I´ve had the Spyderco Shaman just shy of a year now, and it´s time to talk about it! Spyderco Shaman: shrsl.com/2vzm5 www.patreon.com/farmere Farmer E Postboks 145 2101 Skarnes Norway
Love the vids, watched several times each one. There is something smart doing reviews with great music, knives, humor, and also we can see a part of your real Life. 10/10 👍🏻
This is the best video on Spyderco knives I’ve watched to date. Spyderco should send you the serrated Shaman for test and review 😁. I have watched all your Spyderco reviews since you first got your PM3... all of your videos are both insightful and funny. Spyderco should be sending you more of their knives and gear for review.
I bought the paramilitary 3 because of your video on it. I spoke to my attorney to see if I can press charges on you for my tendonitis. He said no. You got lucky this time
I was glad to hear someone mentioned EDC elbow. Just don't take up a balisong (butterfly knife) flipping... That not only involves EDC elbow, but take I to account.. EDC wrist, and finger fatigue.
We can say that’s your perfect knife but every knife enthusiast knows we are always looking for the next knife to add to the collection, it is a never ending rabbit hole
I realize this is a 10 month old video. It came up under my suggested and you won me over immediately. The second I saw you actually using your knife. Blew me away. I’ve seen many knife channels pop up over the years and nobody uses the bloody things anymore. Where’s the old school tool porn we used to watch? Cardboard torture, tire cutting, real tasks? Right here. Thank you.
Your camera work is so great! I really appreciate when people take the time to make their videos a step above everyone else, and yours really do that. Keep it up man, it's awesome to see your channel growing.
This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen and it was excellent. Love the production quality. Instant subscription. Can’t wait to see your other videos!
Iv had this knife for about 9 months now, just watching your review to make sure I still made the right choice .👍 Great content, your hilarious and very entertaining.
My first spyderco was a plain edge shaman. I loved it so much I bought the fully serrated shaman for my EDC (trucker). Lansky sells a "spyder sharpener" for the serrations. Nice video skills.
That Shaman is a GREAT knife. I use a Spyderco Manix XL out on my land simply because I like the lock on it a little more and find it easier to work with thick gloves on.
I have both, and I honestly can't tell you which I prefer more... I think the Manix MAY have a slight edge over the Shaman in terms of body construction, with its full liners, but that's about it.
Hi E, new subscriber here from the Pacific North West, I truly enjoy your honesty and that you can laugh at yourself!! I think that your idea of a "mud room" is excellent! Also wearing different shoes in and out helps! I love your good attitude and dedication to your family and farm animals! Thank you for sharing your journey!!
I had a lot of problems with mine initially. It didn't want to drop and when I got it to drop there was a significant amount of blade play. I took it apart but same thing. I was thinking of selling it. Just last Saturday (04/09/2022), I decided to take it out again. I played with it and then yesterday (04/11/2022) I removed the pivot screws and loc-tited them. I screwed them in until they wouldn't turn anymore and I figured I would back them out little by little. Wonder of wonders! Without even backing them out, the knife was already drop-shut and there was no more blade play. I guess the action is perfect now. I'm not selling it anymore and I'm loving it a lot.
If you're getting a serrated edge, don't be overly worried about sharpening it. It's not particularly difficult, just time consuming. I use either the corner of the ceramic rods from the spyderco sharpmaker or a sanding film wrapped around an appropriately sized dowel.
I like how you answered the question in your video title within the first 5 seconds. A rare feat on clickbait crazy RU-vid. I still watched your video all the way through, for the simple reason that it was well worth watching! Also awesome how you saw the rain spout halfway off, only to take a hammer and knock the whole thing down. I can personally relate to that way of working! Kudos, friend.
I did that you don't get two craps to route your gutters diagonally across the front of your barn. You are a man who solves problems and you nailed it sir
Best folder Ive ever had in terms of size, and ability to take a beating. My Para2, which I loved for years, moved to the truck for quick access. I just replaced my standard Shaman with the new zwear sprint with the brown micarta. Grip feels perfect.
Ok, I was on the fence on this or Benchmade. You just convinced me to get this one today. I’ll relax for a bit since this was a large expense for me but I know it will be worth it. 😊
Your perfect knife is the one that does the job for you when you need it! Knife guys like us are always trying and testing them, and there is always one that stands out. Very hard to pick and choose 😬 I love Spyderco but, have other brands too.
Hey Farmer E! Stumbled upon your channel recently, absolutely love your videos and camera work. If you haven’t already stopped searching check out the spyderco manix 2. I love fidgeting 24/7 myself and with the cage lock on the manix 2 it’s buttery smooth to flick open without the problems of omega springs. The G10 model I have feels robust, with full stainless steel liners and solid lock up I can’t really do much to hurt the knife. Ps. I’ve had bugout springs break too it really sucks
when you are a good dude with a cool channel who's not trying to be a badass.... but you really are a badass. lovin' your channel so far. may God Bless!
I think the Shaman, it’s little brother Native, and the budget steel version Efficient, are the best looking spydercos. They share the profile of a flat back and look more like a traditional drop point while still having the awesome function of the spyde hole. As much as I like the PM2 and Para 3 I’ve never really loved the look.
Hej Erik! Resten blir på engelska så alla förstår. Tack för alla roliga videos! I highly recommend a serrated blade, it is not only good for ropes but for all abrasive materials. There are two things that are essential to being happy with a serrated blade: owning a Spyderco Sharpmaker and keeping the knife sharp. I have used a serrated blade every day for about a year and there are few times I wish for a plain edged blade. Try it!
Nice video. First time I see those buffaloes in Scandinavia 😁 But I agree with you, Shaman is a compact yet quite beefy, rugged knife which can handle almost everything you throw at it!
As soon as I owned a Shaman I fell in love with it. So much so in fact that one of my Shamans (I have 4 now, since I just bought an S30V DLC like yours!) is in my pocket every day, along with my Hinderer XM-18. I even take it to bed with me (in the waistband of my PJs!). Call me crazy, I mean, I am American! But I love the size, big enough but not too big, and the handle just fits my hand so perfectly. The blade is heavy duty, but still cuts amazingly due to the high flat grind. Sal Glesser is a genius when it comes to knife design, and the Shaman is the pinnacle of everything he's done IMO. Some people say it's too expensive now (was $150 USD when it came out), but I don't think so honestly. I paid $224 for my DLC S30V yesterday, and it's worth every penny. It is as good as my Hinderer, which cost twice as much! If I had to choose one knife from my collection to keep forever, it would be one of my Shamans, but which one? Blade HQ DLC M4? Z Wear and Micarta? One of the S30V knives? I can't say, they are all amazing. And yes, I will be buying more if I can grab any other sprints or exclusives that come out. And they will all be carried and used...although the S30V models will be the only ones going to the jobsite with me because they can be replaced while the others can't. I would hate to lose my Z Wear or M4 in a ditch... Keep up the videos brother! Really enjoy seeing how life is like for a farmer in Norway! Those Buffalo...haha!
I love the shaman! My personal favorites are the micarta cruwear and micarta zwear ones! They’re out of this world for factory knives!! I hope you can keep the shaman! If you still have it, I’d love to buy and send you a lynch NW deep carry clip for it so you can try it out!
They’re definitely an incredible knife for sure and built like a tank. I have the GORGEOUS M4 steel and micarta scales Version that was a blade hq exclusive model. I love carrying it every day (I’m a front pocket guy as well). I do still go back to my incredible Maxamet paramilitary 2 though. That’s another just incredible knife. That’s the only downfall of having multiple VERY nice knives is deciding which one to carry.
I lost my Shaman in January, until then it hadn't left my side for more then a few hours in total. In the best case scenario it's somewhere in the forest, in a 4km radios from my house. I'm heartbroken, it was the best knife l ever owned. I just had to buy a new one, in fact I bought two! Fidget forever.
I FU..ING FOUND IT!! The snow is slowly disappearing, me and my dog went for our usual walk thru the forest, and there it was!! Still sharp, still excellent fidget action. Happiness restored. Sooo... now I got three.
The Shaman is awesome! But I'd try the Hogue Ritter RSK. It's a more refined Benchmade Griptilan. And has stronger Springs for the Axis type Lock. Super fidgeting fun too!
Enjoyed your video from Farmersville Texas. I would keep the blade you have. My understanding serrated blades are just much harder to sharpen. Keep up the good work.
I also agree with others about benchmade and their axis lock, I own a bugout and it's one of my most carried knives. I'm not sure what you're knife laws are but I highly recommend a microtech ultratech. I find OTF knives and botton lock knives to be my favorite for fidget friendly. Microtech's are a work horse and guaranteed for life.
The Demko Ad-20 is the ultimate knife for what you do. Takes up the same amount of space but more blade, better steel, even easier to open and close, way more fun to fidget, better grip and it is a custom knife for about 80 dollars more. Everyone else realizes this at the moment so you have to watch and order fast when the drops happen but your audience is big enough someone would gladly watch for you anyway. If you are interested I can start looking for one for you
I just got a new pm3 in m390 today cause I lost my old s30v one a couple weeks back. Should not have clicked on this video. Massive urge to pull the trigger on a shaman right now. Thankfully nothing other than the s30v variants are in stock so I will probably wait a bit. Great video sir!
@@FarmerE Ideally yes. I just love M390. By far my favorite knife steel. The edge just never seems to go away even after some hard use. I'd settle for the s90v or M4 variants though. Finding those knives in stock is a whole other story though haha
I think the Spyderco Smock has to be one of the all time best fidget knives out there with its multiple (I count 6 for me) deployment methods. Often it’s my EDC.
@@captainskippy6622 Now that you’ve discovered the sixth method, you are no longer a foundling... This is the way. .... But now I just remembered there is a secret clan seventh method. 😬 1. Slow thumb roll 2. Thumb flick 3. Spydie middle finger flick 4. Flipper index finger 5. Button flick 6. Spydie drop 7. SeCrEt cLaN method. *but I actually don’t like to use it but 👍 if you can guess the seventh. Lol
