Yeah. I think it looks sweet too, XMattingly. To be honest, I tried to capture some of the curves on video, but they still came out kinda flat so I didn't use some help of them. I'm saying all of that because you should see it in person with the light bouncing off it.😉👍🏾 Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics I actually you showed its form and style really well -- I seriously want to test drive one now! A coupe would be a seriously impractical 2nd vehicle to me, but wow... you gave me that itch. Thank you, sir. 🚗💨😎👍
Toyota over the years has ventured with Mazda and Subaru with great success. However, this new venture with BMW has not been well received because for many fans Toyota did not do enough in the engineering of the engine, however, this Supra is still a marvelous sportcar. Do not knock it until you drive one.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the older ones, AbsoluteMdot. And while they were fast for their day, this one will spank the pants off of those older ones. There was definitely a difference in power between 2020 and 2021 for this car. Thanks for watching!
This is the one concern, canonlybeme4life. Do we get the BMW performance with Toyota quality or is it all BMW. Hard to imagine Toyota signing off on something questionable, but I guess time will tell. Of course, if this is just a fun weekend car, go for it! It's great (brand new)!
LOL You've got to drive this one, Torsee. I like the BRZ/FRS/86 cars, but this Supra is like that on steroids. Can't speak much on reliability, as we'll have to wait and see. But man, as a new car... I loved driving it. I appreciate your comments, as always!
The new Z should be really nice and now that I've seen this Supra and the Z Proto in person, I still like the design of this Supra. I'm not saying I don't like the design of the new Z, but it's only been shown in concept form so far so I'll hold on to any judgement for now. Thanks for watching!
This Car in Manual, Please!!.. You know I just thought about the advent of the new Nissan Z offering. Possible named 400z?? With a reported manual trans ?? Would be great for Toyota to offer manual for the Supra too! What have you heard if anything??
We don't think Toyota has any plans for a manual in the Supra since the powertrain comes from BMW and they don't have one. But you're right. The new Z should be arriving sooner than later WITH a manual transmission. Thanks for watching, J Joseph Thomas!
Good review Chris, but don't particularly like the car. I mean, 382 hp is only 20 more than my wife's 10 year old SUV. A Tesla Model 3 Performance is the same price, faster top speed, quicker 0-60, and it can carry 5 people. Not sure about the reliability either. It is just a Toyota badge, not actually engineered or built by Toyota, correct?
382-hp works really well on a car that weighs approximately 3,300 lbs, R. Brown. So while your wife's SUV may make the same power, it doesn't do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds like this car does. And while there are A LOT of (reliably questionable) BMW parts on this car, it probably would not have happened if it weren't for the Germans. Yes, the Model 3 Performance is faster (it's faster than a lot of cars), but it doesn't sound as good as this and I'd take this Supra over a Model 3 Performance any day because I'm not ready to go full electric just yet. I still have an attachment to internal combustion engines. LOL At the end of the day, these are good problems to have. And I'm referring to choices. If we all had to drive the exact same car, only a handful of us would be happy. Love the insight. I've missed these comments. Thanks for watching!
The intro song was "Fly Away" by Otis McDonald. Dope, isn't it? For future reference, we typically put the songs in the description. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I am very sorry... But that ain't no Toyota Supra. Just a re-designed BMW including it's crappy engineering. There is not a bit which is Japanese. A same... A big one! At least Nissan and Honda respect their fans (GTR / new NSX)...
I agree... to an extent, FrankypankyV8. You're right. Not much Japanese in this car, but if it weren't for the Germans it may not have been made at all. And it's a really fun driving car. It sounds good, handles good, and makes really good power. Yes, reliability may be questionable (time will tell), but for a lot of people, this wouldn't be a daily driver anyway. If it weren't for the C8 and the wind buffeting that I experienced in the 2020 Supra I reviewed, I'd have this on my personal (fun car) shopping list. Thanks for watching!
