A walk down Allison street in Glasgow. Could this street officially be the worst Street in Glasgow. If you know a worse street, Let me know the name of that street in the comments.
I lived in allison street back in 1975 when i was first married. I wouldn't take a house there now if i was getting it for nothing. Its like a ghetto now... wonder why ???
I started school in St Brides Primary in 1975. I still remember a man who walked past the school (opposite Craigie Street Police Station) carrying a cassette player on his arm, no headphones. Still remember his flared trousers. I was 5 years old and would sometimes go to to D M Hoey in Victoria Road for lunch with my mother when at school. Weird what we remember. I lived near Govanhill for 20 years form 1997 to 2018, walked through the dump many a time day and night. UK is ruined.
My aunt lived there. It was spotless with wonderful people. It's an absolute tip now. She's heartbroken looking at this. How many Scottish people actually live there now? Sturgeon should be jailed for this.
It's sad to see. My maternal grandparents lived on Dixon Avenue when I was a kid. When my grandfather died my grandmother and her sister moved to Cartvale Road and my uncle lived just around the corner on Sinclair Drive. I visited my grandmother at Cartvale Road in early 1982 and walked all around this area. It was still fine back then. I never went back till 2017. I was so disappointed to see what a depressing dump the area had become. Queen's Park was the same. As a wee boy I remembered it being clean, with swans, and people sailing little boats on the pond. I'd go with my grandfather and catch a little fish in a jam jar to take home to admire and then my grandfather would take it back and let it go the next day. in 2017 the park (at least around the pond) there were no swans, not many people, no one sailing boats and I think the little fish would have died in that water. It seemed unmaintained and filthy compared to what it had once been.
It's so bad. I walked through there maybe 5 years ago. You will rarely see or hear a Scottish person (yuou can tell from this video too). They're all either from some south Asian country or Roma or probably Albanians. If I was a young Scottish woman I'd stay well away from there.
the southside has been home to immigrants since it was built , there are over 80 nationalities in an 8 block radius in the southside in govanhill, its a very diverse place. However there are plenty scottish folk still living there, Ive lived in the southside for nearly 15 years now and its a great place to live, my only concern is the rubbish on the streets, but the council dont bother their arse to lift it , and people have a big fly tipping issue despite the nearest dump at Polmadie recycling plant. The place could do with a bit of community spirit and keep it clean. There are tales of shady goings on with child trafficking and prositution but Im not sure if they are just xenophobic rants or they have any truth to them. On a positive note, some friends and I started a basketball community in the southside and lots of the young kids join in to play games at the queens park in the summer so the community is very diverse. There are lots of things to do so kids arent resorting to gangs and stuff like that.
@@sapien82 I've stayed and used to hang about govahill for a very long time so for me its a nostalgic place, but it has changed a lot since the first time I set foot in it, it even changed 10 years after that but 20 or so years on it's changed that much I don't feel a connection to the place anymore.
Lived in nursery st few minutes walk from there, for a couple of years not long ago ,the streets are full of immigrants very few natives ,the back lanes are piled with litter from house hold furniture black plastic bags et , when I was young it was classed as a we’ll too do area, not now it’s a shite hole
Not the worst street by any means - In fact i would say its improved a bit because as a lot of the immirants moved in a lot of the scummy drug addicts moved out and i know who i would rather live beside
Rubbish its way safer than a lot of places in Glasgow like out in the schemes -Have you ever walked down there at night yourself or are you a Big Jessie @@neilmaclean294
I'm against any more immigration but let's face it people, as bad as Govanhill, Cessnock and Pollokshields are for fly tipping, loitering, fireworks, gang activity and being unsafe for single women, I'd rather walk through those places at night than Govan, Shettleston, Possil, Parkhead, Toryglen, Nitshill, Pollok, Penilee, Drumchapel, Easterhouse, Tollcross, etc.etc.etc. and that's just a few places that come to mind in Glasow. Then you've got areas in Clydebank, Dumbarton, Coatbridge, Barrhead, Paisley, Airdrie, Cambuslang, Blantyre, Hamilton, Motherwell, Wishaw etc.etc.etc. I could head West to Greenock, Stevenston, Irvine and Kilmarnock etc.etc.etc. I won't even bother going East, there's too many shiteholes to mention over there.😆
Good point definitely feel safer than would any of those but keeping your head up and being confident not looking like a victim is good practice in alison street possil or anywhere because when cretins smell fear and vulnerability they see an easy target and act out .
@@henryDzieciontko I've lived and worked in many dodgy places around the city so I know it very well. Govanhill has problems that are not unique to the place but are particularly bad there. Maybe it will change with education and integration but I won't hold my breath.
Fair point I'm here all the time and never feel intimidated. But in the 80s 90s alison street was the murder capital off Europe full of drugs guy i grow up with died in a close on vicky road of heroin od . Les drugs an bams now but i fo know a guy who got slashed by 3 roma guys trying to mug him but he's a big guy they got nothing but a bloody nose . Been a few incidents like that but nothing compared with if it was full of bams from here like back in the day. When my dad was born and raised in g hill he said it was great until the 80s .
@@cutekanjii You mean she put asylum seekers in the area, complying with our country’s willingness to accept them. The area has always been a place where migrants have found housing but don’t let that get in the way of justifying your prejudices, political or otherwise.
@@tiffer67 Our country's willingness? How do you even know that? Immigration is the number 1 topic polling right now and has been for the past few years in the UK and I strongly doubt it's any different in Scotland. He has a perfectly valid point. The SNP are not Scottish nationalists. They only hide behind that and the Scots' obsession with independence. SNP are, like the guy said, following cultural/neo Marxist politics. The head of the party is now a Pakistani who has openly expressed his dislike for Scotland having so many white people in certain jobs. A racist by definition.
@@DPhoenixPoet I'd usually agree with this kind of sentiment but there linguists employed to cover many languages in govan hill my friend works with social work and said they need to employ translators to cover over 20 languages it's a real strain on the council to cover all the language complications and keep them all in benefits if they aren't getting everything they are entitled to it can end a a head ache so mentall amount of translators needed because many languages are spoken there although the most noticeable are Roma and Pakistani muslim .
The Roma people on the whole are nice enough to live beside - They are always happy and their children are always well dressed and happy too so that tells you something about them - You get the odd handfull that steal out of charity shops but then you get Scottish people that do that too in the same numbers - Thats life and just something we have to deal with. Allison Street and the area around it is not the worst street in Glasgow - Far from it
I lived at govanhill from 2008 until 2016. Was walking past alison street very often. Love the veg corner shops, Never ever had any trobule anywhere at govanhill.
The worst parts of this video is that i could hear the person who was filming spit out green mucus 🤢 towards the end. It makes me feel sick. Get some tissues please.
>The proportion of people residing in Glasgow born outside the UK was 19.1% in 2022, compared with 12.2% in 2011 and 5.7% in 2001. There's your answer. Thanks SNP.
This is by far not the worst street in Glasgow, there are not drug addicts hanging around the street corners, there is very little litter on the street, maybe go to somewhere like Possil Park. Are you a local to Glasgow.
Did you not see the the litter the flytipping the graffiti, even worse round the backs and up the closes where you might be offered sexual services by minors, aswell as drugs.
@@DPhoenixPoet well if the area is full of those people as you say, then the crimes will be comitted by those people on those people, just like any other group, this didn't look even close to the worst street in glasgow, you go on about them dropping litter nut not one of you complained about the camera man spitting on the street did you?? yeah but you are not wacist.
That wee dog at the begining is called Dougal - It has a gambling problem you always see it in one or other of the bookies - usually at the bookies nearer the top of Victoria Road
Royston Road there's bugger all there really. Really dreary and another place immigrants are the majority in and i don't care if they are 4 or 5 generstions on from the last immigrants, they still kerp to that cultural identity. As a true blue scot not off any immigrants, i find it's a disgrace. Whatever happened to the indigenous Glasweigans? Il tell u what's happened, We have been put at the BOTTOM of the priority list for these swines in the so called Scottish Parliament especialy the hypocritical SNP! Scottish Nationalists my arse! Real one's would be putting us FIRST not last!
Speaking as an extremely good looking and fanciable man i think your being rather sexist with that remark - Im quite sure it would be equally as unsafe for me if you dont mind me pointing that out to you
@@williamf4544 i'm going to pump you william lol, but really have you heard these people? they are all spouting fears and rumours like wee sweety wifes, everyone of them has heard one tail or another from someone else in their lodge and sure as shit they have become an activist for womens safety all over the country, oh wait a minute i got that wrong not everywhere just govanhill.
This didn't look even close to the worst street in glasgow, you go on about "them" dropping litter and stuff but not one of you complained about the camera man spitting on the street did you?? yeah but you are not wacist are you? Well why don't you point out or make a list of the things you saw in this video that makes it the worst street, go on make a list and prove to me that it isn't the people that offend you. If you can't make a list of faults that justify your comments then you are wacist.
Hi keep it up you are doing a great job and having fun making some brilliant videos superstar Ali Walsall west midlands england junction 10 m6 Walsall churckery up the Glasgow 😊
