Had one as a company car, utterly faultless car to drive, so much space and very comfortable. Used to see 60mpg on a run and never below 44mpg combined. Does everything you need it to do without shouting about it. Great cars

Just sold one, 2014 Skoda Superb L&K 2.0 TDi 170bhp (remapped to 210bhp) with 172k miles and massively regret the decision to part with it. I was worried that a clutch, dual mass flywheel, injectors or turbo will start packing up soon with that sort of mileage although there were no signs of it whatsoever. Had it from new and apart from servicing items nothing ever gone wrong with it. The sheer space front and back, travel comfort and top spec just made it a dream to drive and own it. I honesty can’t find another make that would even begin to compete with the Superb in every category for the same amount of money. I’ve already started to look for the same make and model with lower mileage. Matt is absolutely right. If you look after them properly, they’ll look after you.

Honestly good decision. You've had zero problems and those newer VAG cars don't hold up that well past 150k miles. Turbo isn't the problem, the high pressure fuel pump is. At this mileage either it or an injector kills the engine. Good choice

Great little video. The short answer to your question, having owned an Mk2 estate is Hell Yes! Built like a Tank, more rear legroom hatch space than you can shake a stick at, and supremely reliable - Just watch out out for saggy rear suspension/ broken rear springs (fairly common on Skoda estates), and get either the Elegance or Laurin & Klement model with xenons, heated leathers & full set of toys 🙂.

I currently 4 cars one of which is a Skoda Kodiak 150 bhp diesel , it's mid range in the line up and I have to say I really , really like it for many reasons including the , build quality , the driving pleasure , the sensible controls especially for the radio interface and the heating/ air con , the ENORMOUS space back seat space for legs and knees is fantastic and the boot is capacious . I sum up this car by telling friends that the Skoda Kodiak is a car that is "more than the sum of it's parts " it just has something about it that exceeds the pricetag , the market segment , the expected ownership experience , if all Skodas are like this I'm not surprised at your review long , long , long gone are the Skoda jokes of old and anyone that continues to perpetuate that outdated image for this brand is ignorant and uninformed . Keep up the great work love the channel ! .

I have an Octavia 4x4 2.0 estate. I've had it five years next week. It hasn't been fault free, but I still rate it. I did 800 miles in it last week and it averaged 53mpg. Most people can afford to get a half decent Skoda and also afford to look after it. Neglect kills high end cars as people can't afford to maintain them after the first two owners.

Problem with the all road is it didn't get the decent 3.0L diesel engine, or the reliable box. Air suspension from the A8 series compounded matters as whilst it was a nice idea, it just added to the expense of things that could go wrong (and did). Add in the highest tax bracket at 500 a year and its a bit pants.

For an English speaking person it is hard to get over that single s in that Skoda name. But then you quickly went back to the old habit (back to skoda and not shkoda). Never the less your videos are not only down to the ground more realistic personal opinion reviews but also full of sarcasm and humor which makes them fun to watch yet sometimes very informative. While others are bogged in the car specs which you can find them on manufacturers sites (or you can go to the dealership in person if you are so specific), you get to the point and tell us what impressed you and what not. Personal impression is more valuable than information on how many inches or mm of ground clearance it has or how many USB ports are in the back row. So keep making your videos and I will keep watching them.

Roomy, reliable, good to drive and economical. 1st time I took it on the motorway I wasn't really paying attention to how fast I was going as it was all very quiet and relaxed, then I looked at the speedo... 110mph. Had to watch it from then on as it was so easy to lose a bit of concentration and lose your license.

The best superb is the 2nd gen but the facelifted version they are pretty rare cause the 3rd gen was introduced shortly after. The build quality is far better compared to the 3rd gen it was the time when VW started to be disgustingly jealous and forced skoda to hold their horses. They have pushed the possibilities of the VW platform way too far so the VW couldn't catch up. The simply clever options and the countless minor comfort features made VW models prices unreasonable. I'm from ex Czechoslovakia we were always limited by someone russians, germans, USA... skodas were crap because they were not allowed to be good remember the first TATRA cars? first aerodynamic design etc... First skoda car the model A was introduced in 1905. 116 years ago and boy they were high end cars until political situations changed everything. anyways skodas are very expensive nowadays the VW trick is the following. If you want a base car it's a hella deal but once you start adding comfort features, you rather visit a merc or bmw dealership you would be surprised what a car you can get for your money. A SUPERB or OCTAVIA for over 40K €??? no way man

The rear legroom on those superbs I believe is more than the A6 and almost as much as the A8. Fantastic build quality and they handle well too

I think 5.3 seconds is a bit too optimistic. It is around 6 seconds, but with a cheap remapping you could get it to 310-330 bhp and also with a higher torque numbers. Than you can get closer 5.0 seconds to 6 mph :)

Very underrated today. Many don't realise Skoda are one of the oldest car companies around. Their first car appeared in ( think) 1896...... And back in the 20's and 30's, Skoda were seen as a fairly prestige brand, like BMW or Mercedes is today...

On the back of your videos Matt, I've recently bought a Superb, it's a 2014 estate with the facelift. I absolutely love it, I was looking at a Civic Tourer but they're weren't many around in my budget. So it's something I didn't have in mind, so thank you for your videos that helped me a great deal. @@sports872 developed a fault with the wiring to the boost sensor that caused it to go into limp mode, so auto electrician repair £180 to find it. Apart from that just wear and tear it’s done 167k when I bought it. Had the suspension arm changed after MOT advisory, and one of the heat shields failed that’s behind the brake disc on one of the rears, silly VW design! Got that done too so £350 for full service and those repairs. I do like the car despite this though but have to put up with these age related repairs 🤷‍♂️ just have to have money set aside for these kind of things.

Thanks for the video. I was searching for one recently and couldn't find one without intergallactic mileage and a distinct lack of service history so in the end I opted for a cheap insignia diesel instead...obviously it's not as refined or quiet but it was cheap and parts are dirt cheap too. Time will tell if that was a bad decision or not....

I recently bought a Skoda Superb, having previously owned an Audi A6, partly as I was fed up with the big Audi bills (that had come way too often) and the Superb seemed more practical. I thought it would be a come down, but far from it. It’s got way more leg room in the back for my teenage sons (who are now 6ft), loads of boot space, it’s really comfy. It drives pretty much as well as the Audi - ok, if I was being picky, it’s a bit less pokey and the handling isn’t quite as sharp, but the difference is marginal, not enough to worry about. It’s been a great buy so far.

My Mum has had 3 Octavia's over the years. The last one she bought in 2008 at a few months old; she kept it until 2015 when she bought her Volvo V70 (which she still has)... My brother is driving the Skoda as his daily driver now and loves it; it's never put a foot wrong and he's not looking to part with it any time soon either. Personally, I need something larger than what I have now, and the Superb is on the short list.

I recently bought a 09 Plate Saloon Skoda Superb for the exact same reason to transport two dogs with my girlfriend at the weekends also to toe a caravan as the car has a removal towbar. I can honestly say I bought the car which is a top Spec Elegance model with the 2.0TDI 140 BHP model for €1700 after it had been parked for about two years iv spent about 700-800 on repairs and getting it road legal. But I can now say I have so much more respect and appreciation for my €1700 Skoda than my 2014 Audi A4 S-Line. They really are a beast of a car and comfortable they tick all the boxes anyone could ask better than Any Passat or VW Range. Iv only got 155.000miles on mine so im sure to expect many more years trouble free out of the 2.0TDI 140HP Engine! Great video again enjoy the channel! 👍🥳

Another brilliant vid... Have just cleared the final 'balloon payment' just under £5k for our Skoda Superb 2l diesel 4x4 mk 2 facelift , 'petrol blue' cream interior (I know sounds naff but looks ok)... it had 26k on clock when we traded in the Octavia estate and 4 years later 79k on clock... I just couldn't find another car that I could afford and also trust as I know how I have driven it. A few niggly things like a recent replacement of the headlamp self levelling unit (which I think is another one of those needless technological improvements) the wretched emission control light keeps appearing then disappearing then reappearing... Otherwise it serves me well carrying tools/paints/timber... I will keep it while we can still draw fuel from the fuel pumps... I will avoid (with every fibre in my body) the SUV route that Skoda has taken with all beginning with the letter 'K'... boring, boring, boring! Ps. mpg on an everyday non motorway drive returning approx 40mpg, occasional motorway perhaps 45mpg at best! oh yes regarding the ULEZ London doesn't interest me whatsoever... been there done that quite a few years ago now!

I have a 2012 3.6 Elegance hatchback (bought it 4 years ago) which is a hoot to drive, especially since I recently got it remapped to 280bhp. I don't do a huge mileage in it, and it's a bit thirsty, but I love that it's a bit of a sleeper. The only clue is the quad exhaust pipes. Immensely comfortable and spacious, with all the bells & whistles, and it's great for wafting about, but if you put it in sport and floor it, the acceleration and the engine sound puts a smile on your face. Nothing to touch it for the money.
