Is This Even a Summer Event? 

This "Event" makes the previous one we had last chapter actually Look amazing! At least chapter 4 had some decorations for the summer event, all we got for this one just A lame NPC and Glorified Daily quests telling us to just do what we normally do

What dev looked at this event and decided, “yep, sounds good to me”???? Absolutely 0 effort was put into this event

They spent all their summer budget on fancy cars 💀

Yeah this event feels rushed/lazy since it just looks like they grabbed some summer like items and said earn these and that's your summer. Looks like there was little to no effort towards this summer event if u consider past events.

That’s what I’ve been saying. It feels like we just got a new quest line and that’s it. This is far from an event by my standards.

I will stand and die on this cliff no matter how controversial it is, EPIC DOES NOT DESERVE THE 2 WEEK BREAK! I would normally forgive them, but the lack of summer content, as well as chapter 5 being almost unplayable when compared to other chapters, makes it hard to justify leaving the game for two weeks, when the game plays like it is still unfinished. I know I sound a bit harsh, but I’m tired of Fortnite trying to make this “find it in Fortnite” thing work. There is too many modes for them to handle. So what do they do, they add another one. Yeah reload is good, but if we didn’t have it, we would have more effort going into the core game. At this point, cut some modes. They did it with imposters, so why not party royale or team rumble, or even better, just abandon rocket racing. I know they will never get rid of a “core mode” like rocket racing, but only around 1% of people actually cares enough about rocket racing. I’m tired so yeah.

I miss when epic listened to the community, now they do whatever they want without giving af about the community because they're a big and greedy corporation

I find it hilariously ironic how epic games are able to afford to do collaborations but not focus on its community.

This summer event is not even a summer event! The only thing you do is do quests for items and the magneto things came. They didn’t even add just a small little summer area this summer event unlike last year. The only new weapon this event is magneto powers unlike last year they added back some more things. Even last years summer event had a summer skin. Last years summer event was WAY BETTER even though lot of people didn’t like it last year. Hope they can improve their events for summer in the future, and even maybe other events. But at least they are adding the pirates of the Caribbean event.

Epic used to care about how the player experienced their game. Effort was put into events like this and winterfest and now they have become nothing more than some challenges with XP. The focus has gone into skins and things they can put in the item shop. Everyone is excited for the Pirates update but all it will be is more money for Epic with minimal changes to the game. I mean, how excited can you get for the flintknock to be unvaulted once again. People used to love seeing all the little tweaks they would make during a season, new gun here, new landmark there....hey even a LTM once in a while. Having an evolving fresh game is way more important than a new skin you can get in a item shop that never changes.

Can't really complain content wise as we're getting Metallica, Pirates and Fall Guys almost back to back. I still prefer Fortnite original events over collab focused ones. We had a nice streak of those with Fortnitemares, Winterfest and Rise of Midas. They don't even have to be seasonal holiday themed. Most Wanted in C4S1 was amazing! I'm not dissapointed with the amount of content, more so the heavy collab focus

Hot Take: We don’t need summer events. We JUST got done with the Metallica event, and we’re going to head into a POTC Event in a week. I don’t really think a “summer event” with huge changes is necessary.

No, and people who says we got reload etc. Those guys just try to make this event better cause reload wasnt part of this event if it would have been it would have been released now and not like month ago.

Look at the huge new really popular mode that they made for everyone. Reload is literally tons of new gameplay content. Also, there’s rewards for that mode too. Suddenly everyone is acting like they are making nothing.

i think more passive quests are good as they let you play normally and play for fun while also getting the rewards the cosmetics are decent free rewards but overall a small event

The event is only in ranked mode. They failed to mention that. Its just a beach poi that they added with a lake and a boat and a shark. And theres a cave next to it it you can go in to. Other than that, its pretty weak.

My friend is released The Summer event early instead and then have to wait for another week or 4 weeks

It figures the thing I was looking forward to got the least amount of effort, lol. Epic Games has been dropping the ball in quality lately if you ask me. The in game store regurgitates a lot of the same content due to the LEGO mode, some events get no effort while others get too much focus, and a lot of the battle pass skins ended up being underwhelming to a lot of people when they had better concept art characters to choose from. I’m still hoping the hyena character will get in despite Scarr being in the game.

What we as a community failed to realize it’s not an event it’s just a quest line it never was advertised as a summer event

I think its because theres only so much you can fit into the game.

None of the quest really have anything to do with summer. How about some swimming quests. They should have had some ice cream booths to break, lemonade booths get drinks from, Watermelons to eat, beach balls to kick, break beach umbrellas, and such things in game for such quests. This is the lamest summer event. Yeah, they OBVIOUSLY put no thought into it cause they're too busy going on break. Not going to bother doing Reload and no build quests. They should have added boats too.

Following the lackluster Winterfest last year I was hoping the Summer event would be a good bounceback event but nope. I assume 'Reload' is being viewed as the big Summer time LTM. Begs the question, do we want official Summer/Winter events or do we want this mid-season mini-passes because thats what the choice seems to be

Like with the latter half of Ch5 Season 2, Fortnite sacrificed the original parts of the game for the sake of collabs.

I know what happened. Epic partnered with Bethesda. Bethesda told Epic you can pass Grind as Content ie Fallout76. Epic bring out summer event.

Yeah, I have to say, aside from the rewards, this summer event feels very underwhelming. It feels more like they’re promoting being a freaking sweat; the one type of player in this game that I think literally every other player in this game despises with a passion. Sorry Epic, but 0/5 for this “summer event”, if you can even call it that. 😢

Reload was probably the main gimmick for the summer it seems. We technically got 6 cosmetics if you combine the reload rewards and the summer rewards. These type events are dead in my opinion.

The 14 days of summer was the last good summer event U could earn a new item eah day!! Plus they kept rotating vaulted weapons in & out of the game it was amazing!! Like I read from other comments they truly put zero effort into this event anymore!!

I have a feeling that they really don't care about the community, what they want, first they destroyed the game, then they canceled the value of the skins, then they destroyed the whole IU, they gave us a fortnite reload where if you win one game, the next game you play against the strongest people in the world, a multibillionaire company btw...smh

This summer event is just such a nothing sandwich, especially since this is the 2nd summer event to feature the Underwriter and yet he isn't a skin? Then the glider is just a reskin.

No rare item shops

So you now get mid season events, regular mid loot and map changes, an event battle pass which in two weeks means Pirates apparently - none of which were a thing when Summer Season used to be slightly bigger but guess what - kids still whinging about a lack of more free stuff- I'm shocked

I want to be happy. I don't understand how come a game can't give me the happiness I deserve...

The reality is they don t care about us anymore. I hate this game right now. The Fortnitemares will be bad too, and the Winterfest will be the worst of them all. They don t give a f about us anymore. I ll soon quit playing this game. This is no longer Fortnite.

All the past events had 5 rewards or more and was worth it. This event just has 3 and doesnt even look good its like the winterfest 2023 all over again once again ruining an event that was supposed to be a nice fun way to earn cosmetics

I really think their mindset is now that when the ship starts sinking they do just enough to plug the hole. The item shop has nothing to do with that thought process so why does it stink so bad. They do enough to make that projected cash goal for the month. NO MORE Just Less

I know this is going to be another negative comment about how the game is having issues but its kinda true, now I haven't played chapter 3 season 4 and all season of chapter 4 so I don't know what fortnite was before chapter 5 came but fortnite to me has changed a lot and the metaverse idea is an okay take but it did lead some issues and some other things along with it, like the issues that im having with fortnite is the secret skins not being secret in the battle pass, lego effect cosmetics to not come out until they get and lego style, event skins like some Halloween skins during not the right event, item shop looks messy, the locker still hasn't changed even though they said they'll change it back, rarity is gone meaning they can change prices and there were a few that did became a bit expensive like the avatar bundles, guardians of the galaxy bundle and the my hero academia bundles, like there are couple things I want to say an issue with fortnite but what I'll say is I want fortnite to be fortnite not fortnite to be metaverse and its not that I hate they're ideas as much but as an OG player that likes the old times. So I'm hoping for now fortnite gets better soon and bringing back some OG stuff to bring back that popular game we all know before

Last year's summer event was also lame all we had was a little island with chairs and quests I haven't played Fortnite in 2 weeks as I've gone back to GTA online playing their own summer update as Fortnite doesn't interest me in its current format

Isn't the sweat event based around the theme of nerfing the cool twisted metal theme stuff for ranked games? I thought that was the entire concept. And a summer event was coming after. So people who just want to be sweaty nerds can play shotguns only or rather shotguns only build mode.

This whole chapter is bad and creatively bankrupt. Winterfest sucked, battle royale has taken a back seat to worse gamemodes that have no players anymore, plus no big live events. The only thing keeping me to play this gams is reload.

I do not understand this at all tbh. In chapter 1 and 2 we had item shop collabs + big events for these collabs (remember endgame LTM?) + big holliday events + tons of rewards + big live events at least every 2 seasons + stuff outside the game like comic books + LTM's + multiple big map changes spread over a season + tons of unique features every season etc. etc. And now you're telling me they can't make a better summer event because of 2 collabs? Metallica only have us a rift island update, 1 item and some repetitive quests. Pirates of the Caribbean will be a bit bigger in terms of mapchanges, and 1 item again, but thats also it. The minipasses aren't as big as the first few they did. Also unlikely that we'll have some sort of LTM. This is just ridiculous. And don't even try talking about the other modes. Except the lego star wars thing and the low effort metalica concert, they also never get something big. Instead of putting all their money in this stupid disney bullshit and UEFN (which also didn't turn out AT ALL as they wanted) they should have kept their employees and kept fortnite going as it should have. Also the New modes were just way too much at once. They should have released only 1 of those and maybe more over time. I know i look like a whiny kid now. But after years of playing this game without a single break, i'm finally reaching a point where even i am getting tired of this game. I swear, if they fuck up the marvel season and ESPECIALLY the chapter 2 OG season (just like they kinda fucked up the chapter a OG season), i'll be done with this game...
