@@gracefacecreates I'm still pretty new at crocheting. I have been able to find a lot of yarn at thrift stores for a good deals. Now I am learning there is so much more to yarn than just the color to think about with a project.
@@gracefacecreates I think it is super wonderful. Hands down you should get a Big Blue 1st place ribbon. The curly stem is so cool. If you made two of them you could make a hat with horns. That might be difficult because you would have to make one opposite. But you could make just one really big and put a couple of leaves on it and make some dirt and a pot. That would look like a Jack in the bean stock plant in the first stage of sprouting. Good luck at the fair...have fun.

If anyone is confused there is five rows per stripe. She just explains it as making the foundation chain then the one on top of it is the first official row.
🫠😩 You are completely correct and I’m now making my ribbed portion between the two panels and I kept looking at it thinking dang this is quite small so I opted to add a 12 stitch chain along the bottom and a 10 stitch chain along the two panels 🤦🏻♀️ It’s too late to restart but maybe I can recreate next year! Hahahahha

I've been crocheting for literally decades but have only been chosen for testing one time. I've applied over thirty times and after not getting chosen for the last one, I gave up. I guess because I don't have a huge following on IG, no one will ever pick me, regardless of my pics of things I've made...so what's the point of wasting my time applying.
Aw, I'm so sorry you've had that experience! It can be really frustrating to be skipped over for so many tests. I totally understand not applying! That would be very frustrating. I hope that if you decide to try again that you'll have better luck ❤️
I've been working on making this for a few weeks now. I just finished the collar trim section. Since its so large I was working on it with it being kind of all in a pile and didn't realize until the end that I had "ruffles". Do you have any idea what I might've done wrong? I did the bottom trim just fine and did the collar trim the same way so I'm not sure what I might've done. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
It sounds like there might be too many stitches around the collar. It's hard to say for sure without seeing it. In general, ruffling comes when there are extra stitches in an area. Is it possible that you SLST to the same stitch when connecting the ribbing to the sweater at the end of each row? Sometimes, it is hard to tell what ST you are on. If you SLST to a ST that already housed a SLST, it would create an "extra" row (if that makes sense). Thank you! I tend to overthink everything that has some benefits outside of all the major drawbacks 😅 The silicone bead hooks are much better than I anticipated, and I have enjoyed customizing my hooks with them ❤️
Oh my goodness! So fun! Good luck at the fair! I used to run the exhibit section at my county’s fair and it was very different from year to year. We never knew what kind of entries to expect, but I don’t recall ever seeing anything like your hat!
I spoke with a lady in the Fair office yesterday and she acted like she'd never seen anything like what I described haha I'm excited to see the other entries! 😁

really glad i found this pattern because i was going to buy a btljuice cardigan from DANGERFIELD but their entire "sandworm" collection has vanished so i'm pretty sure they got a cease and desist from the btljuice ppl

Did you do the gauge swatch? That might help you to make sure you are making the correct length/width. The gauge swatch is used as a pocket, so I recommend making it before attempting the full sweater

It occurred to me after starting this video that I could've given an email for people to send me photos if they don't have socials. I am going to include that option in future tester calls so that more people can be considered ❤️ Thank you for applying! I appreciate it 🥰
I would love to do testing but my ADHD really hinders me with this. I mean, I crochet as a hobby and I'm worried I wouldnt be able to perform in time. Also, I dont post my crafts online which disqualifies me to tester calls anyway. Cool to have insight how the process works though
I'm going to include alternate ways to get me photos of your work in future tester calls so that people without socials can still be considered ❤️ I have ADHD, too, so I totally understand the issue with finishing stuff! I've managed to build up my ability to finish things over the years, but the pile of unfinished objects I have is quite the mountain 😅😅
I feel the same way and have yet to apply to be a pattern tester! I'm afraid I might get overwhelmed or something might come up that causes me to fall behind in the deadline. I would be afraid of feeling like I failed myself and the pattern designer's expectations.
