SORTEDfood shame you have to pay to be a part now. Even registering for free doesn’t allow us to see this content. This makes me really sad as I cannot afford to due to circumstances way beyond by control.
A worthwhile upload, for a change, from SORTEDfood. Sorted should spend more time on these kinds of food journeys or explorations and less time abusing established recipes in their own test kitchen. It's better use of time spreading useful information than spreading bad ideas.
This video is actually life goals af. Going on a road trip with your friends, staying in a novelty hostel, and eating damn good food is an adventure pretty high up on my personal bucket list.
I am so glad that Plymouth was recognised by you guys. Thank you! It is far away in the south west but it is home! I also think that it is hilarious that you went into Plympton to find the Kingfisher instead of staying on the Barbican
This harks me back to the first ever Sorted video I saw. A mate shared the London’s best Fish and Chips video a few months back. It was the start of a journey that has seen me watch WAY too much RU-vid. Still loving it! Thanks guys for making me want to get back into the kitchen and cook actual food - you guys rock!
Sorted, I just want to say thanks for always releasing the best content that has clearly had a lot of thought and effort put in to it. I have loved you guys for a long time and followed your progress over the years. You're absolutely amazing and make the world's best videos. Thanks :D
Me lol. I just sorta tag along to whatever my mates have in plan for activities (so long as it doesn’t involve anything that’ll make me motion sick), but I am HELLA invested when mealtimes are involved
LOVE the guy scratching his back with the fork. LMAO Now I need to plan my next trip to London and venture out much further. Thanks guys for the great adventure. I think the Bath and Rockfish are definitely on my go-to list.
Loved this!! We LOVE you guys and your glorious personalities so more vlogs with you just eating and talking/travelling is great. Appreciate the time and effort put into these videos and as always Mike is amazing with the camera! [can we appreciate how Barry's eyes perfectly matched the ceiling behind him? AESTHETICZ!] Missed Jamie but keen to see him in the next one :)
You literally just needed to get on a train for 30 minutes, there is a place in Luton called Wigmore fish and chips, they one this award several years ago and are the best!
from were I live (the netherlands) I can literally drive for 2 hours in any direction and be in a different country... or really wet soo yeah then one hour is a reasonable distance.
Watching old videos while I eat my egg sandwich... sat in my lovely home in Plymouth and then OH. Look where they are! I have friends who work at Rockfish so this is cool.
I just finished watching the video in the website in the full road trip and I quickly switched to watch this one !!!! Was amazing guys !!! Please do a lost and hungry in India !!! 😍
ChubbyBu I live in India dear sir and I think the guys will be exposed to a lot of different cultures and amazing food too !!! It will definitely make for great content !!
The north east is really good for fish and chip shops in general. No matter the town or city, even neighbourhood takeaway chippies are wicked, especially in comparison to the south.
I have to say, having driven at least 7 road trips that were over 800 miles each way (usually in a day each way), and been a passenger for at least 8-10 that were 2500 mi each way, it was very entertaining to me hearing you hype it up as a road trip/big journey to go a couple hundred. It was very cute and made me check my biases a bit since not everyone lives in a huge nation.
You have to remember that the roads in the UK are much smaller, not straight and you have to pay far more attention. You are often driving on the edge of a cliff with no barrier or down a road at 60mph thats only 10 ft wide so you have to pull into the hege if anyone is coming toward you. Unless you are on a motorway driving 200 miles in the UK can take all day.
Got really excited when I saw the title of this video cause I go to uni in Plymouth and have seen that chip shop being advertised as uks best but never been in, so now I might give it a try!
You should try the fish 'n' chips in the Highlands, we get only two choices; fish, or special fish. Fish is haddock in batter, but if you're celebrating, you can have the special fish which is haddock in breadcrumbs... I really miss having a decent cod 'n' chips, or rock 'n' chips.
Plymouth!! I live here! Can confirm that Rockfish is amazing, although I'm really surprised you didn't go to The Harbourside Fish and Chips, which is on the nicer side of the harbour and in my opinion even better than Rockfish!
My brother raves about Harbourside, he took me but they were closed due to a kitchen breakdown that day, so after lockdown is over we're there. Coddy Shack near Looe is excellent too and you can take your dog in and they'll do her some sausages too.
Only just seen this but if you want to find something in the north I'd suggest whitby for definite also south sheilds. You also get to visit Newcastle and the food offerings here are damn good too.
I am reminded of a Fish & Chips truck? that stopped in RAF Mildenhall every Wednesday in the late 70s. Think I always ordered two cod and chips. Huge pieces of fish and thick chips. My Master Sergeant said I was taking too long to finish. So good!
You should TOTALLY start a new series of regional ‘worth it’ where you visit the best rated budget, mid-range, and fine-dining eateries in a town or city and see which one you think is best value for money!!
I love the difference in the sense of scale between different countries. I used to drive 400+km per day for work where I live and it's nothing. I wasn't even a long haul driver or anything.
Had a day off sick once, left Birmingham at 06.00 and drove to looe in Cornwall, had fish and chips at Dave dinner, which was amazing, walked around for half hour and drove home, got home at 18.00 was a great great day
BTW:can i just say that u guys are amazing. I started watching u a week ago, and now u are the only thing i watch on you tube, or in fact at all!!! U GUYS ROCK!!!
I grew up in Victoria BC Canada and I always had halibut fish and our take out was always in newspaper. I worked in a fish n chips place by Beacon Hill park and we would get whole halibut and potatoes in 100 lb burlap bags and chipped into large plastic trash cans , we went through bags and bags of potatoes it was crazy busy.
Great episode... you should take this global and give New Zealand a go for their fish and chips! They will cook your fresh catch up for you... just a case of breaking out your fishing rods guys. Some of the best fish and chips I've ever experienced! That would be an awesome episode!
It’s so strange to see you guys in Plymouth! The kingfisher fish and chip place is two minutes drive from my house. It was so funny to see your reaction to the tiny little shop and the local shopping ‘centre’. I went to brownies in the community centre just down from the kingfisher 😂
I need a barry in my life. He's always been my favourite. But now that i know he's impulsive and adventurous (same as i), im more than happy with my choice. Good work Barry👍
Hey guys I know this is pretty old but since I've been watching your channel I always get excited on your videos, I'd like to know if you can make a challenge video for fish and chips a battle between you guys and show us what you got, Thank you!
In the US (where I’m from) I found the best fish & chips I’ve ever had in a very unexpected place. It was at the restaurant inside Mystic Seaport which is a maritime history museum in Mystic, Connecticut. In a way it’s not surprising. It’s the US’s premier maritime museum and it’s in a small seaside town in New England. They probably serve up hundreds if not thousands of servings of fish and chips on an average summer day. But the fish was super fresh and moist inside and the batter on the outside was beautifully golden and crispy. The chips were appropriately girthy, not American french fries. And they weren’t too soggy or overdone. And to top it off it came with what was clearly house-made tartar sauce. I wasn’t expecting such an amazing experience from a cafe in a museum but it’s become the standard I will judge all fish and chips to and was at least as good if not better than fish and chips I’ve had in Scotland.
Absolutely loved the video. I wanted to say 2 things: No. 1 wtf is the old man at the back doiiiing 😱😱😱 No. 2 I think it makes sense to have a take out store as it is the best store as it would be the best way to keep the business moving would be to have takeout because people may be put off by the idea that they have to wait in line so having a quick stop type of restaurant will be much more efficient... right?
I live in Blyth Northumberland and Coastlines is a fish and chip restaurant that is amazing. It’s situated right on the seafront. They also do take out.
