I actually don't have Instagram anymore as I find it all quite overwhelming, there's a lot of content, a lot of choice and I find the information overload a lot. RU-vid I find is much calmer, as you say, to watch, it feels more personal, and I can get on with things whilst watching too!

I totally agree, I also find instagram quite fake as people make their posts and lives seem perfect. And I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems that people kind of brag / show off their lives on instagram. RU-vid feels more genuine, it’s the best!

@@jemmaxx3706 totally agree. And we all know from our own personal experience how easy it is to post a picture of perfection when we know that the reality behind the photo is very different. It can be very damaging to self esteem and also that notion of 'happy all the time' which is unattainable and actually not real life! RU-vid enables the content creator to share more than just a snap shot.

I still love RU-vid. I’ve been watching you about 8/9 years and I never miss a video. I, too, am having a hard time finding channels to watch, especially as a 30 something. I hope you don’t quit any time soon. You’re fabulous!! ❤️

Same! My "problem" is the fact that majority of the girls in their 30s (who I used to watch from the very beginning) are having babies now and a lot of their content is about parenting, what I am not interested in ....

I love that you're sticking with youtube! I've had several of my "regulars" leave the platform and it really bums me out. I watch while I do chores, and sometimes while I work in the background, but my favorite is when I've finished all my Sunday chores with a glass of wine before bed or with dinner. It's very relaxing.

I love your videos so much that I make sure I sit down and properly watch it without having it in the background like I would do with other channels. When you said no one notices when you don’t upload i for sure do! Not to put any pressure of course, I understand the importance of quality time with the family and your presence on the other platforms. It makes me sad that a lot people I love are leaving RU-vid or cutting back on RU-vid content. I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t spend much time on Instagram because I don’t enjoy being on my phone like that and TikTok makes me incredibly anxious. I tried it, but it’s not for me at all. I love RU-vid because I can put it on my iPad and watch the same way I watch tv content.

Dear Lily, you have been one of my favourite content creators for many years. I relate a lot with you even though we always have been in different life stages and have different styles. I much prefer RU-vid to other platforms because, as said, it demands less attetion. And even more important than that, in my opinion RU-vid can be more organic and less "staged" than other platforms. I love having a video in the background whilst doing other things and with your videos I love the routine of having sunday breakfast whilst watching them! x

Yes, be our company when we need it the most! Instagram and Tiktok are too fast-paced, and it's boring to just watch outfit/makeup reels, you cannot show your personality there much. Sometimes you look at an Instagram person and find them too much because you don't get to hear them speak like a normal person. The normality is what we all miss! The normal life, cooking, cleaning, family chats, normal conversations. I've watched your videos since 2014 and it's always felt like you are a friend of mine,the feeling that gets lost on Instagram and Tiktok! Love the long vlog x

Totally agree, please don’t stop RU-vid. I like the chilled, chatty vlogs, I watch while doing my make up. Find it so much more engaging than Instagram. Instagram is like looking at a magazine, sometimes doesn’t feel as ‘real’ it’s also can be stressful mindlessly scrolling.

I definitely notice when you don’t upload, but certainly never mind. I treat my favourite RU-vidrs videos like a weekly tv series. I look forward to dedicating time on Sundays to watch you and Anna and feel a pang of sadness when there’s not a video to watch! the real life insight is what I love, and I don’t think it’s the end of RU-vid!

I'm watching while eating my lunch! Completely agree with everything you said about youtube - I love how laidback it can be. I have a disability that means I'm mostly confined to my house (even in non-covid times) and youtube helps me feel like I'm still connected to the outside world and like I'm listening to a friend talk about their life without taking up anywhere near as much energy as Instagram does. Glad you're figuring out a way to make youtube sustainable for you!

I'm watching this at 3:20pm from Sydney, Australia, while feeding my 6 week old daughter. I appreciate that you'll continue being on youtube. I find the most meaningful connections here. I follow loads of people on Instagram/TikTok and only get to see a fraction of their content. So youtube is strangely enough still where you have the most "influence". I will seldom buy something after seeing it for 4 seconds on Insta/TikTok. I use those platforms for people I already know in another way, for example fellow runners/dancers etc. Btw you're a stunningly beautiful woman, Lily, and I'm so happy you've reverted to your natural hair colour, which was always my favourite.

It's 7:15pm at night - I've just finished my day as a Sports Dietitian in Aus. Today I was organising and analysing different screening tools that we use to detect eating disorders/body image issues in junior and senior elite athletes for the Australian Soccer / Rugby teams. I've got a glass of wine in hand and I'm finishing my other administrative work before I plonk into bed and do it all again tomorrow! My usual Sunday morning routine- buy a hazelnut chocolate croissant whist out with the dog. Come home, pop the kettle on and then sit and enjoy your vlogs with a cup of coffee and a bit of pastry. Hi Lily, my family except me got hit with gastro this weekend so I kept myself busy and did all sorts of boring things like laundry and cleaning out the fridge. It's going to be a good start to the week! Everyone is fine now thank goodness. I'm on my couch in my robe, showered ready for bed wondering saying no to the offer of a cup of tea was the right answer! ;) your insights into RU-vid and other platforms was really interesting and so well spoken! Loved it. I watch yt 95% of the time and it's for me to relax. I don't do anything else. I will watch TV like Netflix etc maybe once a week. X

RU-vid is less toxic than Instagram. I find Instagram very toxic and can be very challenging when it comes to mental health. I always feel bad when I scroll Instagram, the feeling of missing out not having enough clothes, not traveling etc etc. I feel RU-vid is less of that.

I so prefer RU-vid to other platforms. Absolutely right - I often have a video playing in the background. A friend chatting to you. I like a long film 😀. Instagram needs me to sit down and continuously stare, which is not as versatile. Also, RU-vid allows you to connect in a longer term way with creators. Instagram is so fleeting. So, please stay with it - it's so much better than the others x

For me, RU-vid is my 'Sunday Morning Ritual'! I wake up, I make a cup of coffee, and I get ready while a video is playing in the background! I also usually stick to the content creators I first started watching back in the day, like you Lily, and Anna as well. I have to admit though, that I find it very frustrating when one of the content creators I have been following - and actively watching their RU-vid videos - for years, just diasappears, doesn't say anything, and while I'm a RU-vid follower, I have to rush to Instagram to see what's going on. Everyone is entitled to time off, of course, especially when one is self-employed. I just feel that if it's i.e., a planned holiday, or a planned digital detox, etc., and not something unexpected i.e., an illness or a personal/family issue, etc., the content creator should inform the viewers in i.e., a video in advance, the RU-vid community section, etc. It's like watching Friends for 10 years, waiting for the episode to air every week, and then suddenly, there's nothing without so much as a 'Hello!'. I don't know if I'm making sense, or if I'm the only one feeling that way.😖 Other than that, I love RU-vid and prefer it over any other platform for entertainment purposes, as I find it more relaxing to engage with, less stressful, and a generally slower pace of content. I'm doing a few different things~ I have hand washing in the bathtub soaking in some white vinegar for a few minutes, I have a face mask on (for the first time in a bit!), and checking work emails!

I love content that you can ‘savor’ and look forward to, like vlogs. I think IG and TikTok are great for quick entertainment and seeing someone’s life behind the scenes, but you can’t really savor that type of content. I for one am so glad you’re still making vlogs! I also watch Jenn Im, Cecilia Blomdahl, and Venetia La Manna

I really appreciate your thoughts on youtube / social media consumption in general. I definitely enjoy the slower pace of youtube. RU-vid feels like voluntary/purposeful enjoyment vs IG seems more like a „have to“ to combat FOMO, and its more stressful to watch for me personally. I actually really miss the blogging days. Sometimes I just enjoy reading more than watching. :) You look very happy, glowing and comfortable by the way. :)

I am actually doing my nails while watching this video and I totally agree with what your saying about the RU-vid game. I love doing my make up or nails and watching / listening to RU-vid videos. I enjoy you talking and you as a RU-vidr in general. I think Instagram is much more stressful. RU-vid is like a comfort space. Thanks for being here ❤
