Quick question pal...wheh you stuck those boards to the wall...i could see tiny gap at the top against the cieling ...is that normal and do i not need to fill it ?
How heavy are the bags of cement? What is the volume of the black buckets? I use 18litre buckets and 20kg bags. For scratch coat I do 2.5 buckets to a 20kg bag and about 1 litre bucket of hydrated lime per bucket of sand. For my top coat I use 2 buckets of sand per 20kg bag of cement and 2 scoops if Synlime (synthetic lime). I was always told to go richer in cement for each successive coat. I am in Canada and use this for parging, which is like a render on a wire mesh over foam for the basement portion of the house. What is your opinion on my mix? Thanks for the video I really enjoyed it!
Good work. The site boys get bent out of shape because they have to plaster a whole room for the same money you've earn't in one wall.... Plus its nice to see a plasterer who i'd trust in my own house ..
Old school days a lot harder than today I can still go faster than all the young boys and I'm 58 and still going strong the new tools do help now its easier than in the 80s
Why has Multi Finish got a green square label on it saying new fastset plaster, its a pain in the arse it goes in super quick, I put a wall on the other day it was setting in the bucket after 25 minutes, went to B and Q to see if I could get multi finish with out that fastset green label on it and there was none all of them even board finish has that label on it. When I went online it seems its £9.60 a 25 kg bag for Thistle Multi Finish with the green label Fastset plaster on it, but if you want the stuff with out the label on its £15 a bag. I have a theory as it used to be £4.60 a bag and then when the cost of living happened it went up to £14.50 a bag. So I think no plasterers have been buying it cause of the price and doing other work like renders instead, and then shops like b and q have sent it back to Thistle cause they couldnt sell it. Thistle have then took this out of date plaster and bashed it with some other plaster rebagged it with a Green label branding it as some new fastset plaster when in reality its just old recalled plaster stores couldnt sell that Thistle have rebagged and sold back to them stores slightly cheaper and thats why it goes in so fast, theres one website selling the stuff with the green label and all the photos plasters have sent in its all gouged on every photo no ones got a nice flat finish with it. I remember old thistle multi finish you would get about a hour before its started turning into clay in the bucket this new stuffs going like that after 20 minutes.
Thats the worst finish ive seen you produce, what happened there butty because your a really good plastere, heat catch you out different way of finishing ?? As allways good video alex All the best Liam plastere South wales
I enjoyed the video, many thanks - could you elaborate on your last tip (know your limits) where you mention tapping and feathering - I assume you mean splitting the job in two? A video on doing this would be helpful - keep up the good work
You're about 15yrs old Alex, of course it's going to be the best plastering bag in the world to you when all us old timers know that the old canvas army and navy stores plasterers bag is the best!!!😆😆😆😆
I have a question please... I used a scud coat at 2 to 1 and waterproof/ plastersizer And scratch coat 3 to 1 and waterproof and plasterzizer And now the suction on the scratch coat is drying too fast... Am going to put another layer of scratch over it as we are using Webber white to finish..... Just wondering could we put waterproof and pollybond in the next scratch coat .The mix will be 4to 1...... Need help please
Should the scratch coat not cover the beads? The beads are pins the window seem only covered by the top coat. You can tell I’m a novice judging by my most probably stupid question. 😅
