Is this your MVP? Struggling to go past a 37 year old Al Horford. Settling for a fadeaway and air balling it.
This matchup produced the same results again, and again, as Embiid went 5 of 18 in a do or die game 7.
Not to mention last game where he didn’t even attempt a shot in the final 4 minutes as the Sixers choked away their shot to go to the conference finals.
Heck, he was my MVP as well and I can’t believe this epic downfall for him and for Philly overall. So let’s go deeper and expose everything.
The Celtics were comfortable leaving Horford on him and just occasionally sending a second guy not even to double, but just to be in the area to take a jab. And once again he delivered with some monster plays on defense.
So what did Embiid do in the postgame? Joel complained that he and Harden cannot win with this team.
This is the same exact way that he threw Ben Simmons under the bus.
Even tho he’s got a huge role in this loss.
First of all his production dropped from 33.1 points per game during the regular season to 23.7 in the playoffs. Almost a 10 point dropoff is by far the biggest by an MVP in NBA history.
For a guy that prides himself on dominating defenders, this is inexcusable.
I mentioned the end of game 6 debacle where he didn’t even attempt a shot for 4 minutes.
How can you blame the others for not supporting you when you didn’t even lead when it mattered the most.
For contrast Jayson Tatum stayed aggressive at the end despite having a miserable game shooting the ball.
Check this out. Tatum was 1 for 14 up to those final 4 minutes of the game where he took over and went 4 for 5 from downtown.
This actually reminded me of a game where Kobe Bryant refused to stop shooting and after going 2 for 20, 2 for 20 from the field, with his team down in the clutch he raises up for the shot that would give them the lead and ultimately the win.
So yeah, Embiid missed his opportunity last game and instead of defending himself and Harden, they are the ones that should actually take responsibility.
And Harden gave us the biggest flip flop series that I’ve ever seen from a player.
He was unstoppable in 2 of the games scoring 45 and 42, but at the same time in the other games he was 2/14, 3/14, 4/16 and finally a horrific 3 for 11 in the deciding game 7.
These are definitely his last days as a prolific player in the league and if he decides to opt out of his contract this summer, I have no idea which team would offer him a large chunk of money.
Another guy that definitely plays a big role in this loss is Doc Rivers.
I mean look at the spacing right here on this possession. Nobody moves, there’s no play, nothing going on. And Embiid is clearly going nowhere with this wall in front of him, and of course this ends as a turnover.
Rivers failed to adjust to Boston’s defense and once again loses a game 7 which is his 5th in a row.
5 straight games 7 losses and he’s got 10 overall.
Last time Doc as well threw Ben Simmons under the bus, then in the meantime just a few weeks ago he went on ESPN and put all the blame on the Clippers players during their time together saying that they were never going to win. Basically trying to avoid responsibility for those losses.
Well, after all that time, all these games and excuses, and yet another playoff failure I am not sure how Doc can avoid being fired especially after we saw that happen with much more successful coaches in recent years like Bud, Nick Nurse and Monty Williams.
Another early exit for Philadelphia and something tells me that there will be more drama with this roster in the offseason.
Who’s the most to blame for this? Let me know in the comments. Subscribe and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

My biggest issue with Embiid is that he dogged and put down Jokic whenever he could. It was weird to see a superstar so brazenly disrespect Jokic and have his personal coach rag on Jokic every chance he could on Twitter. A complete lack of class. He whined about his MVP while calling out Jokic for being poor defensively and not having accomplished anything in the playoffs. Ironic, he got destroyed in the pick and roll and has never made it out of the 2nd round. Jokic put on an all time great second round performance against the Suns who were favoured to come out of the West. Not only that, Jokic has been eclipsing his regular season totals so far these playoffs while through 2 rounds, Embiid had the largest ppg drop off from an MVP in the playoffs. Edit: Jokic just put up a historic performance against Lebron and AD in the WCF, including the clutch buckets to seal the series in game 4.

Really makes you appreciate Jokic more. It’s ironic given that most people said Jokic would be exposed as a poor pick and roll defender. It turns out Embiid would be exposed for his poor defense, as he was exposed in the pick and roll, allowing Jason Tatum to score prolifically. Additionally, Jokic, despite his lack of athleticism, is stronger than Embiid. Embiid takes these very soft midrange jumpers, while Jokic battles for deep post position to get easier baskets closer to the rim. Embiid really lobbied his way to an MVP. Kendrick Perkins made it about race, which is par for the course in today’s society. It’s disappointing, but I’m glad it happened so that maybe it doesn’t happen again.
@justinholland6132

I think the problem with embiid's defense is he commits and gets away with a ton of dirty plays. It works for him during the season, but in the playoffs the audience is exponentially larger and he can't get away with as many dirty plays. Kind of like how the NBA has neutralized CP3 the past couple of playoff seasons by locking down on his subtle tricks.
@mattiej2311
@mattiej2311 Год назад
I mean it’s just a bad roster structure/coaching adjustments. You have Jalen McDaniels and Danuel house on the bench, who would be way better guarding Tatum. The playoffs really is a coaching battle. You face the same team in a best of 7. At best you have 2 games to figure out your opponents, their go-to playmaker, the strengths/weaknesses of their defence especially given the players on the field. The players putting trust in the coach is supposed to lead to chemistry but if there are no adjustments all you can really have to say as a player is "I did what I can do (what coach drew up for me), I need help(another player that can cover my weaknesses;forgetting coach should be responsible for that)". Can't cry about no help when you had a regular season to find teammates that can satisfy what you want. The starting roster didn't deliver to their performances as they would on-paper. And this can be due to individual performance or an adjustment from Boston (horford on embiid, guarding him at the high post, etc.). Sucks that they lost like this. Embiid needs to move.

The more I watched Jokic play, the more I was convinced he was the real deal MVP. Its just that many people havent been able to see Jokic enough to really know how great he is. That is until now. They propped up Embiid and everybody else all year. Hence, so many people falling for the false narratives. The difference between Embiid and Jokic is that Embiid wants to be MVP. JOKIC IS THE MVP!!!

What RDC say, “After I get that MVP, I’m done fucking hooping.”

I don't know anything about the NBA. But if it works the same as some other sports competitions, then the playoffs matches each give the teams more time to study and prep for their specific component. Adapting to the playoffs when you are cut way less slack is it's own skill, but the ones who prove themselves in the playoffs are the real deal.

He only got the mvp because of being black. It is that simple. That is how woke the nba is.

Honestly I dont think its all embiid fault, at the beginning of the game he still forcing shoots even though its not money at all, it still gaves the 76ers confidence that embiid was trying and the rest of the team still plays hard. But after the 3rd quarter begins and boston gave them some heat and they havent responded it well, there was the mental things start to take a toll. Doc should have made adjustment there, instead he let boston runaway with the game. The rest of 76ers players at faults too, no one step up and should gave some lead to regain their confidence, they just let their star player making dumb plays and doomed their championship aspiration.

Embiid averaging 14pts on 25% shooting in 7 elimination games, Clearly you don't know the facts, Embiid is and always be a regular season player.

@@djkido316 Clearly you are the kind of nba fans that look things only from 1 side and ignore the others. I never said embiid is not at fault, but its not entirely his fault his team lose. In 76ers case they clearly have the team to go all the way to the finals, but they coaching staff and other player doesnt responded well to the challenge from the other team. Clearly the double big line up just took a toll on Embiid, there are some highlights in early game where Embiid gets frustrated by Al and Rob and ends up turning the ball over or forcing the bad shot, it's too much for him and he knows it. But this is a team game and when your star got in troubled its either the other player stepping up or the coach should have a back up gameplan.

What's sad is that this should have been Jokic's 3rd straight MVP and it was given to Embiid because of pity.

Remember that time when Philly signed Horford just to bench him so Embiid wouldn't have to face him on court when they go against Boston and don't even get me going on Embiid not playing in Denver since 2019. Every single time Embiid played in post season his game drops compared to regular season. Every single time Joker made in play-off he elevate his game, feel free to check it up...

I guess it's sixers FO to blame. They kinda made a lot of hasty decisions after getting rid of Ben Simmons

Hey, don't forget that Horford singlehandely beat the bucks in game 4 last year I think, he had 30 while shooting lights up and guarding Giannis well, at least for one game. Horford is a problem to every big

Perkins ruined the MVP race this year by bringing up racism. Was Embiid really the MVP or did he get the votes because he was black, did Jokić lose because he was white, We’re white voters scared to vote for Jokić because of white guilt, reparations, or fear of being called racist, we’re black voters scared of the backlash of voting for a white man or were white voters scared to vote for Jokić because of white guilt, reparations, or fear of being called a racist, We’ll never know because Perkins brought up racism instead of basketball. And Embiid is always gonna have an Asterix because of it, we’ll in my book at least. Shame on Perkins for tainting the MVP race
