I recently found these Rii keyboards on Amazon and have tried a few out. My current favorite is thier ‘Rii RK707 3 in 1’. It’s a keyboard on one side and a game controller on the other. And while it doesn’t look like it from the photos, the top triggers are indeed analog! The only thing I initially didn’t like about it was the lack of dedicated volume up/down buttons. But I ended up creating an autohotkey script so that I just hold down the ‘Win’ button and then use the left/right arrows to adjust volume.
Everything said in this video was exactly what I think and have experienced with my Rii wireless mini keyboard and mouse. The only thing I'd add is... The plastic on the back of the keyboard is SuPeR SLIPPERY!!!! It doesn't seem to matter if my hands are moist or dry... the keyboard is just really SLIPPERY. As stated in the video... the build quality isn't something to write home about. So it being SLIPPERY is an issue because I don't believe it will survive being dropped more than two-three times. A light sanding of the back panel will make it a thousand times less SLIPPERY... Grip tape works extremely well... another option is to rubberize the back panel or texture it with the stuff that you get from a big box store in a can. I've had no other problems with it at all, and its size and functionality are perfect for my application. I use it to control a mini computer that's connected to an ultra short throw projector. Great video! Thanks for all the wonderful information.
Haven't tried this one yet, but I love rii's i8+ . Whats great about that one is it's left and right click buttons are on the left side so I can mouse with my right thumb and left/right click with my left without any awkwardness. The scroll wheel on this looks convenient, but holding ctrl+mousing up or down works fine for scrolling lol. Can also just use the page up or down buttons on the i8 for fast scrolling comments or w.e
@@BuzStringer Mainly just for when I'm watching movies in bed, means I can use my computer and shut it down without getting up. So just using it to be lazy 😂
I've been using a Rii Mini X1 for about 6 years and I'm really quite happy with it. I was a bit skeptical at first given the low price and relatively unknown manufacturer, but it's holding up surprisingly well.
HEX_TAngent is also a big fan of Rick n Morty. Nice. Great review, my man - I think I’m nabbing this and the Fossman. Between the two, I should be back to texting and driving in no time. I just never got used to typing on glass. Thanks again!! Cherry MX switches are SO CLEAN! I first heard about them from Richard Heart - OG Cherry PBTs baby!
Love it! Was just thinking how I need to grab something like this for my PS5/TV/etc. Trying to chat in game with the controller is just a no-no for me, as is the awkwardness of using a full size keyboard. This would sit alongside my racing cockpit perfectly. Thank you for bringing this to my attention ;)
No Worries, nobody wants a full size KB/M on the couch (or cockpit) completely forgot this would be excellent for consoles if you don't want the the controller attachment, Which i have always found clunky. It works natively for PS5 and Android TV not sure about Xbox but i'm sure it would work fine.
How does it compare to Rii i4 Mini? In terms of range, responsiveness, etc? I have Rii X8 and wondering about upgrading as it tends to loose connection
I don't know, backlight is very low and there is no way to increase it, plastic stink, and roller is not so useful compared to two fingers movement, and also there is not left/righy mouse buttons on left side like Rii 8+. Not sure if i picture myself satisfied.
This is a updated version of the very similar older Rii i8+ which I have for my Nvidia shield. Are there any truly wireless Bluetooth keyboards with this size and form factor? I would love to update to something like this but I don't want to use a USB port to plug in the required dongle to receive the signal and the one I currently have looks horrible because I used to use it quite a lot back in the day when I was using Kodi..... As you can imagine most of the rubberized texture is completely worn off and then why the keys look white, gross, and ugly now..... Or at least the directional pad for navigation does because I used it so much typing in URLs for add-ons that it didn't even last a year. It still works perfectly but it looks horrible because all that rubberized texture got worn off so fast. You have any recommendations for a truly wireless keyboard that has the same basic design and layout this one does because I would love a tiny hand-sized keyboard instead of a giant full-sized. Things like this are perfect for a device like the Nvidia shield where you just occasionally need a keyboard for something specific. I'm having trouble finding a truly wireless keyboard that matches this design..... I use my earbuds frequently completely wireless with the shield and I don't understand why there isn't a good keyboard that's similar to this which is absolutely truly wireless with Bluetooth connectivity seeing as how my controllers and earbuds work one-hundred-percent well and completely wire free with no USB ports needed. Any good recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Good video. Keep up the good work.
