As someone who sucks at fighting games but loves SF lore this has been the game ive been waiting for

I’m pretty surprised Makoto isn’t season 1 DLC. She would fit in the game extremely well but I suppose there’s probably going to be several years of DLC opportunities for this game.

It might sound weird but I’ve always liked watching the animated movies more than playing the games because I really like the characters but couldn’t figure out how to play them all that well. Getting to hang out with them all while learning the mechanics is why I decided to finally take 6 seriously. Also when Haggar’s not around everyone should be asking “Where’s Haggar?”.

The beta was like, miles ahead SFV, it's insane how much this game moved forward. Hyped for Friday

It's not like this is new for your videos Matt, but I just want to say I appreciate your honesty in expressing that you didn't have a character you click with or that the music doesn't do it for you. It's not like you're saying either of those things are bad in any way, just that you were left wanting in those areas. I'm always happy to hear that kind of clarity without complete disregard for things that aren't up your alley.

I played the hell out of Alpha 3 and been wishing for a worthy follow-up to world tour. I'm so glad to hear this worked out, going to preorder now. Hopefully they get to adding a lot more characters (Give me Karin).

Always thought it was about time someone made a fighting game like this. Or rather one that changes things up with these types of non-fighter-game mechanics. Anyways, I hope we get a bunch of more "out there" reps in this one! My favourite characters are always the ones like Hakan, Necro, Twelve, Q (or G for that matter), and Oro. I tend to feel the "regular human guy in Gi shirt number 7" gets pretty boring pretty fast.

i don't really have much experience with fighting games since i don't have a console, but the idea of raising friendship points with these knuckleheads by alternately learning their techniques, punching the right people or gifting them valentine's day chocolates is kinda adorable

Had to note, regarding Haggar: I am in total agreement. I would even trade in a Hugo to get a Haggar, no questions about condition or anything.

Not sure if I'm the first to say this but there's a bus stop in the west side of the city so you don't have to use the metro. Not sure if this was added in the day one patch or something but I've been playing for hours and I've only ever had to use the subway once

So two questions. 1: can you play as the avatars offline? 2: can you make more than one avatar?

I would've loved to see Makoto in the launch roster too. Really hope she'll be added in season 2 at the very least.

11:27 I think the reason World Tour ends abruptly is because it was confirmed every single dlc character Capcom is adding to the game is being added to World Tour mode as Masters and with more story being added. So it'd be kinda silly for it to just fully end considering they're going to be adding so much more to it. They didn't say if they'd add more hub worlds with the dlc characters but that might be a possibility

It’s really nice to see Capcom come back in full swing with SF6. This is looking to be the next standard in modern fighting games indeed! So far this has been a good year for the company. But perhaps now, they can open up the rest of their legacy games to get similar treatment.

Dope! I'm a Guilty Gear player flirting with the idea of picking up SF6 so I'm glad you're putting your opinion out there. I think Cammy's badonk at 15:25 might be enough to convince me, but the package as a whole looks really interesting and I'm leaning towards getting it!

I’m gonna spend the first few days or even weeks just goofing around in World Tour, trying out movesets and meeting the characters! I’m also a big Luke fan so I hope he sticks around for more than just one game

World tour mode feels like part Dead Rising, part Final Fight with a Street Fighter theme. It's really fun.

So hyped for this, I come from Smash and just recently started picking up traditional fighting games and I have to say after playing the demo I was hooked. You only get 2 characters and stages, but I've already put around 10 hours into the demo fighting the cpu and playing with a friend of mine, so I can't wait for the full release.

Watching this review really fills me with pure excitement. I have loved fighting games for a real long time but more often than not, found it difficult to jump in as I'm absolutely awful at them. I mean the last fighter I really invested myself in was Tekken Tag Tournament 1. So hearing how open this is to newbies and completely incompetent idiots like me, gets me drooling over how many hours I will be putting in. Great review and looking forward to a great experience!

My issue with the new music is that... Is just hip-hop. Elevator sounding ahh hip-hop. Third-strike was full on with hip-hop aesthetic but it wasn't just that nor was it conservative with its sound. Third strike had jungle, drum and bass, nu funk; it experimented with the new sounds of the rave and club scene and mixed that with character and stage fitting motifs and instrumentation that made the tunes immediately recognizable. It was varied in style, tempo and instrumentation while SF6 everything kinda blends in together

I was really not excited for this game when it was first announced because SFV had really turned me off. But wow, they really turned things around and gave us the vibrancy and personality that the series has been missing since the 2D days. It looks absolutely beautiful, the RE Engine is no joke. Awesome review Matt!

Been a while since I pre-ordered a game, I just knew I had after my experience in both closed betas. Definitely picking up Juri since she's my secondary usually with Bison as my main, but in SF6's case I'll give JP a whirl as while a zoner I still have some sort of Psycho Power squeeze. I'm crossing for fingers for Bison DLC like a Shadaloo Fighter Pack or something though.

Its good to see Capcom respecting single player gameplay, if this World Tour mode is that good, then Tekken 8 and MK1 will have to bring their big guns if they are to keep up. Of course, Namco could always bring something interesting later with a potential Soul Calibur 7, but that probably won't happen anytime soon.

I was looking at your WT footage and thinking it looked like it'd be similar to that Konquest mode, so I'm glad you mentioned it - I thought Deception's Konquest was great fun even if its mechanics weren't the smoothest.

The game might have its flaws, but it is just what we needed after SF V. A return to form. A return to a former state of success and greatness.

As a Hugo main in III and IV, I can’t tell you my pain when you listed like seven Final Fight characters and none of them were Hugo.

I knew this was gonna be a good game but seeing so many good reviews, and now one from you, is such good reassurance! I do agree with you on the base roster though. I'll probably be playing Cammy, Chun-Li, Juri, Ryu and A.K.I, once she gets released, but my favourite characters in the series (Poison, Elena, Laura, Menat, Viper) seem to either be "one and done" deals or only be reserved for DLC spots (we're gonna pay extra for Poison for a third time in a row and we know it!) THANK you for the Dead or Alive reference about gift to icing as a means to make people like you. Tomonobu Itagaki really taught us how to make friends all the way back in the 00s 🤣 I grew up playing mostly Tekken and a bit of DOA2 and SoulCalibur, and didn't really get into SF until much later, but I've been falling deeper and deeper in love with Street Fighter with each new installment since IV ♥️

I remember that first teaser last year for SF6. I was...cautiously optimistic. Then the State of Play trailer happened in June and the hype levels went through the damn roof. Now after a closed and open beta and the demo, I am more ready to get my hands on this game than any other fighting game in my life. Especially since this is looking to be the highest rated SF ever.

I get you are looking for the total package characters, however, I think having pros and cons in each character is what makes a fighting game unique. Having that 1 unicorn character just make it dull

Onimusha 2 had a bonding system same way by finding items that could then be gifted. You had to choose carefully because they had preferences and would accept or even decline them. Met with very mix opinions on things did with 2, I loved the slight more RPG like stuff they tried in it which they later in the series would become very RPG heavy traits for an action adventure game.

I was never into Street Fighter. I think I played SF4 like once on the 3DS and that was probably it. I’ve always been more interested in BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. However, SF6 always looked pretty cool (especially when they showed off Juri :). You talking about this game and especially the World Tour absolutely sold me. I use to play ST ALOT years ago and kinda stopped at 3rd impact. But Oooooh boy, I dunno know why, but this street fighter 6 has really brought me back into the franchise! I'm sooo ready to play this game, mainly the world tour mode! And seeing you play it, I am beyond excited!! TY MATT!!

I was not going to pick up this game despite me having hopes for this game but after playing the World Tour briefly in the demo and then tried the Open Beta with my friends using crossplay, I'm definitely getting it

I like WT but is very small and even though I have explored every corner i feel they could have done more. There are places you think you can go, but theres a invisible wall and breaks the immersion. Many locations feel out of place: E.Honda shouldn't be right next to Chinatown, like you mentioned the subway takes you 2 or 3 blocks you can easily walk when it could've take you to another map like they did in Nayshall going up the mountain.

Shame about not finding a character you click with. I'm just looking forward to playing as everyone with all these added tools. I am bummed there isn't a Sean or Remy as they both seem like they would work well with this aesthetic.

Are rewards different for beating arcade by fighting less opponents? I want to beat all 18 characters story modes as quick as possible, but I don't want to miss out on any rewards.

I like fighting games, but I'm terrible in them, but I really enjoyed the way that game embraces the players.

This might be my first fighting game. The training thing you showed looks like it significantly lowers the barrier for entry. And even if I get my butt handed to me hard I can single player. Yeah I might try this

The options menu is all over the place . Prepare to spend more time looking for a certain setting then actually playin the game. Most the time I'm stuck somewhere becaus I just don't care enought to look up a virtual dictionary to find out wtf what LS means, or some other small detail they feel you don't need to know like how to do a super.

Modern controls may not mean much to a lot of people but it's the difference for me between not caring at all about the game and now being hyped to try it out. Game looks great

I've never really put time into learning SF as it's never been my game like Samsho is but I've always really loved the cast. So I'd read the comics and get through the story modes just to see them. So the World Tour mode's going to get me to actually learn a SF, just having tried it some. Because like, yeah no, I'd love to become besties with Chun Li and see what weird bullshit she texts me. Because I just really like Chun Li. I'm also actually liking the game feel. I tried V when they did that like free weekend thing a few years back and I just hated it. The V trigger just took away the things I thought were neat about the characters. As someone who loved Karin in Alpha 3 the most it was also really disheartening to see her rekka be made an optional thing as opposed to like the cornerstone of her gameplay. VI I don't have something like that taking stuff away from the characters and instead I have like the neat drive system I don't quite get. Also it's goofy but seeing the arcade cabs in the lobby makes me really happy. I played a lot of fighting games in arcades as a kid and while I was awful at them it's something that's always meant a lot to me. There's just something nice about playing against someone in an arcade setting. So it's really that games like this or Them's Fighting Herds are bringing bits of the arcade to the virtual world. It's really cool to pick up a Street Fighter and go "Wow yeah! This is my game!" finally. I hope that Karin comes back in season 2's dlc...

After MK 11 Aftermath as well as other recent Capcom games, I would be surprised if there wasn't World Tour DLC. Also, considering the Final Fight cameos in World Tour mode, it would be a shame to not add one as DLC, even if we have to wait until S2 (Capcom, please make Damnd playable to add a FF 1 character who hasn't been in either SF or Mahvel...).

I heard you mention that every character has a unique mechanic. Is there a list of them somewhere? I can't figure out what Luke's, Honda's, Guile's and Ryu's are (and I might be wrong about some others. I think zangief is just "armored throws" for example?)
