Deinosuchus is exactly the kind of jump-scare animal that a survival game like The Isle needs. Getting water becomes very risky in a lot of areas, and they provide a natural cull for midsized adult playables like Carno, Teno, etc.
the problem is that there is no cull for edult deinos except other deinos, the croc population con explode to level that makes getting water anywhere pretty much impossible, at least on spiro. Hopefully Gateway is better designed, with various degree of water depth, giving players "safe havens" that are going to be come the hunting territory of other Apexes, like sucho or spino
@@Nestmindi have never seen this because deinos are encouraged to kill eachother and keep population down, also food is too hard to come by for large groups of them to exist without surviving off of cannibalism
I played the Deino for the first time with a buddy of mine yesterday on a small server since all the officials are full. I have not played the game long, I have like 12 hours total in the game. But I have been on the wrong end of said jump scare a lot. Being on the other side, even as a little guy, was something else. Hitting someone crossing the river, grabbing him and dragging them down for a meal for me and my friend. Well, that was one of the most immersive feelings I've had in a game in a while.

I just hope Gateway's rivers, ponds, lakes and or channels will have lots and i mean lots of underwater plants, foliage and vegetation. Big sunken logs, water trees, rocks in the water you can get on as beipi's, secret hidden underwater caves that could provide shortcuts to another place or easy escape for critters if a croc comes along. Anything to spice up the underwater world. And if that happens, i'm sure the semi-aquatic gameplay will be filled with experiences we will never forget.
That bird you really enjoyed was called an Anhinga. I recently visited florida, and Anhinga are decently common around marshes and lakes in that area. When I visited I thought the exact same thing about how this is basically how I envision Austroraptor. Now, all we need is certain parts of rivers and lakes to be FULL of lush underwater vegetation.

Having the motion sensor only work if a creature is on the surface of the water was honestly one of the best balance changes in the history of the isle (rare devs W)
I feel like Deino's biggest weakness would be stuff with big hands, mostly because of locational damage, like how is a Deinosuchus supposed to get bites on the heads of Spinosaurus, Deinocherius or even Sucho ? They can all keep their heads out of harms way while repeatedly slapping a Deinosuchus across the face. And if alt attacks for those three look anything like Beipi's then Deinosuchus is better off swimming away for it's life.
Makes sense, crocodilians have a "weakness" to blunt force due to their weak brain case and sensitive faces, and they could also be flipped by deinoch and spino just like the anky
Considering these dinosaurs have long necks and will be Deinosuchus biggest target, I wouldn't worry too much about the dinosaur head being the target, and it's bite is certainly no joke, they can fight back, but in an environment that is likely to have a lot of them (crocodilians tend to congregate in groups tolerating each other), one can unleash a mass attack trying to get advantage of the prey. Suchomimus and Spinosaurus may have known how to deal with big predatory crocodilians, especially Spinosaurus that lived in the same era as Sarcosuchus, but i don't know much about Deinocheirus.
@@rylandfrederick431I feel like Deino will be considered too “heavy” to be flipped over like that. Another thing is there will probably be map updates that allow Deinos to use their superior swimming ability to escape Spinos. Other Semi-Aquatics will simply be too small to compete.
I personally love the spino model its my favorite of any dino they have. It just looks like a monster and would be absolutely terrifying. Not to mention the people who dont like it are people who say it "isn't accurate." Like having an accurate spino is even possible this damn thing will change another 15 times entirely before we even get an ounce of truth on what it even was.
While yes, Spino does seem to change a lot, we do understand that it looked nothing like it did in JP3. Being 100% accurate is not what I’m asking it to be, but rather be close to what is actually real. Instead, what we got was essentially a fictionalized creature that spits in the face of all knowledge we’ve gained on Spinosaurus since 2014.
@@infernowolf8914 Recent studies show that the spino would've had to had longer and thicker femurs, or it wouldn't have been able to walk. So maybe the tail is inaccurate but the legs are more accurate
Very pleased with the Sucho wading instead of swimming concept art, one of the only accurate things to be added by the devs, since we have observed suchomimus had lower bone density compared to baryonyx and spinosaurus meaning it was a bit less aquatic, good on the devs!
Wouldn’t that mean it didn’t wade though? I remember the conclusion to the study being that suchomimus hunted on land but also stood in shallow waters to catch fish like a bear
I feel like sucho should still be able to swim just to get away from things like rexes and gigas (because what other mid tier is hunting that thing 😭) also for catching fish in deeper waters
@@rylandfrederick431 I’m not sure it’ll be faster but definitely have more stam, I still would like to see it be able to swim, just not as fast as the other aquatics only fast enough to catch elite fish and other aquatic ai, and perhaps ambush a few unlucky river crossers, so it won’t be using the water to hunt the other aquatics just ai and crossers.
My opinion how to cope with Deino. It's the Rex of the waters, make them slower to grow compared to everything else in the water (and in general). The juvies would be easy targets for the semi aquatics, the adults would be horrible for everyone but with the time and skill it would take (plus patience) it may help over population / power balances.
Outside of deep water, I can see deinosuchus actually being at a slight disadvantage against deinocherus, spino, and maybe even sucho (if they are similarly sized) simply due to one thing; height. All three dinos have their heads up above the ground, while deino literally drags its head around. This means deinosuchus might find it hard to get headshots on these dinos, while they can use their claws to hit the crocs head. This is made null in deep enough water, of course, which is probably where most fights take place, but it is an interesting detail on how I think the matchup would go.

I think the deinosuchus fills a much needed niche. since this is meant to be a horror game, having that anxiety of needing to drink soon and fearing what may come of that is a good thing. my problem is that nothing can stop them. the only way to stop a deinosuchus is another deinosuchus, and thats a problem. they become so common and sometimes it feels like instead of being unlucky to be killed by one when drinking, you're lucky to not be killed by one
The Ceratosaurus had some concept art pointing to it being fast in the water and easily hunting crocs (at least smaller ones). I haven't gotten into Evrima much yet since I'm waiting to upgrade my GPU, so maybe it's already like this.
Any upcoming semi aquatic predators better have like super sensory and be able to detect motion as long as their snout is in the water. It would be realistic as well.
I'll always have it where most of the Semi-Aquatics can actually see through water like some species of birds such as Osprey's, their eyes specialized with blocking out the sun. The only one I wouldn't give this is Spinosaurus because its too OP at this point lmfao Also, where have you got those size charts which you showed for Sucho and Deinocheirus? Just curious.
The isle waters are going to be so cool! I feel like eventually afterthought will give in and add a mosasaur or other fully aquatic animals. I'm curious how that would change the water meta.
Very interesting discussion. Deino is always going to be a terrifying threat - but I agree with you about Sucho, I think a full grown Sucho should be able to scare off a full grown deino - or at least make each creature really think twice about getting into that fight.
I think it’d make sense for it to depend on water depth, like in deep water it shouldn’t really be that much of a hassle for the trex sized monster to kill a singular sucho but in shallower areas the sucho could take advantage of its height and agility to make the odds a bit more even.

As mostly Deino-Player, eating Beipis is simply not worth it. King-Fish provides the same Nutrient and is much less of a hassle to get. Also, having Beipies around you lures other Predators in, which make for much better Meals. I think it's the starting phase, where Deinos are curious about something new to hunt, jut to realize it's not worth it.
I'm a deino main and I never kill beipis. They are the perfect lure for deinos. They make herbs and Carnis think the water is safe. I love when a whole group of beipis flock around me while I sit on a riverbed
@MinecrafWolf Yeah that's the kind of gameplay I'm always hoping for when playing Beipi because the amount of other dinos we lure towards the water is insane. But all the deinos I've met seemed to have had funky looking chicken on their dinner plans.

I’m honestly glad we got the inaccurate, muscular and monsterous jp3 spino. I can’t imagine the accurate skinny, twig legged spino being able to remotely put up a fight against a deinosuchus
It would be cool if smaller semi-aquatics could dodge a lunge, it would be like Dryo's dodge bars just that these come into play only when a lunge connects with you. This would make drinking for semi-aquatics a little bit easier and something to keep in mind as a Deinosuchus player.

Deinosuchus is actually a prehistoric alligator, it doesn’t have the crocodile belly crawl and it’s able to gallop in short distances. The snout is also ‘U’ shaped........ sorry if I’m criticizing I just like to state facts
OMG your video was so good! It explained everything perfectly like with Spinosaurus, deinosuchus having competition with our big duck friend and such, baby and Austro and the other dinos u mentioned were awesome! Might I add that this video today actually made me realise that such had a concept art and I didn't even know lol. When I saw its it looks amazing. It basically showed its play style but not its fighting style. To me, it should use it'd claws a lot like bare but with less efficiency and more brawler capabilities. Not sure how that will happen but we can just think of it like this. It will have 3 main mid tier rivals. They should be either bary, allo or Alberto. How ever out of all the dinos it will have as rivals, Mary is its main one since they will likely come into contact with each other more often. It will obviously have the upper hand but will have three aquatic rivals it will stay away from no matter how skilled in combat they really are. Deinosuchus, deinocheirus and Spinosaurus. These three behemoths will not stand any of the such or bars near their territory and will scare them off. That's all for my idea's, if I will be honest I didn't have much idea's for sucho since he is the only mid their with an almost identical family member being wary. You never disappoint with your video's and Im so happy you sent this video. THANKS BRO! :D
Personally i never like the old spino so when i saw the new one i felt in love he is just perfect looking can't wait to see all the different color people will do with this beautifull monster
I see it as this basically: Minmi: burrow or be super deep underwater with foliage covering it to escape a deino Austro: use its eyebrows to see an incomming deino (like shown in the concept) Bary: is really tricky to say but probably really agile in the water, alot of oxygen and good speed to escape on land Sucho: wont engage with deino because its a wadder thats mostly in shallow waters where deinos most likely arent Spino and cherry: fuck up deino
I was so exited and still am for Baryonyx. Baryonyx has allways been my one of my favorite dinosaurs. I was worried on how Baryonyx would face Deinosuchus as well. I hope The Isle developers are able to work thing out with them. It will be sad to see if Baryonyx sucks because Deinosuchus kills them without a fight. i think the only way we could have barys and suchos in evrima, is to change how deino water sense work. Make it more directional to emphasize a ambush mind set for deinos. and have other semi-aquatic ability to stand at waters edge and snatch fish. Any deino player with some brain activity would never let his stamina fully deplet.

Deinosuchus is a tanky Heavy tier dinosaur that benefits from two methods. Ambush and Scavenging. While they do tend to get bodied by a Good Stego player they are practically invulnerable to anything smaller than a Stego or another Deino which is why it's gonna be cool to see some Dinosaurs that can throw their weight around and fight back against Deinosuchus. Spinosaurus and Deinochierus are currently the two contenders for Deino hunters, however Deinochierus still needs to be cautious I believe because a few solid headshots will put the Goosemother down for the count, and Deino no longer needs to actively worry about the flanks of the giant Murder Goose like it does with Stego. Spinosaurus is a completely different beast to tackle entirely, and if it gets to weaponize every aspect of itself I do Believe that unless Deinosuchus gets a new growth stage to become heavier, it is entirely screwed. Last I remember, Spinosaurus is going to be 9 tons and have a gruesome 450-500 newton biteforce. Which essentially means that it will be able to match Deinosuchus's damage and tank more. For right now, I'm excited for Update 7 to see the drop of Dilo, Herrara, and Diablo as well and I'm glad mid tiers are getting some much-needed love. Although I can't wait to see some more big boys.
"mother of all geese" that a befitting name for dienocherius! and a funny idea i had was if juvi bary and juvi suchos looked identical and they can group up with eachother untill auto disbanding when they neared sub-adult. it would give a extra layer of safety in numbers and would lead to funny moments where either species realise their not the same species

if the baryonix was able to swim through the water faster and drain dienos stam when its grabbed i think that would significantly help it, with most other dinos the dieno just has to grab them and take them to the middle then let go and bite while they try to swim to shore, you dont even need to drown most things
Agreed not overpowered it's just we don't have much that can stand up to it. I am hopeful for the next couple of added dudes. I don't what it will be like for more water dudes that is a great thing to think about.

Gonna be honest, got this video in my recommended and expected a X Zaguer ripoff. I think you've done enough to separate yourself and I loved the bit about Austroraptor. It's already my favorite of the Legacy roster, but that video of the heron swimming underwater was new to me and I really can't wait for it to be similar to that. I personally like the shoulder feathers, and I think people will grow to like them after customizing them a bit. Suchos concept id say is one of tje best, actually portraying it like an animal and not a killing machine and its mechanic being more for survival than straight pvp i love it. Its now my new fav spinosaurid out of the three
I just wish medium to large sizes semi-aquatic animals would have more weight in their walk/run animation to show some struggle, since they evolved to stay in water. Smol spinos could be faster and lighter when walking/running but the larger the spino, the more weight should be added to their walk/run to simulate the effort. Legacy did it well by giving spino a bit of a stop between each step and a weighing down a bit to show its struggle.
i think a decent way to balance the deino may be (and please give criticism if this idea needs tweaks) is increase the stamina usage for lunges - perhaps 60%. additionally, make stam regeneration in the water very slow. to regen quickly, the deino has to get out of the water to sun itself, opening an opportunity for other carnivores to ambush it, or just warn smaller dinos that a deino is in the area. additionally, reduce the underwater dash speed, so the deino is not as mobile underwater, as well as showing ripples/bubbles on the surface when one is moving
honestly if deinosuchus saw a good amount of rebalancing as more semi-aquatics came to the game, that would not be surprising to me. rn it doesnt need to leave breathing room for other creatures, but later on it obviously will
Spinosuarus being serious threat for deinos would be good, only so many large semi aquatics can be at the top and that is a nice back and forth, especially when you think of elder deinos having a better chance
I think it's funny that you showed a video of an Anhinga, which is the bird they took the idea of Austro's shoulder feathers from right after mentioning how odd the shoulder feathers look haha. I'm hoping they just look odd in the render position (I personally think Austro's render has a weird perspective) and sleek down like in the video you demonstrated, or maybe just spike up for its threaten.
I don’t know how it could necessarily fit in but maybe all three spinosaurs or least bary could have like some type of sensor advantage because of the sensors on their snout they could have possessed in order to detect an approaching denio like a timed dodged or split second moment
Devs promised to add temporary ponds and rivers. It would be great place to get fish that could swim up from regular rivers etc. for barys or suchos. I really want to see river deltas that will create entire new semi-aquatic eco system like on Nile or Danube rivers
I don't mind th spino model, but it isn't up to date with what paleontologists think spino looked like, but that's still just what they think it look like because we can't be sure. At this point, the spinosaurus has changed its appearance so many times throughout the years that it's open to enterpritation.
I hope we get like certain areas best fit for each species diet, maybe having different food or underwater veg to encourage them to stay in their areas. But also implement rewarding the risk. For example deinos can struggle with getting food so they are rewarded to cannibalise or band together and try ambush Spinos as in the wild, crocs will swarm together to rip apart prey.
I think when there should be a ability where when your near a deino It should get some sort of buff wether it’s speed damage health or even oxygen it would be a good way to deal with deino or just make wider rivers so it’s not forced to be right next to deino
The idea would be pretty exploitable for mixpackers. So wider rivers and of course lakes not connected to rivers would be optimal. Gateway should suffice for this
I had the idea that since the Deino isn't a dinosaur and therefore not warm-blooded, it's the killer machine during the day, but is significantly slower and weaker at night when it's colder and should avoid confrontations with suchos. This would mean that the hunter-prey ratio would shift during the day, with the deinos ruling during the day but giving way to the warm-blooded dinosaurs at night.
It'll be a challenging balancing act for them for sure when the bigger absolute monsters start coming in. The smaller ones definitely need good and fun mechanics to still be picked. I kinda also hope that T-rex and Spino will have a mechanic in play where they kinda have to eat something larger every now and then to keep their strenght... so they can't just keep on eating small stuff easily. This would drive the huge apex predators to actually fight over who is the alpha if there's some sort of a reinforced vibe that food and/or territory has to be fought over more... Mostly so it won't just be servers full of deinos, rexes and spinos fully grown and hunting down anything smaller as an ultimate powertrip, since that'd eliminate the smaller role pickrate for sure :S :D
Well, the dev's aren't intending at the moment to let them be playable on official. So they likely wont balance them for play.. similarly to how legacy had dino's who were not built for survival.
@@sarcasm-83 They've said numerous times that they have no intention on any apex being playable as they dont think they could balance them. They may change their mind, but in all honesty they're wishy washy with their decisions.
For the Spino v Deino matchup, I think it'd be a 50/50. Whoever gets the ambush on the other will probably have a good chance at winning compared to the ambushee.
If you think about it. Adding the deino first is a good thing cuz one it is a marketing thing and two name one tropical biome that hasnt had a crocodilian of some sorts
Honestly, I'd love if the Spino had a "Fuck around and Find out" Lifestyle when dealing with either Deino or just other Carnivores in general. Like, it wouldn't need to be the beefiest, because one hit from those claws could fuck up most things that decided to find out. Besides, the Idea of a Deino realizing its mistake when it fucks up a Lunge and a Spino just turns to look at it is hilarious in my opinion.
Petition to add Halszkaraptor as the main predator for beipi. I had this idea of it being able to run on water for a short amount of time if it builds up enough speed first like modern-day basilisks and being just as good a swimmer as beipi.
an idea for baryonx is that it can fight back while being lunged and it does the same damage to the deino as the deino does to the croc or more idk just an idea that people can expand on
I feel like once deinocheirus comes around with deinosuchus it would be like a hippo and crocodile relationship where both could pretty much f each other up, and may not even try and fight at all.
