Hi Everyone! Thanks for watching the video! Please remember to click the thumbs up and subscribe to the channel! I’ve got other videos live with the chance to win some golf balls!

I just bought one. I was having sticker shock and regrets for paying that much money but you’ve put me at ease. I am TH fan having two other watches.

No problem at all! I’ve owned mine for 2.5 years now and love it as much as the first day I got it. Whilst I use it for golf every week and it’s perfect for my needs (yardages, tracking score, driving distance tracking and basic stats) but the one thing I would say is it is an excellent smart watch too. I get just as much use out of the notifications from my iPhone and the Tag Wellness app tracking my steps, runs and cycles. I’ve also not seen any decline in battery life or health either. I always get a full day out of it. I stand by my comment in the video that I probably wouldn’t have ever bought one (because I’m tight!) but it’s definitely the best gift I’ve ever received! And if you’re a TH fan already then I’m sure you’ll feel the same! 👍🏼

Nice job mate. I’ve just ordered the none golf version which I believe still has all of the golf features available without “Golf Edition” around the outside which I’m really not a fan of. Your review was great, the fact you have been running the watch for 6 months means your review has much better value to me. Thanks for the upload

Hi Fizzy! Thanks for watching! Yes as I understand it the golf edition is the hole numbers on the bezel, the golf ball styled strap and a few golf related goodies that I got in the box. But my understanding matches yours that the watch itself performs the same! I’ve had it 2.5 years now and I still wear it every day without fail and love it! It’s perfect for me! I hope you like it as much too! All the best and thank you for watching! 👍🏼

Great video. thanks. I'm was trying to decide if i was going to get the golf edition. I have a low end garmin s40 with the club sensors. watching you do all the manually entries was an eye opener. i dodged a bullet. I think all-in i spent less than a thousand on watch and sensor and then i added the garmin simulator and still i spent less than half the cost of this watch. The Garmin automatically tracks my score and all shots by club. The accompanying app takes the stats the next level. I'm still getting the connect, as it is an amazing smartwatch but not getting the golf edition. Anyone that has a Garmin golf watch, try the ct10 sensors before getting a new watch.

Hi Dwight! Glad you found the video helpful and thank you for watching! I absolutely love the watch still but I must admit I’m not massively into tracking my stats these days, so use the golf parts mainly for the GPS and keeping my score plus some very basic stats so it suits my needs. Also I love and use the rest of the smartwatch capabilities probably more (fitness tracking, notifications etc.). However, as I said in the video, if it wasn’t bought for me as a gift I couldn’t justify the price tag (excuse the pun! Haha!), particularly over the Garmin’s like you’ve touched on which do seem excellent value! Thanks also for sharing your recommendation on the CT10 sensors! All the best! 👍🏼

I enjoyed your video. I was gifted with one, not sure I would have bought it for myself. Still learning to use it. So far, I'm impressed with the features, but the battery life is short. It charges fast, and I make sure I'm at 100% when I start a round. Once the features become second hand to me, I'm sure the use will be more enjoyable. Learned a lot from your video. Thanks!

I have both the Garmin S62 and the Tag E3 golf edition. It took a little while but I like the Tag hands down. While the S62 has it's pro's, battery life being one of them. I have figured out to get more than 2 rounds on the Tag E3 with one minor issue. Also of note, I don't turn off any other apps and use the watch GPS and not my phone. I believe if you turn off the turn wrist to turn on screen, you will use so much less battery. The only issue is that you have to use touch to wake up the screen. Which isn't really a big deal, as I'm usually touching the screen anyway to see front, middle and back distances. I found this out by accident of course as when I first got this watch, by messing with the settings after the first few uses drained a lot of battery. I must have either turned off "turn wrist to awake" or turned on "touch to awake" and then noticed I only used roughly 35% battery per round. Check it out in gesture settings. Hope this helps everybody, unless you absolutley must have the convenience of must turning your wrist to wake up your watch screen...

Hi Tony! Thanks for watching the video and for such a helpful and informative comment! That makes a lot of sense and is similar to some of the ways I’ve improved battery life (mainly around minimising the screen being on!). I’ll definitely check out your method too as I’m always keen to protect the battery life and like you don’t see that half a second of waking the screen as an issue as I’m sure you get into a habit of doing it just as you approach your ball? Thanks again, Luke

Luke, I coming from Garmin S60 and have some questions. If you would be so kind: do the watch show automatically the last shot length? Wenn you put your HCP in it, will stabelford be automatically computed? Do you see, what score you get at each hole? Can you see „live scoring“? Can you see the whole graph of a hole? I am trying to put my German thoughts in to English 😇🤭 I hat chat with TAG Heuer but it was not helping me, to make a decision. To spend blind 2.500€ is not easy, so I am looking for videos to find information‘s I need. Your video is the only useful I found after searching for a week. Thanks for that. Just read all the comments, hope my questions are slightly different 😉
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi go2andreas! Thank you for watching the video and for your comment and questions! I’ll try my best to answer them for you! Yes you can choose to score using stableford method. When you start a new round you have a choice of stroke play or stableford scoring and then you can choose between gross and net scoring. If you choose to setup a round as stableford and by ‘net score’ it will include your handicap and the stroke index of each hole to calculate it for you. To see your ‘live stableford score’ you can swipe up on the watch and choose the ‘leaderboard’ option and this will tell you your live score. The outside of the watch always shows you (using colours) what your strokeplay score is on each hole - I think I show this at 8:30 in the video - but this helps you at a quick glance too. I haven’t found a way to show the graphic of the whole hole so you do have to scroll to do this. You can however choose what the default view is between the green and the ‘smart target’ - which is where the watch thinks you will want to play your next shot to (for example on a par 4 or par 5 it will default on the fairway where your drive would go based on the average distances you have inputted). This may help you? Sadly I’ve never used a Garmin so can’t compare however I have a friend who has recently bought a new Garmin S62 and it seems, on quick glance, quite comparable when using it to play golf. So I guess it is about what you prefer and whether you’ll get the benefit of all the other features the Tag watch offers. I hope that helps! Any follow up questions please let me know! And once again thank you for watching!
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Apologies, I forgot to answer your first question about automatically logging the last shot length. It doesn’t do this automatically but you can press one of the buttons on the watch when you get to your ball and it will register it. I’ve not used this feature beyond testing it works so I’m not sure if you can go into the phone app afterwards and choose which club you used for extra data. That would be probably be a question for Tag!

Hi Lucky Lukey! Currently I don't wear a watch when golfing and would be worried it would feel bulky on my wrist - what's your thoughts? Thanks

Hi Neil! I was worried about this too, especially as my only previous experience of wearing a watch on the golf course was the original Shotscope which I personally found too bulky on my very small wrists. However the Tag Heuer Connected is so light (and because I wear it 24/7) I forget it’s there… However I guess it’s all personal preference!! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

Good video, however I am more curious about the battery life because it’s critiqued a lot for this and it’s a bit crazy for the price.. is it workable ? So after 18 holes am I still going to have over 50’percent battery?
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 7 месяцев назад
Hi Shaboob! So I always get a full day out of the watch no problems… and charge it overnight. I’d probably get 36 hours without a round of golf if I didn’t charge and 24 hours with a round of golf. I also use it a lot each week for running, push notifications and tracking my health data. For the golf, I think it all depends on the settings you use… if you have the watch face set to always be on during a round of golf then it drains the battery rapidly as it’s basically being asked to keep the GPS signal live for 4 hours non-stop. Whereas I have the watch set so that I tap the screen to turn the screen back on and I press it as I’m getting to my ball, it then takes about 2 seconds to pick up my latest GPS location and away I go. It has zero impact on my pace of play and it’s just an ingrained habit now. I also then enter my score at the end of each hole and do some post round added stats on the app when I get home. I have a friend who has a top of the range Garmin and it’s hard to fault that - the only thing I’ve noticed in favour of the Tag over it is the screen quality/brightness. Both obviously massively drain the battery over the Garmin so it’s all about protecting that where you can! I hope that helps! 👍🏼

@@shaboob7604 No problem! I love my Tag and wear it every day without fail, but my honest view (I think I touched on this in the video) is that I wouldn’t buy it - it was a wedding gift bought for me by my wife - not because I don’t think it’s excellent but because I think the Garmin’s do 95% the same with more battery life for a slightly worse screen or the Apple Watch with an app like Hole 19 has the screen and similar golf capability and battery life for about 1/3 the price. So you are paying a significant surcharge for the Tag brand and a statement piece; and that’s for each individual person to determine if it’s worth it! 👍🏼

I just got the new Tag E4 golf for my birthday. However, I’m used to the Garmin and still trying to learn it so a little undecided just yet. How do you get the front middle back yardage you mentioned in a comment?
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Brandon! Thanks for watching and for the comment! Assuming we are both using the same version of the Tag Golf app, when playing a round my screen displays the following: right half of the screen is the birds eye visual of the hole, bottom left is my score on that hole and top left is the yardage to the middle of the green (or the ‘smart target’ if you’ve changed the setting to do that). If you tap the watch screen on the top left where the yardage is displayed, on mine, it opens a full screen showing the back, middle and front yardages as well as the time, hole you are on and the par for the hole. To return to the main screen you simply tap anywhere on the screen. Hope that helps and let me know if it works!!!

1,5 day off battery or 1 round is really terrible. I use the Garmin Marq Golfer and easy use it for 12 days (with all notifications active) or 3-4 18 hole rounds off golf before having to charge it. Before buying compare the watches but also the accesories, the Garmin is clean and perfect to ”make it your own”
@weekendtourpros

Hi Peter! Thanks for watching the video and for your informative comment! I have friends with Garmin’s and they speak really highly of them and their battery life so hard to disagree, especially at their price point! I don’t think the Tag Heuer is trying to compete against the Garmin’s in that regard but more competing against the Apple Watch as an all round smart watch and in that regard battery life is comparable! So I think it’s just about what your buying criteria is and what features you value most! But I can absolutely see why people go for the Garmin’s they look great! All the best, Luke

hey buddy, do you get a full round out of the battery 🔋 people saying you can't.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Sam! Thanks for watching and for the question. I’ve never had an issue with the battery life and completing 18 holes. I usually have about 30% battery left after a round of golf. Obviously how much battery a round uses would depend on the settings people use (on the watch generically) vs what I use? In my generic watch settings I DON’T have the screen set to ‘always on’ and use a 15 second screen timeout. This means that my watch face turns off when I’ve not used it for 15 seconds and then wakes up when you turn your wrist to look at it without pressing any buttons. When I’m on the course I turn my wrist as I walk up to my ball and within 2 seconds it picks up my current GPS location and gives me the yardage. This doesn’t slow play down for me and isn’t a problem as I’ve always had the generic watch settings like this so it feels normal to me. I imagine if you have the watch face set to ‘always on’ you’d struggle with battery life without using the golf app. But with the golf app you’d effectively be asking the GPS to also be always on and therefore constantly updating with every step for 4 hours - now that, I imagine, would drain the battery but I don’t know why you’d want to or need to do this as you only care about the yardage when you get to your ball each time… Hope that helps and any other questions please let me know. Thanks again for watching!

@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Robert! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video! No plans currently to update the video however that is mainly because I personally haven’t noticed a lot of differences since the update. The only things I’ve seen are: 1. The watch face I use has a slightly larger and more modern font which makes it a bit easier to see my steps and battery life % than previous. 2. In the golf app the visuals of the course have improved slightly and it’s a little easier to get to different features (and I’ve now found out how to quickly find the front, middle and back yardages for the green which I’m not sure if it is new or just something I couldn’t easily find before) On your point about battery life, I’ve personally not seen any difference since the update… Was there any other specific features of the update you’d want me to reply on for you?
@robertwillison6889
@robertwillison6889 2 года назад
@@weekendtourpros Thanks for the reply. Yeah, so I use the Garmin S62 and am wondering if I should treat myself to the latest version, E4. The Garmin can last 2 18 hole rounds of golf so I have had no issues there. With the Golf Edition Tag Heuer, they claim 30% better battery life from the 2020 model and a promise of even better battery life when the OS Wear updates to 3.0. One question: I live in Japan, and golf here has a forced 1 hour lunch in between each 9 holes, so you are essentially out on the course for around 6 hours sometimes. Is there a way to pause battery draining golf functions between the 9 holes? Thanks!
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Robert! It’s also really cool to here someone living in Japan has seen my video! As a new RU-vid channel and someone who is learning as they go it’s great to see how positively the experience is going! So thank you! No problem at all and glad I can help. In terms of your follow up questions, I haven’t got Wear OS 3.0 on the watch yet as I think it’s on limited devices for now so can’t comment on how much the battery life will improve things but based on my experience with my watch I don’t see it lasting 36 holes with me using the Watch as the source of the GPS as this is the primary drain on the battery. I’ve played 18 holes today and used it a bit and I’m at 23% battery left at just before 5pm. On your question of pausing mid round, I couldn’t find a way to do that today however you can really quickly and easily on the watch, in the Tag golf app, swap the GPS source from watch to phone. Where this is the primary battery drain you may find that it saves some battery for you in that mid round break and gets you through (whilst hopefully not draining your phone battery either!). Hope that helps and once again thanks for watching! Any other questions please fire them over! Luke

@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Zaiivonhest! Thank you for watching the video and for your comment! I think that’s really fair! I have a friend who has a similar model Garmin to you and after going on a golf holiday with him and playing 3 rounds and him not charging it once vs. me charging everyday - I think when comparing the two the Garmin battery life is brilliant! For me, I was only able to compare it, when I made the video, to other smartphone watches I’d had (Huawei) and friends experiences using Apple watches, both of which would need a chart everyday of normal use and, in my experience with the Huawei watch would struggle to make it through 18 holes, let alone the rest of the day, using an app like Hole 19 as a GPS and score tracker. It does seem though that Garmin have got the perfect balance of screen brightness and GPS usage to give effective battery time so they deserve huge credit for that! Thanks again for watching and all the best! 👍🏼
@phreak761

The Garmin is a totally different machine, it's not the same as a traditional smart watch. The screen stays on permanently with its transflectice memory in pixel display meaning it's dull in low light and extremely visible in direct sunlight, it does have a backlight which comes on when interacting with the device, the weakness of the screen being its lower resolution compared to other watches and its slower less responsive processor. There are a few sports apps you can install for mountain biking or running and extra watch faces but nowhere near the plethora of apps you can get on the Google watch platform. The battery life is of course unbeatable for a sports or golf watch in general which has as many features as the S62, the Garmin connect app and Garmin golf app provide in depth analysis of your golf game and health stats tracking. In summary the Garmin is considered by many to be the best golf watch on the market which is hard to argue with when the other offerings don't have half the features the Garmin has.

Hi Eye of the Storm! Thanks for watching my video and for such an informative and considered response! I really appreciate comments like this! I’ve heard amazing things about all Garmin watches and have a friend who owns a golf one and speaks very highly but you’re spot on that there are two different markets crossing over here (smart watch market and golf gps watch market) and depending on which side of the market you predominantly see yourself will determine which you see as better value. That being said I also recognise that there are many credit google smart watch alternative to the Tag at much more respectable price points and as much as I absolutely love mine I know I wouldn’t have got one if it wasn’t a gift from my wife! Hi Kyle! Thanks for watching my video and for sharing your own recommendation! I have friends who own various Garmin watches and all speak incredibly highly of them! The only thing I’ve noticed in theirs (not sure any of them own the Epix or Epix Pro though so this might not be a valid point when compared to those models) is that the screen on the Garmin feels very basic and low quality vs the Apple Watch or the Tag. Has that improved in the Epix? I do think you can’t fault the battery life of a Garmin, they are industry leading and they always seem fantastic watches! As I said in the video, I wouldn’t have bought this watch myself given the price point and I do think you are paying for it to be a Tag as it isn’t greatly different except for the Tag apps from other Android based smartwatches in terms of functionality. 👍🏼

Hi there, after 5 month of using the watch I would like to share some my experiences - if there is any kind of community/forum, please share it - as TAG Heuer Support is not taking my requests into account and I am not sure, if just me have some useful demand of some functions. Hi all, after using the watch for 5 months I would like to share some of my experiences - if there is any kind of community/forum please share - as TAG Heuer support does not honor my requests and I am not sure am just wondering if I have a useful demand for some features/fixes. for example: 1. not always the first beat is registered and if the first one can be registered, why not the next ones? 2. if the further strokes are (can) be recorded, one could also measure and display the distance 3. If you leave the green and have not entered a score and the watch still recognizes that you are going to the next hole, it does not vibrate and remind you to enter the score 4. If you set the clock to automatically go from hole to hole, it doesn't work on lanes that are close together, so far only switched on once, otherwise it jumps from 13 to 4, for example 5. this bothers me the most: when you finish the round, all the data is gone (leaderboard) and you can only look at it on your smartphone. Why? You can at least show short statistics about the score (gross/net), steps, distance and duration and ideally also save them so that you can only call them up later on the watch. All the data is there! It can't be that difficult. I've already written to the support several times and I'm wondering if I'm the only one who would like to have such a statistic? 6. when you're on the lap I find the watch very sluggish as far as GPS is concerned. It takes a long time for the watch to show the correct distance. Sometimes you have to move your arm up and down to get the correct distance displayed. It has happened to me before that I picked the wrong club. Very annoying. I think the battery is ok. Usually start with 98%, after 18 holes it's still around 45%, which is good. I would like to know your experiences. Thanks to Luke for making the video because TAG Heuer is unable to put out a viable manual.

Hi Go2Andreas! Thank you for your comment and follow up on the video! Apologies I have only just seen your comment! I am not aware of any forums but think that anyone watching the video will benefit greatly from your suggestions (as it shows some potential features that may be missing!). My thoughts are: 1&2. I don’t use the shot logging feature but I think you are correct. If it can track the tee shot, why not the other shots? 3. This is a cool idea! I do sometimes forget! 4. I find this works really well for me but I assume it depends on the course you are playing. Interesting to hear you’ve had issues with the GPS here though! 5. This is a good point. The watch is only an input tool and does not have a way to review data post round without using your phone. I agree that this is a bit silly. 6. Again I personally don’t have issues with this but I guess the course I play has good GPS signal? I have played one course where the GPS must have been poor as I had issues all round but assume this would have been the same for any GPS watch?! I also totally agree on the battery comment. I don’t have issues personally with the settings I use.

From a functionality aspect I need to get more familiar with it. To me it slows down the pace I prefer to play at. A distraction trying to access the features when I’d rather just walk up and hit the shot. I’m now where near as good of player as I was back then. Hi Kevin! Thanks for the reply! All fair comments! I use it predominantly to keep my score by entering it as I walk between holes or whilst my friends are putting out and then to get a yardage if I can’t laser the pin so I probably don’t maximise the features either in truth. I do use it day to day as a smart watch though and get a lot of use out of this… like I said in my video, I probably wouldn’t have paid for one as I don’t think it’s any better than an Apple Watch with an app like Hole 19 on it or Garmin golf watch, both are much cheaper but as a gift from my wife I do love it! I hope that helps and thanks for watching the video! www.tagheuer.com/us/en/smartwatches/collections/connected-calibre-e3/45-mm/SBG8A82.EB0206.html

@@weekendtourpros Ok great. Some other reviews said the battery life is terrible, it will die after 15 holes. Whats your experience like?

Hi Jim. Thanks for the reply! I’ve never had any issues with the battery life and always complete 18 holes with no issues (27 rounds logged in the golf app so far). However I think different people will have different experiences to me depending on the settings they use. I have the screen set to timeout after 10 seconds of inactivity. When using the golf app this means that after 10 seconds the watch screen goes blank and then automatically turns back on when I turn my wrist. By doing this I’m not asking the GPS, which is the main drain on the battery, to be updating with every step I take. How this works for me in practice is that as I get 5-10 yards from my ball, or anything I want to measure a yardage to/from I turn my wrist and the watch face turns back on automatically and by the time I get to my ball, a couple of seconds later, the GPS has picked up my location and I have my yardage to play my shot. As a result I’m only using the GPS for 1-2 minutes per hole which I assume must use less battery vs. Leaving it always on. I imagine if you leave the screen set to ‘always on’ then you would struggle with battery life, even on non-golf days as the screen is constantly lit up. Hope that helps and any other questions please let me know!

@@weekendtourpros ok that’s great but I guess by doing that it won’t measure your steps? Also I wonder if the latest model has better battery life. Do you find the measurements accurate ?
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Jim! Having the settings like I do does not impact the step count at all. I’m not sure how it measures steps or any of the other health data but having the screen on does not impact any of the data being collected (steps, heart rate, calories burned etc.). I have the same settings on when I use it for running and cycling and it still measures all of those things and my distance accurately - although does drain the battery quicker as I assume the GPS is having to stay on in the background to measure your distance and map the route you’ve taken. However I personally have no issues doing a 1.5 hour cycle or a 45 min run and using the watch for the rest of the day. In terms of the accuracy of yardages on the course, I find these to be very good. I have a Bushnell laser too that I already had beforehand and still use to occasionally measure a flag etc. when I do this I find the two to be really close relative to the flags location on the course. I have played one course which is incredibly densely tree lined and in the middle of nowhere where I had a couple of strange yardages which I assumed were due to poor gps signal but that’s only happened on one round, at one course and only for a couple of occasions in 18 holes. I understand from reading that the new model does market itself on better battery life but I’ve not seen it first hand to compare. Hope that helps!

All we need is something like this to make people play slower. Thanks
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Hi Christine! Thanks for watching the video and for the comment! Do you think GPS watches and lasers slow pace of play down? If so I’d love to hear why as I think this is an interesting debate! I personally find that I’m slower without a laser or gps as it takes me longer to work to work out my yardage and I often hit the wrong club which means I end up taking more shots. More shots for me = slower pace of play. What are your thoughts?
@christinechase278
@christinechase278 2 года назад
@@weekendtourpros it’s not the laser, it’s the plugging in of scores, clubs hit, putts taken, etc. if it only gave yardages it would be fine.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 2 года назад
Thanks for the reply Christine! That makes sense! To be honest I don’t use the functionality to plug in the clubs hit etc. like you unless I was using a tool like Arrcos or Shotscope which has sensors in your clubs to automatically do this for you, then I would never do it manually. All I use my watch for is getting my yardages and then as I’m walking from one hole to the next, or whilst my playing partner is putting out, I then simply input my score and putts. This takes a maximum of 5 seconds per hole and my playing partners wouldn’t have even realised I’ve done it! Thanks for the reply and for watching my video! I really appreciate it!

Bought a Tag golf watch one year ago and now, it could not be charged. Brought it to Tag for repairs. Services came back with all sorts of excuses … that the lugs are cracked, glass is cracked…etc. i only use it for golf and dont remember any heavy knocks to the watch. Their recommendation is for me to buy a new head at half the price of the watch, them doing me a favor… cant claim warranty. Bullshit!!! Will not buy tag till the day I die.

Hi Adam! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! I’m really sorry to hear about your experience; that doesn’t sound like the level of service I would expect from Tag. I don’t have any direct line of contact with Tag but if I did I’d be more than happy to help. Have you taken it back to where you purchased it from as often in the UK that’s the answer? Best of luck getting it resolved!

Adam - just by way of follow up, I’m not sure this will get us anywhere but I think as a golf community we should try and help each other, I’ve contacted Tag Heuer for you tonight and explained your situation and tried to see if I can obtain the details of a senior complaint manager to help you out. I’m not expecting it to go anywhere but the least I can do is try for you pal! I’ll reply on here if I hear anything! 👍🏼

Yeah what they are not telling you is if you flip the watch over and look at the back, it’s says “ MADE IN CHINA!” no Swiss time piece here, just $2600 of china made. Very deceptive .

Haha good spot Jim! I literally took my watch off and flipped it over after seeing your notification! My model doesn’t say made in China on it but it does, in small print, simply say ‘China’ on it!
