It started about 40 years ago, we were camping at Emory creek camp ground. (Love that camp ground. I learned to pan gold there. My kids loved the garnets. We had a lot more fun camping and panning and slushing on the Fraser river. I am 81 now and its harder to get out. Love Your videos thanks.
A trowel is about the only tool you'll need to find them. Loose soil is the best to search through for them, especially sand, sand fulgurites are the most sought after.
Your claim jumpers look a lot like those sheep herders that moved into a minors cabin. They might be those homesteaders from another channel Good crew!

Here in Queensland Australia, our gold prospecting laws were hard to understand the do's and don'ts, 2 months ago they changed the wording and its not good for us prospecters, I have a highbanker , 240v electric pump and generator to run it out on the creek and a battery powered 6 inch gold rat clean up sluice and 1100 gph pump i used to use at home,,, rules state now that under no circumstance are highbankers, powered sluices and any mechanical aid in prospecting is allowed at all,,,, that means even if you go out and pan a few buckets of cons or classify material to bring home and sluice it,,, its still not allowed,,, massive fines and total equipment confiscation applies, no ifs, but or maybes ,,, so this leaves me and many other QLD prospecters a few thousand dollars worth of equipment that is useless to us

When you start finding gold do you try to chase the path it came from? I'm pretty sure the small stuff would make it down. Would a bigger rock get suck as it finds its way to the bottom?
Thanks for explaining a lot of the rules. A placer miner once told me that if you're just hand panning, you don't have to worry about whether you're on a claim or not. Seems to me like that's still kind of claim jumping and not too ethical, but was wondering what the actual regulations are.

The pump's carb is slightly gummed up from old fuel and/or ethanol. Run some seafoam the next few times in the gas tank and also store it with seafoam or run it 100% dry. Only use chevron 94oct non ethanol fuel and should clear up. If not, clean the jets in the carb.

Hey Dan for an idea find yourself a rubber mat that's as long as you're sluice and as wide as your sluice I just started doing this stuff and I had a roll of rubber matting and I used it after I realized my sluice was sinking worked out great.
With how much gold is in the bottom of the sluice I guarantee that you are losing at least 40%.. You should put a 5 gallon bucket that your sluice runs the material into after leaving the sluice.. Then after like 20 minutes of hard running you should weigh what you catch in your sluice and weigh what you catch in your bucket.. The results will blow your Mind.. I know because I have done it!
How can you say 40% without even being there, without even knowing my ground or gold, without ever using my sluice, without ever testing my tailings. I HAVE! and I know I loose about 10% by running so hot, but by running so hot I can put through 100% more material. So I could slow down the flow and feed and get tyhe 10% back, or I could keep it the way it is pump through twice as much material, and even with the 10% loss, I am getting 180% more gold. This isn't my first rodeo man.

But I have used a 30" sluice and thought that I was getting most of my gold.. I then went to a 72" sluice and got a whole lot more.. Then I went to a 12' sluice and got incredible amount more.. Then I went to a 16' sluice and got more yet.. Now I don't know your soils you may not have so much flour gold.. But I have learned from experience that if you are after flour gold it takes a lot to catch it..

When it drops 15 F in seconds, in Arizona, that's a bit of a hint.

I just started panning and I was enjoying it Untill...I fell and bruised my tail bone...LOL I found a few micro spec's in the very short time I was panning. I will be going back as soon as I heal a bit. My shoes didn't have much tread....so I ordered a pair of Hip Waders..that should help.
👍right now I am learning more about how to find gold 😌, I am single woman 😃 here in parkland/Tacoma Washington. I've seen you all find lots of good stuff. Including gemstone around the gold, this too takes time. It's all amazing and so really cool to see all you finding that pretty rock of gold. One of the tougher jobs, 🙃 right, is that you can get it 😉 right? You take lots of serious dirt away, just to find that little bit of mother's gold.

Fun but uneventful. Lol getting paydirt along the travel tubing frequently so collecting along the way filling everything I can. Lol

I understand Pauly's frustration with that amount of black sand. I was prospecting along the St. Joe river here in northern Idaho using a 15" supersluice. Starting with the pan about 1" full from the top by the time I got the gravels and blonde sands out I would be left with 2~3 cups of garnet sand and I swear to Pete that stuff is heavier than lead. I'm still recovering from a stroke so it wore me out pretty quick.
Watching a group of friends digging for gold is always a good time to spend. Unfortunately I go prospecting alone and i hope I'll find a good friend that loves digging as i do....

Here is what happens Sir...even after I have subscribed...If I watch one of your videos today and when it is over since I am new to your channel... You Tube loads up 2 or 3 when I comes back to its new page, now here is the tricky part... lets say I do not want to watch a video of your until later or tomorrow... It will after the next video bounce yours to a to different level, say 3,4,5 down the page and maybe just one...This works for a lot channels even if I have subscribed or not and if I decide to wait until tomorrow it moves it down farther or does not bring channel your up again for a few days or even weeks.......It like force to watch when I will but not just this moment...........
1.2 meters is just about 4 ft, so I think I understand why that regulation exists. Down here in the states, in Illinois at least, the legal limit to digging depth is 4 ft without having any shoring walls. They don't want you to get buried alive or knocked on the head by a big rock if the walls collapse. Happens all the time unfortunately...

I don't know about that "water detection" machines, but I have been in the mineral and water detection business for about 30 years now and so far I have tested a lot of machines, only to find they did not work and the money spent went down the drain. My water Dowsing is a hundred% accurate and I do it from a photograph off of Google earth images. Of course I find other things also, like precious-metals, graves, crude-oil. I can scan five to ten square miles from a Google Earth image in about a day and mark the water or mineral locations, large and small. I also discriminate the type of element, for example I can tell any one of the six platinum group metals apart from one another. And I can detect all of the stable elements on the chart of elements. I have done over 300 blind tests to this affect. I am not at all limited on depth detection. I did an oil deposit that was 6800 feet deep. Many of my blind teste were private people giving me permission to scan their houses and marking where their values were.

If it's so hard to pan that black sand I wonder if the sulfides have a very high gold content. Have you ever tried to smelt it with Flux the way mount baker money and metals does? Mbmllc on RU-vid
So just stumbled across your channel and been binging some vids. Got a question for you: when you do these big get togethers and multiple people are helping out/sluicing/panning/etc is it a case of everyone just keeps what they find, or is it all evenly distributed in the end? Pay them in hot pockets? Just curious, seems like you all have a good time so suppose it doesn't have to be about money.

What is it about the black sands here that make them so difficult? Is it Galena? Platinum group? Uranium ore? Or some other heavy metal? Would chemical separation with hydrochloric and nitric acid make separating them easier? Are there any other valuable metals in the tailings?
So someone from the Ministry is out measuring hole depth? Is that a safety requirement or environmental regulation- or both? It’s work, but everyone is having fun.

(6:19) I know u definitely got it fixed by now but I bet u that’s a suction problem on ur pump… my dad had one tinny little thing for our trailer so we could use the sink and bathroom in it. And if u used too long of a hose that wasn’t suction approved it would collapse and make that’s same sound! A couple other factors could be a bad seal or gasket (if it has one) or bad plugs (if it has a mini gas motor on it like my dads)
why would they require 1 meter in elevation? that just means it runs back down likely into the river... and ur pump probably has a dirty filter somewhere.

Just need a little liquid carburetor cleaner to your fuel every couple of months. Nothing beats a Honda!! Legit though im a small engine mechanic and can tell by listening... its a fuel issue, mostly because of the ethanol thats in our fuel these days

With THAT much black sands, all the tapping you'll need to do, you might as well get one of those pistol grip battery operated deep tissue massagers to touch on the end of the pan to shake that gold out!
