Daging salai is smoked beef while tempe is fermented soybean. Lubuk means a deep place .It can also means the centre of everything where everyone gather around.Hope this helps..
Lubuk is a body of water smaller than a tasik(lake) ; normally formed by a river flowing near flat land into a bow like structure, after which the bow was cut off. The nearest English word is ox-bow lake. Normally a lubuk is favourite fishing place for village folk, because it is the place fishes congregate and trapped there after a flood subsides. Hence figuratively a lubuk can also mean congregation place where people go and get trapped because of good food. A lubuk does not mean deep place. It is it’s character, because the water in lubuk normally is very deep. A lot of village chidren in the past were drowned while fishing and swimming in them. There was not many swimming pool back then; we swam in rivers and lubuk.
Watching all the way from Suriname (a little country in South America). I would say the food costs maybe like 8$-10$ or so. Our country is almost like Malaysia a multicultural country. Our people ancestors are from Africa, Indonesia, India, China. My ancestors are from Indonesia so here we also watch malay tv series.
Not From Indonesia (Indonesia Just Exists 1940 something , But Your Ancestor Come From Malay World (Including Malaysia , Indonesia , Brunei , Singapore , South Thailand , South Myanmar and Many Place More) . Search For Malay World/Alam Melayu .
Thanks for sharing. I just got back to Melbourne from our trip to MY since 14th July. When we arrived at Melbourne airport and found how cold it was, we wanted to turn back and hop onto the plane to return to Malaysia!!! Introduced my wife to Nasi Kandar and with help from our friends we travelled with, introduced her to cempedak. I so want to go back!!!!
0:56 Lubuk = deepest part e.g. lubuk hati, lubuk sungai. Contoh banyak ikan tertumpu di lubuk sungai. 2:40 Excotic BM do not use letter X. Ejaan in BM selalunya "Eksotik". Must have ulam and sambal belacan to become traditional. Love the drama at the end... 😍
Nice Malaysian food. Nice cute baby ky ky. Loved the way he was showing his affection to his Mama at the end. Cute baby and well trained and well behaved. Nice video. Continue to enjoy Malaysia. And food tour. Many thanks for the video.
Hi kumar family, just correcting information. ..salai referred to.smoked hence thats why Rachel said she can taste smokey taste on the daging salai...cos the meat is smoked for hours then they cut them up in cooked in the lemak (coconut) gravy. I discovered about the term salai watching a video on youtube food video on the guy that he specialised in making daging and chicken salai. He smoked the meat i.e goat or leg of lamb and chicken in a big smoke machine using a specific type of wood and usually it took about 12 hrs to smoke the meat and 8hrs for chicken. Try google daging salai, you will understand what I meant, Sally from NZ (originally is Singaporean)
@@norsyafinazsamsudin1961 if he's western, I don't think he would be that hyped to go to Malaysia to taste foods that are readily available in his home country. There are also arab and Chinese foods in the west especially US due to it's diversity. However malay foods are tough to get in the western world. As it's not really popular unlike Indian, Chinese, Arab foods
Hai, Kumar dan Rachel. Saya sangat kagum dgn cara Rachel mkn sambil menjaga anak semasa mkn. Dia seorg ibu yg penyabar. Kumar, saya juga suka masak lemak daging salai. Enak sekali kan.

Im almost 70(still young ok!)being following urvlogs n loving it but 1st time commenting! Daging salai is smoked meat.salai means smoked.all the best n god bless
This is Malaysian negeri 9 style food.. everything looks spicy... I guess the price for shrimp, daging salai, 2x ayam kampung, butter chicken, tempe, terung, telur dadar and everything around RM100
Gulai Daging Salai (not barbeque beef, but it's smoked beef) is a Negeri Sembilan signature dish. If you travel towards Kuala Pilah, you'll find stalls by the roadside selling smoked beef, smoked chicken and smoked duck. And there's a few restaurants too that sells such dishes.
Lubuk in our traditional kampung use is the deeper part of a water body where all the marvelous fish 'hide' (gathered). So this kedai makan is where all the good food can be found.
I blame America too, for my addiction to sweets. Unlike Europe where they emphasize more on quality, American also emphasize on quantity. I am desperately trying to stick to vegan and sugar free diet now.
Lubuk means hotspot/hub so its a bench hub or lepak hub. The whole meal for 3 persons i counted RM40(USD9) exactly without the drinks. Is it correct? The drinks probably add another RM10. Daging salai is a famous Malay delicacy.
Daging salai is a smoke beef i think. I am also unsure how they call it. I am soo envious of you. Been living abroad 9 years now and have not the chance to return yet. You're killing me😅😅
My favourite dishes from lubuk are the daging salai and udang sambal petai. In my opinion Lubuk Bangku is one of the best places for Malay/minang food in KL so great choice! My guess of the total is rm68 😄
Since you guys here in Malaysia, you guys should travel to south like Melaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan or north like Ipoh, Pulau Pinang. Klang town has a lot of kampung style food and delicious too
lubuk means somekind of gathering spot for example if you go memancing there's a spot people called it lubuk ikan..haa mcm tu lah lebih kurangnye lah...btw the price for the whole meal plus refreshment i guess around 50 ringgit..
Kumar family (American family), Light Km (French family) & The Luebkes (Deutscher family) serentak balik Malaysia...... korang pakat ke?.... buat lah gathering all three families....
Olala... Looking at the food, making me hungry. Got to try Lubuk Bangku next time. Thank you for sharing. Happy to see everyone enjoying the food and time here. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I don’t know the real meaning of lubuk, but usually ppl use lubuk to mean where something is in abundance. Ppl who likes fishing, they use the word to mean a spot where a lot of fish are.
If u want to try authentic daging salai then u should try at Gerobok Salai in Rembau Negeri Sembilan. But be ready as it is really "pedas" but delicious
Hi Kumar..you can trai Pantai timur dish like Nasi Kerabu Nasi dagang Laksam Or variation of laksa like Laksa johor Laksa serawak Laksa Penang/kedah Laksam Nyonya laksa
alang2 serve dgn dulang.. the kedai should make wakafs or pangkin so that bole makan bersila.. baru kena dgn tema kemelayuan.. also not forgeting teko basuh tangan (lupa la plak nama dia..)..
Alamak, I went to this place twice but could not savour their menu as they were closed or either full house. When told about good food, I shall make time and try again. Glad to are able to enjoy the food.
Oh my gosh, I thoroughly enjoy this video so much!!! XD Such a sweet moment when you suprised your mum and dad :'D. If it's not too much, can you list the song that you used in the video? Really love the song playing at 8:02 :D
Hi kumar n family. Nice to see ur vlogs again 🤗🤩. Yummy food 😋 😊. I will surely try 😋. Charges I think between RM60- 70. Try banana leaf rice set in Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju in bangsar, Yummy food 😋 too.
Before you go back to US, you can buy packet daging salai kak ngah.. you can buy on online instagram.. they together with the cili.. bring to US.. you just need to add on lemongrass and coconut milk.. to cook.. simple.. but dont put the cili the whole packet it will be too hot to handle..
Bro. Try pergi D'Rebung@Banghuris near Bagan Lalang. The area is seriously beautiful, dotted all around with dragon fruit farms. They serve nasi ambang served traditional style in a dulang. Your kids will like the place, and it's not that far from the beaches.
Try out Nasi lemak wanjo kampung baru Nasi kandar mohd yaseen chowkit (very nice spicy chicken) Sup salim sentul front chinese school Pavilion bukit bintang level g foodcourt alot of various food widely over there
you can actually buy ready made smoked beef to cook the masak lemak .. it's a bit hassle to do smoke beef (daging salai) on yr own 😅.. tempe is always superb .. you should try Nasi Ambeng ...i bet you never come across it yet 🤗
You should try Itik Salai Mastar in Kajang. They are famous for their smoked duck curry. Mark Weins did a video of it. We went there in 2019 right before the pandemic. It was my wife’s favorite food in Malaysia.
Hi Kumar & Rachel, if you love Malaysian food, please pay a visit to REBUNG restaurant , near Masjid Bukit Aman and Taman Tasik Perdana . The owner of this restaurant is Malaysia known Dato’ chef Ismail. You can experience various Malaysian food.
My birthplace Bentong Pahang, serves the best lemang. Served with chicken or beef. Try both if you can. Avoid weekends. Super packed with people. Lemang Toki is at Batu 2, Jalan Tras, 28700 Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia.. There is another branch near Ketari but not as good. On the way there , there is a hot spring too. Can go for a dip. Chamang waterfall is near Lemang Toki.
My first investment with Mrs sofia gave me profit of over $24,000 Us dollars and ever since then she has never failed to deliver and I can even say she's the most sincere broker I have known.
Kumar if you happen to want to try simple but yummy Indian food then check out SunRaj at jalan Gasing Pj plus it’s a open air concept good especially for the pandemic time. I suggest that you be there at 12 afternoon if you decide to do lunch. Try out their mutton curry !
COMEI BETUL BUDAK2 TU.....VERY LOVELY FAMILY. TRY restoran-ayam-kampung tugu cafe. Nasi lemak tanglin. Ikan bakar bellamy, Aroma ikan bakar jeram kuala selangor. Nasi kandar lawood cempaka, nilai 3
Hi Logesh, you should try Kak Nik’s Patin House in Pantai Dalam, KL. Kampung cuisine with variety of river fish I.e. Ikan baung, Ikan Kerai, Patin etc. Ikan Patin masak tempoyak is crowd favourite. Udang galah masak Lemak also available there. Variety of sambals like sambal Belacan, sambal tempoyak, sambal budu, eat with ulam raja, pegaga, timun etc.
In this context, lubuk is best described as a spot while bangku stands for seats. In the early days of Lubuk Bangku, they operate across the street of where they are now, in a makeshift shipping container with plenty of open air tables and seats.
Hi I am your fan, and support you and lovely your family. I am happy to see you recommend Malaysia foods to the world. Just a suggestion, have you consider next time recommend some of the best Chinese food as well like Bak Kut Teh, Laksa, Dim Sun, Chicken Rice, Wantan mee, Yong Tau Foo.... and many more. BTW, your baby really really very cute!!!
Kumaar, try check out IChangRM YT channel for more traditional Malay food from East Coast states. It's the most delicious 😋 BIG TIME🇲🇾💞 btw I think the whole of ur meal cost around 15$? equivalent to MYR60 roughly am I right?🥶
Depends on the context. In this case, it's 'port'. Translate it to English, literally it means Stool Port. Malaysians these days will 'lepak' either at Mamak or interesting hipster ports...
lubuk bangku, among the best in centre KL.. next time may try stall near Bank Negara and stall opposite of national monument. Maybe not famous for tourists, but overwhelmed by locals during weekdays. So better go there a bit earlier before lunch hour.. 😋😋
HI Logesh & Rachel & Family Just caught up with your video I am really happy to hear that you went back to KL again. Your Mum was so happy to see you all again how long ago were you there. and how long are you staying in Malaysia. It must be so nice to have proper authentic Malaysian food now. You seem to have found a lovely Condominium in Bangsar so you seem to have good views what floor are you on. so what did you think of that Lubuk Bangku place that you all went to as you said you tried different foods that you have not eaten before. well I would say that the amount you paid was about RM 70 . So did you hear that the Reds were in Bangkok and Singapore the other week on there pre season tour. Well it is midnight hear and for you it is about 7.00 am so you will be going later for a local breakfast of Nasi Lemak or Roti Canai and Teh Tarik. Have a great day.YNWA
It sure is the best. I don't eat meat but Lubuk Bangku is my weekly lunch joint. Org negori pi ni. I also get my office snack staples from that artisanal shop you were at. The chocolate chip peanut butter is the jam!
Daging salai masak lemak is a traditional N9 food. Perhaps you could come to Kuantan, there are plenty of east coast style cuisine. Try Jaman Tori in Kuantan.
Hi Kumar Family - why dont you try Aunty Aini's cooking in Nilai? Definitely Malay food..Chef Gordon Ramsey went to her to learn how to make Rendang ayam.. Anthony Bourdain was there.... the food is marvelous there.. my family's favourite restaurant kalau nak makan masakan tradsitonal melayu ..
For this kind of malay food. Please try out anis putri at pantai dalam. Kak nik patin house at pantai dalam. Ana patin house at mutiara damansara. Also cili kampung hartamas!
Hye Kumaar's family. I guess your total bill around or more than RM 80++ ... Lubuk Bangku might pricey but the food all soo SEDAP! Been there many time nearby my office. Its only open Weekdays.
Mantap lah abang kumar, balik usa nanti cuba smoke some beef ke, chicken ke, kalau power lagi smoke itik kat belakang rumah, lepas tu try cook some masak lemak. Kita tengok jadi apa 🤔🤭
