k24 swapped mine, I've owned my 8th gen for 5 years. It's super clean, reliable, smooth at top speeds, great long distance car. And I can literally drive this all year long while my SRT-4 parks in for harsh summer days in AZ. These platforms are going to be a serious $$ someday due to rarity and quality.
Absolutely! You can just feel how the quality has improved and just how special the car feels when you’re driving it! A true gem even completely stock! Having that k24 torque would be crazy!
Also, both k24 and k20 engines when put under heavy load often does cause oil consumption. Completely normal. Very very lightly, and it's pretty reasonable. Just top it off every 1,000 miles or so. If you are HARD on your car, expect that. Even race cars are like this, engine physics. (MY srt-4 is the same way, every kseries and bseries ive owned. Ive owned other car manufactures which are similar)
My watch history says I first viewed this on June 17th - finally picked up an fa5 today I mostly lurk but I wanted to say thank you for all of the content you've been putting out. Excited to see the future of Nezuko!
Just watching you drive through those twisties how relaxed and easy going it is these cars were way ahead of their time and their steering is f****** amazing I drive a new car and I immediately missed the steering of these Hondas
The 8th gen is definitely the best gen especially those early 8th gens 06/07/08 for coupe's the golden years before the facelift ... I thought they looked beautiful before the facelift
I have no transmission issues in my 06 240,000 MI Honda made this transmission they did not have any transmission issues with the r18 if you're talking about the SI that was the synchros it's an easy fix
28:10 Btw Honda doesn't care if you bang gears or not. Rev hang is just the ECU trying to achieve better emissions by delaying the throttle plate closing to burn any remaining fuel. Unfortunately rev hang makes it harder to shift smoothly and quickly at the same time.
One problem I have is the fact that people say these Si tend to get stolen. How do you prevent that? I want to get one myself but I would hate to wake up and my car isn’t there anymore
Honestly hard to say sadly but can try some things to make it less appealing to steal like. Not leaving items in the car for them to see. Maybe getting a club or removable steering wheel. And get a loud exhaust so if it starts in the night you know it's yours 😂
I have the 9th gen Si and I see other 9ths speed as I pass. Thing is a cop has to speeding to see if you're speeding. Pisses me off cops speed all the time with no light emergencies and they give civilians tickets for same what they're doing.
