Yup. Agree. Love some of the new creative and deconstructive takes from Alvin Leung , the Liang Brothers , Susur Lee, Philip Chiang, Kylie Kwong, David Chang etc.
They need to bring back real estate to a reasonable price so that people are paying for food and not rent. Clean up the crazy homeless problems in NYC, this past year, it's very sad to see Chinatown "shut down" by 8PM b/c people are scare to be roaming the streets of Chinatown when it gets dark.
awesome bites! hope you get to checking out the Chinatown here in Toronto Ontario, we've got some great Asian spots scattered around our Chinatown area
thats awesome to see the Yaki niku in NYC, when I was in Okinawa there was a place on Highway 1 call Gann Jyu Tei, a lot of the Yaki niku restaurants in Okinawa were owned by Japanese Koreans so they had the side dishes there too and I ate there once a week it was the best restaurant ever
I heard one of the owners of the Pot Luck Club say the perception of Chinatown being a cheap eats place has got to change. Maybe he's right but it'll be a shame if and when people can't get a great meal for 10 bucks any longer.
Actually, what's funny is that people love to go to the local Japanese restaurants, and try speaking Japanese to the waitstaff. Yeah, umm, they're all from Fuzhou. It's like speaking Italian to the cooks at the local Italian place. Ermmm...they speak Spanish or Greek.
I had a customer one time who tried to speak mandarin to me when not only do I speak Cantonese and don’t know lick of mandarin. Im the Americanized chinese where even my own Chinese sucks and sounds abhorrent to my parents and elders 😂
I’ve been seeing potluck club pop up and I’d be willing to give that a try. Although a part of me would say just go to a dim sum banquet hall in Chinatown, it’ll be cheaper, or it’s too salty 😂.
You guys should come back home and do food reviews of the spots in Seattle. The classic spots and the new joints we have here. (ie. Honey Court etc. etc. :P
What a super video with a tremendous amount of dishes from some very interesting restaurants! I was a bit difficult to follow the dish description because you guys were moving quite fast. I look forward to visiting Chinatown, Manhattan very soon.
What I love about Chinatown is that Asians, blacks, whites, and hispanics all shop there! If they don't mind the Chinese characters, a lot of good deals in produce, meats, and seafood!
I’m weird I don’t like fusion but I respect people who want to try something different. Just get me the old lady/man in the kitchen so I can taste the authenticity I experienced in China.
More Fung Bros food ahhhhhh!!! Ho sik!!!! Hen hao chi!!! Tai hao chi!!! Now gimmie some wonton soup knoodle!!! Wok chow, wok hay, chow wok, hai yah!!! ♡ =]
I would like you guys to kindly suggest you make a specific schedule for visiting the largest Chinatown where is situated at San Fransisco, CA, the U.S.
