A lot has been happening with the Jeep Gladiator build in just the last few weeks. When I was invited to SEMA and the LA Auto Show, I knew there were some things that needed to get done quickly, so in this video I’m going to catch you up on all the updated modifications (lift kit, tires, led lights, winch, roof rack, bed rack, rooftop tent, fridge and more), give you my opinions about what’s been installed, talk to you about some changes I’ll be making and what future projects are coming.

@@wanderingaimlessly. Toyota's are more reliable, peroid. Jeeps are more capable, and going topless, doorless is awesome. I have both - but I have a 4Runner as a daily because it is reliable, basic, and will work - peroid. I wheel the crap out of my Jeep and I love it to death. The comment was contrary to what you think, but suggesting someone buys a Yoder and not a Jeep doesn't make him a troll - and since I work on Jeeps, I can tell ya that the electrical issues with the JKU are a real thing! Glad to hear that your Wranglers have been good to you - but the lemons are out there, and that's where the Wrangler reliability comments are coming from!

I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with 150,000 miles on it. I've been 50/50 Highway and Offroad. I've done at least one trail in every state. And feel confident I'll be able to do another 150,000 miles in my rig. I use synthetic oil, and do whatever maintenance is scheduled. I do half the mileage for maintenance due to the harsh driving I do. Feel confident in your purchase. You can see all the places I've been on instagram. Hope to see you on the trail!

Great video Brad. Just curious how much all the accessories cost to this point or if any is given to you as part of a sponsorship. It's great to see the progress so far but I find it hard to believe an average person can afford to do so much so quickly. I think when the more popular channels show all the upgrades it would be helpful for the average guy to get an idea of cost. It would go a long way towards helping the person that wants to get to that level set some kind of priority of how to get their. Thanks again for another great vid.

I agree! This may also make people think unrealistically to what you “need” to overland. I like to see what’s available and possible like the rest of us, but is this really necessary, esp on the platform such as the gladiator.

This is one of turn off to these videos maybe because I am jealous there seems to be no end to the cost of all these additions to buy a Galdiator and then do all these add ons I would have to say must be at least in the $80 to 85 grand so far.

Europe has good experience with Fiat diesels, we'll see how it goes with this new built for FCA which obviously had no chance to prove it self yet, the problem is people keep saying things they like to say and don't really care what the reality is, I still see people's comments on Chrysler transmissions on today's Ram models which is totally invalid as simple example

I’ve been driving Jeeps since the ‘70s and my current one is my 8th, a ‘18 JLU Rubicon. I waited years for them to come out with a pickup - and I don’t like it. Something about it just doesn’t look right to me.

That’s exactly how I feel . I think it’s the square cab that throws it off. The Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram 1500 are better looking than the Gladiator.

I was just talking to a buddy of mine about the gladiator and I was saying that I hope they come out with a shell for it, then I would be interested, the compressor in that dometic that I have I know would be much happier breathing clean air... great minds right ? I saw this Gladiator at the LA Autoshow. Took lot's of pictures of it and with it. You need a SYNERGY FRONT TRACK BAR & SECTOR SHAFT BRACE. I noticed Marco's Jeep has it. For safety's sake, everyone should have it. When you do finally install it, be sure to replace the 4 Steering Box Bolts with Grade 8 Bolts.

Ian 6'.3" drive a jeep jlur have room it could be More but not bad on head room my only problem is the the rear mirror isn't ajustble you cant move the whole mirror up and the sound bar is a bit low wish it was higher

Not really though. I had the same setup as you with the Leitner rack and a heavy RTT. Total weight for the rack and tent were close to 400lbs. I now have the AT Overland Summit camper and its 340lbs. 1000x better than the Leitner and RTT setup! My Leitner rack sucked bad. It leaked like crazy up here in the PNW and they couldn't fix it. Said they "are not waterproof, just water resistant"...

btw be very careful with those electronics in the pods. It will leak, not a matter of if, but when due to the design.

how did you connect a RAM mount to a 67D arm? the RAM mounts come in A (9/16") and B (1") sizes. the 67D however is a 20mm (about 25/32") socket. was the 67D arm able to expand to a B size ball? edit: ok. i found the 'DAM adapter' from 67D for $19... converts a 20mm socket end to 1".

Had the same problem with exactly the same configuration. I just had one spare mount from 67D and modified the ram mount. I ended up mounting it together. But for the futur I will go with adapters. 67D should add to their products different ball sizes.

@@veganoverlander my issue is i'm trying to find out a good way to mount my traildash2 to a RAM mount. i'm honestly NOT a fan of 67D, and 67D is the ONLY ONE i've found that has an adapter/mount for the back of the TD2. but it's to their 20mm ball only. and RAM is 1"... thinking i'll have to fab something up... just exploring options at this point!

@@dobrzpe well I used a lot the 67D with all different kind of tablets and Iphones. I monted them for my clients in all kind of Jeeps and I can say the quality and the products are the best. Yes they are pricy, but they work. The only regret I have (not specially to 67D) is all the different sizes. RAM are more to 1" balls, Vector have all kind of sizes and 67D are mostly 20mm. It would be nice if all would be the same. But I also found some kind of adapters I think it's Arkon Mounts.

@@veganoverlander holy $hit. *THANK YOU SO MUCH* for mentioning 'Arkon Mounts'!! i've never heard of them and they have exactly what i've been looking for for *YEARS* ! i can't believe it! well, i shouldn't speak to soon, i guess, but their 'dual t' mount is what i'm looking for to mount the traildash2. i'll have to order the "25mm Ball to Arkon Dual T-Tab" from them to see if it fits the back of the TD2, but i'm 99% sure it's EXACTLY what i want! god damn. THANKS, buddy!!

There's no doubt that both Trailrecon and AutoEdits have me sketching out new renderings on my CJ and Ram. With that said the Gladiator build is just not practical. If you total up the cost I just don't see spending 90 to 100k for any jeep.

Again the diesel. Not a jeep but has the same emissions. DEF fluid. This past Sunday i went to leave home and the gauge for DEF fluid said empty when in fact it was 3/4 full. The computer only knew empty so to the dealership... in route the engine cut power step by step. I made it there at literally 6mph for the last mile. Day later bad sending unit. I figured that. Estamit just over 1500 bucks. Its now Wednesday i still dont have it back. Not my first diesel and not the first emission related repair. In fact it has been the only engine "fail" i have ever experienced driving many diesel trucks with engines from manufacturers that ONLY make diesel engines for over 500,000 miles. Stick with gas. O and dont forget when off rosding... that DEF tank is another "fuel" tank under the jeep to ptotect and i say fuel because it will not run without it.

Maybe it's just me but I can't see spending wheelbarrows full of money on something from the dealership and then putting more wheelbarrows full of money into it so it does what it was supposed to do when it was manufactured in the first place. Sorta like buying a Harley Davidson spending 40 Grand and then another 40 Grand to make it run like it was supposed to when it was first built. Oops there it is LOL PS before some smart-ass comes back at me and says that's cuz you can't afford it, guess again, I can LOL enjoy the videos but then Common Sense kicks in and then I move on. LOL Thanks again

Do homework on the FIAT diesel before you buy one! They have reliability issues, engine bearings etc. 100K miles is a lot on those unfortunately. If you do go that route, get a bulletproof warrantee for 75k-250k miles... If I were in your shoes, I'd take that red one to AEV and get a hemi.

I wouldn't wait for the diesel. No doubt the 3.0L diesel engine is great but it's the emission systems that will be problematic. DEF quality warning lights, regen doesn't always happen, clogged DPF and clogged DEF injectors to name a few.

Anyone know what Jeep Unique mount that is? Looking for a way to mount a Garmin Inreach Mini directly to a 67 Designs holder using the threaded hole in the back of the Garmin, not using the Garmin spine mount.

Brad, when you do the gear change make sure you do an acceleration comparison before and after too. Ie. 0-60. 👍

New N American diesels are a joke! The amount of emissions garbage underneath ruins them. The filter regens are an eternal headache. All of a sudden small diesels came along and N America got all eco concious! Service costs will be insane too. Only worth considering if you are a highway hauler. Either that or be brave and decat, straight through and remap but there goes your warranty.

A little fab work, you can cut the top bar that curves up, extend it out, flip the light bar, and weld it back on and should give the clearance needed. Light will hang just below where it's mounted now. Just an idea, but what you think?

Hey if your worried about dirt in your bed and getting on your gear, check out the racks that nuthouse industries makes. Custom built out of aluminum and linex coated. Their tech 3 series rack has a sliding cover over the bed like what the gator traxs tonnue covers do. They are out of ohio and have you tube videos of their rack options. Good people!

Any ideas for a camper/shell/top for the bed that can hold the weight of a rooftop tent. Does anyone know if there any covers that are comparable with bed racks. Been looking at lockable storage drawer system which looks like it would work with a rack and also can still throw gear/fridge on time and tie down maybe but dissent solve the dirt/mud/rain/snow issues.

The diesel will be great, but all the emissions aren't. I think DEF, and a cooker for off road will be a problem. I'll pass on diesel until the feds come to their senses and get rid of DEF, cooker and particulate filter.

I think you’re wrong about the diesel. Ram quit making the eco diesel after just a few years because they didn’t sell. They’re going to ask an arm and a leg for the Diesel engine and then there’s the added expense of the tier 4 emissions standards. Not to mention these new emissions engines are not going to get fantastic mileage compared to the 3.6 Chrysler can say what they want but I’ve been in and around Diesel engines my entire life and the newer engines are junk thanks to government regulations

At 2:19 you talk about the front bumper and the KC Pro 6's. Did you need anything specific to mount those to the steel bumper? I see that they are replacing a stock bolt. This is exactly what I need to do for my Northeast winter setup with amber lenses. I was snow blind with the white light and the fog lights don't put out enough light.

I used an existing bolt hole, but did have to enlarge it just a little for the Pro6 bolt to fit through.

For the bed rack why dont you do a diy thing and get some sheets of aluminum and box the rack in. Cut the holes out that the boxes and bins fit in it just right and use some rubber trim to cover up the edges and paint it all black bam done sir

Seems like some people have replaced the engine with a high torque electric motor and high capacity battery system then there is no need for a fuel tank and the throttle can be swapped out for an electronic speed controller.

For a very flexible ham radio install, consider a Yaesu FTM-100DR. The control panel can be mounted separately. I test drove a JLU (a man can always dream, right?) and I’d say the driving position is almost tighter than my Impreza, so space is at an even greater premium. What I did was mount my control panel where it was easily visible (above the rearview mirror actually), put the radio itself under the driver’s seat, and ran an auxillary speaker to an unused cubbyhole in the dash. The microphone is run into the center console, so it easily stows out of the way. The cord is long enough for either driver or passenger to use, and I can even stand outside the driver door and still easily use it. The Yaesu is easy to make or buy extension cables for, I have had zero luck getting any non Icom brand cable to work. It also comes with a programming cable and software, and has a GPS receiver built in too. The only think I don’t love about it is the display. The light blue color is great in sunlight and the daytime, but is a little more obnoxious than a red or amber would be at night.

if you buy a hypertech wheel size correction tool and correct the tire size in the computer it will help you get to the correct gear on the highway.

Not a fan of the Gladiator. I can’t get my head around the cost as compared to my 2016 JK ($32,000 stock). I have completed several extensive mods and the cost is still less than a new JT. And the bed causes stored items to get really dusty. Maybe I will change my opinion as time passes.

With all due respect to the absolute utmost, your bottomline review on the Patagonias is going to be preceived as somewhat tainted...even it isnt. Let's say, hypothetically speaking, even if you thought they arent as good as the STT Pros, would you still be able to be outright blunt about it? You're saying you still want to put the Patagonias to the test before you give us the low down yet you've already committed to having them on these Special Edition Trail Recon rigs from the dealership long before you were done grading the tires. So even if they had cons, how could you say so without leaving a blemish on the TR Jeep package you're offering? It's hard to take a review without a grain of salt if the person is partnered up with the company, regardless of the person's honor and integrity. Please dont take this the wrong way...I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm a long time supporter of the channel from the beginning, I was one of your first 10 Patreons before you closed up shop.

The 67 Designs phone holder is far superior to the RAM. The arms and balls are similar, but for me the phone holder is worth it.
