Honestly I like the big A channel almost as much as the main channel. Just personal preference, prefer the topic choice here (though marketing Monday is my favorite)
I don't want tiktok to get banned because when its gone those users will come to youtube shorts and that shit will become even more hellish. Typing this out changed my mind I want the slop actually.
Just use the alternative that allows you to not see in your feed the shorts you dont want to see. I want to describe it further but doing so will get myself deleted from this thread lol. Just look it up. Reply advanced but without the ply and the ad
That's surprising, why do you think it is. I am Canadian so I would assume we are in a similar situation regarding housing prices and inflation like stripe said but there must be much more to the problem
4:43 The switching jobs earns more money... it is kinds true. But it is more because then there is negotiations. What people need to do is get negotiating every few years.
I think people know this already. The issue is that negotiating with the company you’re currently working at can be tough, and finding a different, potentially more desperate company, can help with leverage.
So would there end up being 2 versions of tiktok. A usa version with only people from the usa with there own custom algorithm and the rest of the world version of like European countries
The US Govt did the same thing with Grindr and it worked. Am sure there is no connection with content shared by US legislators on said platforms. Freedom isn’t free.
Does it have to be an American company they sell too? Can’t it just be any company owned by someone the USA is on good terms with. Like wouldn’t a Canadian or British company be ok?
I just have a really hard time thinking that the TikTok algorithm is particularly novel. I just dont think that itd be that hard to make our own. Edit: ok, itd be "hard", but not harder than software problems most tech companies already deal with
Nice weather (?) and scenery doesn't make the terrible economic and housing situation many people are facing here any better. It could definitely be worse for us in nz but still kind of insensitive comments
America is so free that a direct adversary can fight a legal battle against The US government in its own land. If the roles were switched here, this wouldn't have been even a small conversation at all.
So can the Chinese to learn about their own history but guess what? Almost nobody does because “trivial” inconveniences are enough to stop the vast majority of us. It’ll probably cause a death spiral on English speaking content. Declining audience -> declining content -> declining audience -> …
Tbh as a Brit, yeah this countrys doing badly but I feel like there has been this wave of content that has made it out to be like we are as bad as Angola or sth. In every problem we have (which we have many, and a lot are quite bad), I feel that we are not too behind in other countries, but we are also wayyyyy ahead of America. Crime, poverty, stagnant wages, education, AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE, corruption and a vibrant political sphere. All bad, but much worse across the pond
Your water is a poo slurry and your schools are collapsing on top of students. You're replacing doctors with robots and call center employees. You worship a family of eldritch liches as deities as they turn into black goo under the sun light. You've had 4 prime ministers in a year and you refuse to allow your trains to operate. All of your politicians are too busy going to sex parties to actually govern and every party has the same exact austerity policies. Multiple economic sectors can only operate through a comically abusive visa system that is going to be abolished by racists anyway. Also your food is bad.
This literally isnt true tho The US has far better wage growth than the UK. The UK economy has not grown much at all since covid, despite a sizeable population increase. The US has grown significantly. The UK used to be the 2nd richest large country (10 years ago) in EU per capita, its now 4th, coming up on 5th. British crime rate isnt much different from the US, but the UK crime rate has a worse trend. Outside of London, the UK is incredibly poor. Its genuinely shocking how bad its gotten. Poorer than the USs poorest state (Mississippi) Im from NZ, and its poorer than any region here per capita. Its sad.
I think big A is overestimating the value of the TikTok algorithm. Any company can make a video recommendation algorithm with a very very small fraction of what TikTok would be sold for. TikTok is worth so much mostly because of the user base and existing data, not the algorithm or technical infrastructure (although those help).
I think the theory is that no other video platform (not even the short-form ones specifially emulating TikTok) have achieved the level of retention TikTok has, and since it's not like TikTok has a specific creator or feature that keeps people using it, it *must* be something about the way the algorithm tailors your recommendations that's extremely good at keeping people scrolling. That's what makes it valuable in the eyes of the competition, not just that it recommends videos onto itself.
@@notsuchabadguy they might have the best algorithm at this point, but I’m saying the existing user base and brand is the more valuable side of the business, by a lot. If another company could choose the user base or the algorithm to have today, they would all take the user base.
@@notsuchabadguy You do raise a good point though that the algo is better there. I also just wonder why the CCP would care so much about the algorithm and not the reach/data as it seems to me like Big A is implying
@@TheGoated1ne the only worthwhile thing about your country is that the people are so meritless their labor is cheaper than inanimate machines; leading to your entire country going from a European dominated colony into a CCP dominated neocolonial resource cash cow gender politics wont change any of that
if i was in charge at ticktock, id go full attack mode, find out which countries are not "adversaries" according to that law, go create a puppet company there and sell US part of tiktok to that company... a little fuck you to regulators
Everyone won't. Some people will though. It's been proven many times that making things even slightly inconvenient lowers usage by a lot. Also, if tik Tok is illegal then American creators won't be able to make content even over a VPN...
@@depalodor massive security risks. China has back doors into its homegrown apps and software. They are prolific cyberwarfare specialists. Constantly scanning your face and tracking your location with videos. Accessing microphones, etc. Yes, other governments can do it but most of the time, your own government isn’t a hostile foreign power.
@@depalodor mainly data safety and as ccp is adversary to US they should be taken with same altitude in EU most EU members are NATO members article 5 and all that... also they could use propaganda as "weapon" even in case EU just sanction them
@@AtriocClips You were visiting as a tourist. I live here. There's a difference. I'm sure you didn't see any of the poorer places in New Zealand on your holiday.
@@papermoonshine I agree, he shouldn't. But immediately after saying he won't he decides he actually can educate his audience, and says that the only bad problems we have are universal issues like the housing crisis and everything is fine otherwise. That isn't true, I know it isn't because I see homeless people every day and I've seen families get ripped apart by drugs and alcohol.
This could unironically be a determining factor in Biden losing the election. But that's not absolutely certain because DT isn't exactly popular with the TikTok userbase either
@@Hudelf I wouldn't underestimate tiktok's ability to unify and rally people. Nor would I underestimate Gen Z's involvement in something as big as a presidential election. And young people aren't the only people on tik tok. Ofc I'm not saying they're all going to vote red, but there could be users who were on the fence about Biden and this could cost him votes, while DT's ever-obedient worshippers will be out in droves to vote for him. It helps that it can be reestablished in the US rather than outright banned, but the tiktok users aint gon like this one
@@Hudelfyoung people generally vote dem. Recently young white men have been starting to lean uncharacteristically conservative, and a lot of that comes down to social media. You might be surprised at the amount of misinformation that goes out around this targeting that demo in the coming months.
