The NFL can’t really do this because there are far fewer games to be played. Some years, teams in the NFL have been accused of throwing their season for a good pick though.

They wanted a higher pick so they decide to tank again, next year they get the 4th, when they should've had the 1st. So then they tank again. Just give the tankers their pick they tanked for and call it a day.

Naw they should give the teams that barely missed the playoffs the high picks (9th, 10th, 11th seed) that way there will be no more tanking and they'll actually have to try
