People have such complimentary things to say about DT's craft section I was really hopeful! But yikes I'm glad I never pinned my learning hopes on a kit like this when I was learning. It also surprises me that it's such a small size and gauge, that's so hard for learning on!!
If you already know how to crochet, the DT craft section can have some good bargains. I could just see a beginner picking up this kit and trying to learn, only to be extremely disappointed. Starting with complicated worsted weight ami is probably a bad idea for any beginner 😆😅 It would've broken my spirit!
If I had bought this kit as a beginner, I would have given up. I learned basic crochet on RU-vid, but I have to say my first amigurumi was a woobles kit. The woobles are truly for beginners, but that being said, they are very, very expensive in my opinion, so not many people can afford them. Having these kits in a dollar store is wonderful, but I feel bad for any beginner attempting them. Even if you do Google the stitches, like you said, the instructions are totally wrong. Thank god for RU-vid and people like you who share their talent with the rest of us! ❤
I can imagine being a beginner and picking up this kit, then giving up because it is so confusing! People do seem to love Woobles, but they do seem overpriced. I've heard people collect the customized crochet hooks you get in the Woobles kits. I think it would be cheaper to just buy a custom hook 😆 I worry that confusing kits like these from Dollar Tree might deter people from crocheting rather than teach them. Thanks for your support! ❤️😊
So cool you got all the supplies and stuff for 1.25 but eek the instructions are so bad that I would’ve given up in a puddle of tears as a beginner. Though some amigurumi still has me giving up and in a puddle of tears
I just found the other Dollar Tree crochet kits the other day, the ones I mentioned toward the end of the video. These have diagrams only as instructions, so I am in for a TREAT 😆 I'll film it so that everyone can enjoy the pain 😫😆
Animal kits are only diagrams. My sister got one for my niece because she wanted to make a unicorn. I know have the yarn sitting in my stash no directions because she got so frustrated she threw them away. I am going to make her a unicorn just because it’s what she tried.
I manag3d to find all 6 Dollar Tree animal crochet kits right after this video posted, but I haven't tried one yet. Diagrams are definitely more difficult to read, but are cool because they can be understood by anyone without translation like written instructions. The problem is, no one know how to read them here 😆 I'm going to give them a go and see if I can make em! Good luck with your unicorn! 🦄
