moved to scotland in the lates 80's as a child while my dad worked out on the missile silos for the sub bases on the lochs off the clyde....Would never take me to a Derby county game, my home team, or a rangers/celitic game cos of the trouble there. We settled on st mirren and had a far few hairy moments v morton (inc the win on the cup run in 87). One incident i will never forget though, probably late 80's ( i was young so memeory is hazy) we had got a ferry from kilcreggan to gourock and then the train into paisley for a home game. Passing though greencok on route, seeing as they were away to motherwell then is was no issue. needless to say, while wearing my st mirren coat and scarf, I was rather terrified when moton fans piled on the train. Unable to hide my colours, being english as well!!, my dad chatted away about how hell they were gonna make the kick off and football in general. For all the rivalry they were just a bunch of other people off to a game of football

Probably is Scotland's most underrated derby. Fair hike between the towns but they really don't like each other. I'd put it ahead of Pars v. Bairns and certainly ahead of Pars v. Raith. I've never been to a Motherwell v. Airdrie game though.
