I bought the Refina finatxt 14” and 16” because I was wanting a change from Marshall town. Have to be honest they where shocking trowels. I’m trying ox now bought the 14 inch stainless doing a bit of render just now and its working a treat

What was wrong with the finatex in your opinion? I’ve had a couple and got to admit the handles aren’t as comfortable as a mt but thought the steel on the refina trowel was very good quality and generally very well built overall. Just the handle wasn’t as good.

They felt uncomfortable to hold. I bought them just to throw hardwall on they wernt for finishing. Both of them snapped. They can’t take the same punishment as mt in my opinion. I’ve got a nela black edition ready to try also but I’m liking the ox early days rite enough

I had the 14 inch laying on trowel a couple of years ago, maybe was called a finatex, can’t remember, and I couldn’t stand it. I actually drove to screwfix and bought a mt while I was waiting for the first coat to set as it was that bad and I ended up giving it away. The super flex was nice to use and I use the plaziflex still, but yeah not a fan of their trowels in general

I agree, if you are going down the side of an architrave the nut will scrape the adjoining wall...

Thankfully architrave is ideally about 20mm thick, so the handle sails over it. 💪

@@AlexMorleyPlastering you are missing the point buddy, the architrave isnt the issue, its the adjourning 90 degree wall.. the trowel blade fits in the gap but the handle stops the blade(heel) from doing so unless you use it upside down. When buying widget trowel the 1st thing i look for is that the handle doesn't protrude past the blade...

Nelas midgets handle is pushed back... it sits past the back of the blade and its an arsehole if ur doing a thin cupboard and pulling the tops in it hits the wall!
