every 2 months, releasing new Dino’s and working on the Dino’s released while they are out I’d be happy
One soloution would be adding longer stunning effects to Big herbis such as trike and stego. This would make it easier for mid tiers to stun big herbis. The carnivors should also get a small stun so if the herbi is in a group its packmate could take out the stunned mid tier before it gets away. Sorry if any of my english is hard to understand not my main language and hard to write with autocorrect on a iPhone xD
I just get worried about this style of roadmap and how they say nothing is locked and can drop anytime when it's finished. It just makes me feel like they'll take a long time with them because there's no set release date. Like if someone asks when something will drop they could always go back to when it's done it'll drop. I don't know if I'm describing this right.
If you ask me (which none of you have) the most important thing to focus on should be expanding the roster back to its former glory as fast as possible. More dinos = more players, and it also buys a lot of time to focus on mechanics. Unfortunately it looks like this update is mainly a pr move to try and keep people from dunking on them every time they miss creature deadlines, by taking them off the road map entirely.
All I know for is once the Roadmap is complete, is the day I might buy the isle finally because I've been waiting for 7 years just to experience what it'll be like in the game Overall yet again another example of just X'Zauger just being the 🐐
TBH this is a pretty pessimistic take for a roadmap change that was overall positive. Smaller more frequent updates are what we've been wanting for a long time now. We saw earlier today just how fast these small updates can be to implement. The early years of legacy were some of the most exciting, every month there was something new. It felt like the game was moving forward fast. Rex and trike are really a non-issue when they are optional. Just play official if you don't like them. The other roster additions are also pretty good. I have a problem with oviraptor but otherwise not too bad. If you wanted to criticize the roadmap changes, you could have mentioned the lack of detail on each addition like wtf does apex system mean. Or you could talk about elders/mutations being rolled back, which are the only known objectives dinos get other than "survive". I appreciate you keeping Afterthought honest but you gotta take the good with the bad. Positive feedback can be just as important as negative feedback. Overall nice video bro keep it up :)
i wonder if the devs are splitting them into groups of smaller content drop just so that for each group they assign a specific mechanic to a single person (or team of people) then if one mechanic is done before the others they wont hold it back to wait for the rest of the group of mechanics to be done, they will just drop the single mechanic on its own. But they did want to have them in "groups" just to keep some mechanics being dropped before others dependent on what dinos are in game etc... Im cautiously optimistic though, this seems like a positive step they have taken to try to make things a little more transparent as well as not expecting people to wait for almost a year for something new. I hope this way of doing things is easier for both the devs and the community to understand and keep some excitement in the game though 🤩
I have to express that I find it really amazing how you're still making good content about the game you love, even after being excluded from its main development hub for months. Respect.
Whoever is in charge of showing shit off for this game has been out of their mind for years. It's probably because there's not any legitimate content to show off just a bunch of ideas the devs are thinking about or toying with that might or most likely will never get added. If they do get added it will take years. Most of this games player base will probably be full grown adults with responsibilities by the time this game at all resembles being complete and for the older Isle players they'll probably be so much older that they don't even think about touching a game in there day to day life anymore. I think this game used to be good from like 2015-2018 and there were things about it that were good and enjoyable but tbh it was the only dinosaur game like this we had at the time. It's sad this game has so much potential too. I'm still excited to see what comes for this game in the future but very apprehensively
Tbh alot of you guys might beg to differ but, i think the new map (Gateway) will make it easier for the current mid teirs to survive and thrive even though they are adding in apexses, especially the map is going to be way bigger and more challanging for apexses to survive at a young age and have to keep moving around the map making it more chalanging as they are definatly going to incounter preditors in younger stages of life, if apexses get added on the current evirma map its going to become and issue but Gateway will most likely make it a bit better (also mid teirs can avoid adult rexses as gateway has way more clealer areas and not covered in foilage like the current map) *Edit* I belive gateway is very soon to come since its in the stage 1 in the roadmap and also the stress test done 6 months ago shows it has done Very VERY well in preformance and beuty only a couple bugs so seeing it in stage 1 of the update makes me think theyll try to release it before most of the dinosaurs are released to give a new enviroment*
I'm wondering if the smaller dinos will eventually interact with humans. Didn't they at one time hint that dryos could be tamed and used by humans? But otherwise, I don't understand their choices either. Already I'm not seeing anyone playing beipi, which I predicted would be water hypsi, and hardly anyone plays hypsi either, and when's the last time you saw dryos? People play dinosaur games to fight! They've taken away the global chat, so they've removed the social aspect for the most part, and that's about the only thing that makes playing small dinos fun.
That is very true. Although I do see quite a lot of beipi players here and there (mainly because I play beipi often) the game just isn't a lot of fun for me without the social aspect we had in legacy. Being able to easily find other players to play with is one of the most important aspects to me but I'll be lucky to even find 1 or 2 people to pack with in evrima.
I feel like with the apex Carnos there should only be four and I heard there's possibly gonna be 60 dinos in total so the apex Carnos could probably be rex giga spino and maybe charcarodontosaurus
Can we just limit the amount of apexes on each server? Say, only five rexes are allowed to be played at any given time on a server. If anything that would make them more threatening, u just know they’re out there but not where
There are plans to implement slots for apex dinos as far as Im aware, limiting people from spawning in to grow them. It wouldn't prevent people logging into previously grown ones though
That's a shame considering they could make competition for food higher especially amongst herb Apexes limiting the amount with a lack of food. Yes they can graze but your growth will be stunted with a lack of nutrients making you easily killed by a carni even non apex carnis.
Limiting the number of apexes would work if they allowed you to have a stable of dinos to play with, like PoT does. But imagine you're growing your rex on a server, and then you can't get into the server for days or weeks at a time because the rex cap is always maxed out. If you could play something else in the meantime, then fine, but since the Isle limits you to one dino at a time, you'd be stuck hoping for that magic moment when you could get on there with your rex or trike or whatever.
@@flashgordon6510 Not only that but everyone thinks that growing said apex would be easy, could just be there getting wrecked over and over taking up an apex slot not really achieving anything. I doubt there would be nearly as many apexes as it was in legacy with how this diet system works.
I wonder if bouncers (Omni and Troodon) will be bane of Trike. True that they won't deal much damage, but bleed them out or have increased damage in Troodons case. Troodons are also smaller and harder for Trike to hit and if flank is as unprotected as it was in Legacy then Trikes will be using rocks and trees behind them as shield to counter these Dinos.
Well if they pounce near the face of a trike they will instantly die since we have a video from the devs demonstrating that, so there will be a zone on trikes that will kill even without them actually doing anything, and using a tree or rock would make them basically untouchable by bouncers
I think it's reasonable to make non-adult apexes on certain stage of growth significantly weaker than dinos who has the same size (or weight dunno) as an apex on this stage of growth. Like even mid- or latesubadult rex won't mess with adult cerato or carno because his chances are very low. Keep in mind we have not legacy-like AI spawns system (in evrima you can't grow carnivore just sitting in bushes on the edge of the map and waiting 'til game feed you with ava or takko) that means you HAVE TO hunt other players or scavenge on their corpses (which have other carnis around). So an apex player with his long (not too long we are not sadists) growth will have to compete with other players being on the postion of weak one for more time than any other dinos before he grow enough. It's more difficult with herbi apexes because they can find food without interacting (one way or another) with other players. IMO the have to be an easier prey for carnis before they grow (don't now exactly how to make it) and their diet should be widespread across the map and probably located in high-populated areas or something like that. I am not sure I've explained it well enough nor this is good idea at all but it is what it is. Growing before becoming the strongest should be a real challenge. P.S. making limit for the number of apexes on server looks like terrible idea for me, just imagine no-lifers playing on rexes 16 hours a day so you will NEVER play apex. limitations should be soft, like skill-demanding, not a straight "no you won't play apex apex slots are full"
What if they implemented a system that limits how many rexes or apex Dino’s are allowed to be roaming around.Or a point system with the elder system the annouched a while back.If a player plays a lower tier Dino and reaches elder and dies of natural causes he accumulates “points”..Enough points and he can play as a high tier Dino.That would solve the issue of all players playing rexes and trikes… Balance.
I’ve suggested this exact thing basically. Getting points for playing smaller tiers in order to play the big tiers. Community doesn’t seem to be on board, lmao it’s simple logic that players will choose the big boys more…

Why should I have to jump through hoops and hurdles, or worry about not being able to play my favourite dinosaur because there can only be a certain number of them in a server at a given time? @@lightbusta9255 Trust me, after apexes actually gets released, for the first few days or even a week, people are gonna play the mid or smaller tier dinos, it's gonna be a pain growing an apex and what makes you think players will let you live when you're spotted as a juvie, you're slower than other juvies/ adults, and you grow really slow too, it'll be rare to even spot a full grown apex with how difficult it'll be to grow them, and that's the balance with apexes. Eventually people are gonna play other dinos, and I'm almost certain Mid tiers are gonna be meta instead of apexes
Honestly, I'm more worried about Maia than Trike and Rex, as those two will stay in unofficials, but Maia will most likely be on officials. What can even hunt it reliably? Omnis? Cera already somewhat struggles with Teno, Carno as well, so what will they even do against a Teno twice its size?

It's even more worrying considering that Maiasaura will be able to brawl excellently with Ceratosaurus (something intended to be Ceratosaurus' job) and *stun Carnotaurus out if its charge like wtf* they should make this thing hell to feed tbh, that's the only way I can see this thing being balanced without making it defenseless fodder
Yeah, having Maia now without anything big enough like allo or alberto to counter it, seems odd, but I guess until they get those boys right in, they can prahaps make it vulnerable to bleed or venom or both? So omnis and Troodon and dilos can hunt it perhaps, obviously Maia would be strong enough to destory them 1v1, but in groups?? At least it is a solution for now, right?
yeah buit why go from 1.8 ton dino (carno) to 8 ton dinos (rex and trike) that gap is too big, yeah there's maia, but thats only 3 tons, there's still a big weight gap
instead of t rex and trike i think they should of added allosaur and para or something similar. like what the hell is gonna be able to deal with apexes? at least allosaurs and parasaurolophus would be killable. The only playable in the game currently that can maybe kill an apex is a deino and thats only in water. I guess a huge pack of Troodons too. That's really it.
I am tired of the development of this game, I do not like the Devs nor their lies, so yeah, I will just sit and see if this will ever come to life and if it does, lets see how it runs.
Instead of just limiting Apexes, the game needs to solve the problem of why the "low tier" dinosaurs like Dryo, Hypsi etc. aren't very playable. I actually think small tier dinosaurs could work well, if they change how they are currently implemented. In natural ecosystems, nearly all smaller tier species (think gazelle or impala) go in large groups for protection, and to create food for the rest of the ecosystem. This is what the isle is missing. Instead of spawning in as one sad dryosaurus just waiting to get eaten by an Apex, players of smaller tier species should be able to spawn in with a set of AI companions, creating a small herd of say 3-5. But, AI sucks right? well, only when its used for ambient dinosaurs that do nothing and are not being controlled by a real human player. Instead of just being sacks of meat, these AI companions would act like less complex dinosaur versions of Boomer the dog from far cry 5, or the predators from far cry Primal. In this way, you can play these small tier dinosaurs like Dryo, or Galli, and not just get eaten immediately as a single animal, but have natural AI body shields that follow a real player and act like an integrated, intelligent part of a functioning system. Limiting Apexes to force people play other species in my mind isn't the answer, instead adding an integrated "companion herd system" is what the isle needs to make the lower tier "prey species" actually fun to spawn in.
Limiting apexes is good, as well as having a system for them due to how complex of an issue it is… I am a firm believer that people in these dinosaur games dont know whats best for them.

I'm betting we won't get herra until gateway comes out. Cause they have to make the whole climbing mechanic for it, and it wouldn't make since to change Spiro to allow the climbing ability to work instead of just putting that into gateway

You don't think a pack of venomous troods are going to be able to take down a trike? Dito omnis with their pounces. I mean, the creature is like 80% bare ass. Sure, they will probably be strong in some aspects, but it's not some kind of unkillable god. Mechanics, coordination and strategy is as always able to bring down even the toughest of opponents.
Exactly, with coordination and a competent pack, you can take out the might trike, I've seen a troodon pack take out a full grown stego. With a strategic pack of troodon and omins, it's scare with that they can do.
Their intent behind the structural change of the roadmap is nice. But from a consumer perspective the new roadmap is horseshit compared to the old one. Its really just a few bulletpoints without any details or elaboration. The old roadmap at least provided some detail. And a roadmap usually is meant to deliver transparency to the user, so when they announced that they are gonna make a new one I figured it would be an improvement from that point of view. Also, for whatever unfathomable reason they decided to put it in a youtube video.... and there isn´t a snowballs chance in hell that they finish this current list within this year. Heck Id be surprised if they pull off just stage one and maybe 1 or 2 dinosaurs
Hold on a second, this is kind of a small deal but calling Dilo a small tier is a stretch. Its as big as cera height wise and its weight probably isnt far off.
Tiers are a personally made thing, like for me diablo, teno, cerato, dilo, i count mid tir while some will say they are small, etc. So putting a dino in a certain tier is just opinion based
As the comment above already said it isn't set on stone, but considering Legacy isle, mid tiers would be creatures just under apexes, like sucho, allo and stego. And dillo would be small tier along side with utah and such. In Evrima the roster is lacking, so stegos are the top tier currently. But considering the full theoretical animals that are coming, it could be considered a mid tier, just like legacy
Honestly, I dislike grouping playables into tiers altogether. There's no set boundary for what's considered one tier vs. another. And even if there was, like mid tiers must be above 2,000 kg (just an example), then it'd be bizarre to call a 1,900 kg creature small tier but a 2,100 kg creature mid tier. A weight spectrum would be much better.
I still dont get the argument of "stego is too strong" play your place in the ecosystem. I you can't beat a stego, don't fight it. They can't catch you. I have the same opinion with Triceratops. If you can't beat them, Don't fight them and know your place.
The problem with that mindset though is that this is still a game, and player enjoyment is ANNIHILATED when you're not allowed to interact with something because no matter who or what you are you get turned into a chalk outline in 3< hits
Wish they fix the graphics so it looks good on a big tv, Isles graphics only look good because everyone is playing on tiny monitors I just wish it looked and played like PoT on a decent tv but it dont combat absolutely sucks, 99% 1 hit fights that are basically cutscenes not gameplay
I remember a dev saying the reason they're adding Apexes in right now (Trike and Rex) is to show people why these classes should be limited or AI, because they'll be extremely powerful and everyone will flock to them by default because of that.
If that's the case then that's pretty bad. That's for the Devs to decide, they are the ones that make them extremely powerful. If they know them being op is going to be a problem they should fix it, instead of releasing them to "show people"
Limiting apexes just proves that they don't know how to balance apexes. Limiting a problem doesn't get rid of the problem, just puts it on a mildly smaller scale. Deinosuchus, for example, if it was only able to grab Troodon, it would still be broken and unbalanced as it's a wildly unfair death for the Troodon, a death cause solely because it decided to fill a resource required to play the game. Thus limiting the deino problem doesn't kill the problem. The same is applicable for apexes
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey If they nerfed the apexes any kind of way the die hard fans of said class would never stop crying about it, so they make them powerful but if they don't put a limit on the numbers being able to spawn then you'll have people trying endlessly to become adult and do a whole lot more griefing then what a Deino can do. I don't understand why people are still complaining tho, they're getting their precious apexes on unofficials and can limit them as much as they want to but its gonna be proven real quick like why they should be restricted with servers that don't.

Furthermore, apexes don't even need to be merged that badly. 3 allos, the assumed pack limit for Allossurus, should be perfectly capable of besting a Tyrannosaurus, but it'd be horribly difficult. That's making Tyrannosaurus tangible by mid tiers and not OP. The rex can even win more times than not, just so long as the allos can stand some sort of a chance. Buffing apexes/increasing their effect on servers and limiting it doesn't make them more balanced, more fair, or more tangible to mid tiers
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey It might not make them any easier to kill, but limiting their numbers helps with people not overpacking, its the players that decide ultimately if they'll help control their own species population or not and most the time they don't, that's why Deinos become overpopulated, the same problem will happen with apexes if they're not limited, people will sacrifice themselves on different species to feed their rex friends, people wont be killing each other to control numbers, it'll be Legacy but ten times worse. I know it hurts people's feelings when class limits are brought up but its ultimately the best solution for having people actually choose to play different classes then instantly picking the most OP unstoppable force. Just take Petits Pieds server for instance. (If you haven't played on it I highly recommend it, its a Unofficial server made by Poutine Italienne and shows just how well class limit works)
Nah that's just a bad idea, why even play the game if you can't play your favorite dinosaur because of "Slots" that'll do the opposite of bringing new players to the game.
System stability #1 priority allow players to go somewhere other than the center without fearing they will never see anything living if they leave the center, might aswell just delete 95% of the map if not #2 priority Everything else needs to have lower priority. without those two above points, i could not give a shit if they had 100 playable dinos, because its barely playable in the first place
devs said it manys times Official Evrima Servers will be Small and Mid tier dinos they dont want apexes on it ... i dont like that but thats what they saying on discord for 2 years now ....but people kinda just ignore it and hope otherwise i think

Can't wait for maia to come out and it's only able to run for about 30 seconds before it keels over from an asthma attack like every other herbivore in the game so far. And despite being the maia much larger than the carno, I still predict carno will body it cuz logic.
Nah carno won't be able to take out mia if it was a 1v1, not only is the mia a bigger teno it will prob do more damage, and carno vs teno is like a 50/50
Rather than spending effort to think of a new way displaying the roadmap and how to market it they should focus on actually focus on bringing content into the game.
I think while many empty promises were made by them, i think they finally realized that they didn't do a great job the last few years and also have been kinda outplayed by path of titans. Also i am not even a slight bit a fan of the dinos we will get in these stages now especially the little playable bullshit, i'd rather have allo, spino, sucho and baryonyx but only time will tell when we will get those. But let me make something clear, you all kinda don't realize how difficult it is building a game with such detail and mechanics from basically zero. Why are games that are GOOD many many many years in development before the game or even just a beta comes out. EXACTLY, because it takes time.. even more with just a small development team.

@@aeroalejandroIt's bigger than everything in the roster and is only threatened by Cera, Troodon, Omni and Deino on a logical sense as Carno will be incapable of ramming Maia due to it's much higher wait weight stat.
Bary might be able to fight juvie deinos... maybe? Knowing how deino is currently deino's just gonna stay untouchable. Bary will at the very least be able to run tho. As for rex, yeah nothing carnivorous is challenging that fucker until giga

stages: I.E. Dondi and his team in 6.5 realized they are incompetent to introduce several things in one patch without breaking the game, so they opted for 1 thing at a time (smart or lazy/incompetent. I let you all decide ) APEXES: everyone will be trike and rex uprading from deino and stego. everyone will afk grow them or have babysitters around for protection and the servers will be unplayable for smaller dinosaurs. Omni can hunt stegos even now, but are they even hunting it? nope because it needs a well coordinated group. so most stego players can grow with no issue. heck I grew up like 7 stegos before a group of omnis ever attacked me
