Danny you mean a lot to a lot of people. Some of us are going through tough times and it’s nice to hear your steady voice and eating a good take away meal. Just wanted to thank you for the content.
Hopefully after shaking strangers hands and eating with your hand you don't get any covid .pity people coukd not let you make your video first and then maybe shake your hand .
I envy Danny so much how he is so calm and composed around people. As crowded as that place was, my social anxiety and stress would be through the roof. I wish I had his talents.
At a surface level, this is just a bloke going around around trying food in different parts of the UK. At a deeper level, Danny really brings out the best of people in the UK. Really refreshing to see the "real" UK and not what MSM wants us to believe it is. It might be old fashioned but holding eye contact and shaking someone's hand, matters to me. Great to see people just being nice human beings to each other. Perfect channel to serve as a reminder for how being nice to each other is far better than being dicks. Appreciate the work-rate, Danny!
@@WasiuAlatise Man you sound super racist. I live in London, it's got so many different cultures, I hear loads of English and loads of other languages. How is that a bad thing?
Danny you have the patience of a saint. Not many people on RU-vid who would say yes to every photo and every person. But your kindness doesn’t go un-noticed and this is why you’re loved so much mate!
Doing seaside resorts like this will bring in so many subscribers. Been subscribed since he was at 500 it's crazy how fast this channel has grown. Brilliant
Agreed. I Don’t understand the people that visit these seaside towns and all they eat is McDonald’s, KFC, you’ve got that on your own doorstep, so go and support the locals.
RateMyTakeaway has been my go to channel for a couple years now. No matter how you are feeling, Danny will make sure you finish the video smiling. What an absolute gem of a man.
"Undred and what..." cracked me up, totally Danny - and followed it up later with requiring a defib if he had been up there. Comedy gold. Although nice to the see the weather in Whitby playing a part. Personally the Magpie is one of my back up chippies - as I tend to try and get mine at Silver Street, I was sent there once by a local, and have never looked back, even the changes of owners down the years has stopped it producing quality fish and chips. And the old guy in the carpark pointed out one of my other go to's, before the Magpie. So good to see someone with local knowledge pointing you in the right direction.
Not the cheapest fish and chips but Magpies is famous and deservedly so. Lovely classic beef dripping fry, and plenty of local support. I did think this was going to be a solid 10 as soon as I heard the name. I would say that there tends to be a premium price on stuff in Whitby, as they have a bit of extra tourist cache, what with the vampire / goth stuff going on. Nice to see this old town again. Nice one Danny! ⭐👍
@maruiacancerc oh dear. What coffin date did the doctors give you? If I don't see you chatting again, then please rest well. Ovarian cancer is a very, very slow, painful death. You think you are alright and getting better after 5 years then boom it rips you apart in the last year. I send my saddened condolences to you.
I need to thank you. Two years ago I underwent four back surgeries in two months. I was sure I would never walk let alone enjoy anything. I will never get to try the places you go. Sometimes I get frustrated by your choices of sides but I am always entertained by the locations. You really have helped my mood and maybe helped inspire me to get my butt back to work even if I am fast wearing out. Thanks again...
I love how Danny doesn't let the weather slow him down, British Sunshine ....lol Now if comes down hard enough you have done shows in the van, your Dad was awesome one ! Can see in the near future where you might need to do all your reviews in the van so your not just doing a meet & greet
How can you not like this guy. Dannys a brilliant lad, he’s had his share of heartache yet he’s the most positive human being you could ever come across. Out of all the RU-vid food reviewers Danny was the first I came across & followed. He’s the only one I’ve continued to follow. Credit Danny for your good positivity, your a pleasure to watch for many many of us 👍
I am really liking the dressing arrangements around there, it’s cloudy and raining and either people don’t care about the rain and wear a t shirt and shorts, or they’re all in full rain gear….. proper west coast type dressing arrangements here in Canada, I know a few Brits who tell me that my local town and all over on the west coast on the big island that I live, lots of areas around England are the same weather, England has more rainy weather but not by much, except our summer is gorgeous, for a month or so
When my wife was a girl in 70s. She would go for fish and chips for her family , take a bowl and ask for ' pea soup' The pea soup was just the water from the peas that they gave you for free. You could also get fish bits for free in an old newspaper . Happy days .
The reality is that Whitby is FULL of fish+chip shops (and The Magpie is certainly in the Premier League) so if your fish-chips aren't top drawer you would go out of business very quickly.
I went to Whitby during Whit week and went to both Magpie Cafe and Trenchers. My opinion of the best was The Magpie. There was also a lovely little eaterie called The Rusty Shears, which was fabulous. Highly recommended for breakfast or brunch. It closes at 2.30 and is closed some days so best to check.
I could imagine Danny on one of those Saturday Morning variety cooking shows doing his takeaway reviews. The guy is money. He connects with every demographic.
Hi, I am from Leeds and moved to Thailand 11 years ago and now settled with my Thai wife for 10 years. I watch your programmes and see how England is changing. We have a Thai lady friend who has moved to England with her English husband and 2 small boys, they now live in Grimsby. They are going to visit Whitby and I am going to link this program for them to buy good quality fish and chips. I used to go to Whitby fishing of the pier and the fish and chips I bought were snide.
You are too good to your fans, I felt so bad when you had barely taken a bite and you were visited. All while the rain was on. I would have been a cranky old man having anyone interrupt that perfect meal!
Awesome dude, told ya they were top notch 👌🏼 Glad to see u gave them a solid 10 😁 Was great to meet u, top bloke 👍🏻 I ended up being in your episode about 3 times 🤣 Keep doing wot your doing big man 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Well I'm a new sub' to your channel. Love it 😂Thx to @MacMaster for the heads up. You're a true gent for taking all the photo's with folk and right laugh. Enjoyed this as we'll be up Whitby later int year so looking forward to some more "Magpie Magpie" ourselves 😆Brilliant. Cheers Danny & camera person, ha 👍🏻
You are just truly awesome Danny👊loving watching your videos. Your a great reviewer, a kind , caring polite bubbly person in yourself and towards everybody. Massive loves and to yourself and 100000x % the camera man and all the editing and hard work you both doo:) keep it up the both of yaa .. never change 🥰💚xx
Those magic words at 19:40 - "traditionally fried in beef dripping". And the best thing is that I love fish and chips and I'll be back in Whitby next month for the first time in many years. I can already anticipate my taste buds exploding. Not quite sure which chippies we'll be visiting yet, but your Whitby reviews are perfectly timed to help us decide!
I was hopping that it was going to be a Yorkshire Fishcake not keen on the parsley ones but the Fish and Chips look amazing. From a Dewsbury lass living in Canada.
@@lewissparkes i've never had a good one down there either! I don't know what it is but they try too hard to "posh it up" or something instead of keeping it simple
All of that meal, everything should be available on prescription. Amazing! Never been to Whitby, they live up to their reputation because that fish looked perfect. Cannot wait to see who you are reviewing next - this place looks like the very, very best. Brilliant vlog Danny.
A lot of English and Irish food is very similar with little differences. For example, we wouldn't really do mushy peas with fish and chips here in Ireland. But I think mushy peas makes a great addition.
I regularly went to Whitby with my friend and her young niece years ago . On this occasion we called into the magpie and then took our lunches and went to sit down to eat them taking in the beautiful view of the harbour. Seagulls were swooping down trying to steal the food as we opened the cardboard boxes the fish and chips came in! But just as my friend opened the box containing her fish and chips a seagull flew above and pooped in her lunch. We were no good, we were literally crying with laughter at the seagulls perfect timing
I noticed that too. He would be a great old school Saturday evening light entertainment show host. He connects with so many different types of people. He is like a modern Bruce Forsythe or Bob Monkhouse
I visited my family in Wales for the first time in 3 years after moving to the US but took the time to take my wife up to Whitby where I had proposed to her near the Abbey for a gothic backdrop years prior. The Magpie's by far one of the best places to eat there, the haloumi fries being especially good. The place is like a maze, I didn't realize how many floors it had. A great place to get breakfast though is the Monk's Haven cafe on the other side.
Went Whitby and Bridlington in 2007 for a holiday and ate at Magpie in Restaurant, was bang on then, fresh and probably a lot cheaper haha on the left where danny is sitting was where all the fishing boats docked
You have a patience thats so admirable Danny.. just shows you truly love what you are doing.. I wonder what the other one is going to be.. My niece owns one in whitby (hetty and betty)_ will eagerly look out for your next video
Went to that fish and chippery about thirty years ago because of its claim to fame. Got there early in order to avoid the rush, or so I thought. The queue was halfway down the street before it had even opened! As my wife and I were starving hungry, we went elsewhere. I see from your order, it is as good now as it ever was. Pity I missed out.
I used to live with a person who's mam & dad had a couple of chippies. Was advised if you can smell the oil don't go in & if there is a queue, get in it & stay in it - even if your not hungry - queue, 'cos by the time you get to the front smelling the fish & chips you'll be starving. Cheers fella, hope you don't mind me commenting.
