Underlab Well, Mother had *two* sequels, and Undertale do pay homage (and saterize) Earthbound, A.K.A. Mother 2, so maybe we'll not only get Undertale 2, but also Undertale 3.

Didn't Toby also make a tweet some years back alluding to the existence of a "better" ending? Something to the effect of it not being achievable due to a certain machine being broken, and there being at present nobody around capable of repairing it?
This is important. If the true Final Ending isn't available currently, then it's possible that the re-release will have additional DLC ITF, resolving all remaining plotholes.
I mean, one of sans dialogue has something along the lines of that. When you get an error message, he does say " If it's a novel situation, they might add another ending". But then again, I'm not exactly sure.
@@ChopperGlazer no it really isn't. Name wise and story wise. If it was undertale 2 then like we would probably have like 3 different story possibilities 1. You play as one of the past kids that's fell into the underground 2. You play as chara 3. It takes place a few years after the pacifist route and you play as an older frisk Deltarune is a whole different universe. Mettaton is not a robot. Undyne and alphys don't know each other. Its like a what if universe or a spinoff
I just realized something that happens during the epilogue. When it shows all the monsters you fought, it never shows Jerry. *Spoilers!* Asriel never turns back into a flower, no matter how many times you visit him (except for when you open up the game again after the epilogue). What if Asriel kept Jerry's soul, and lied about turning back into a flower?

One one side, I would love a Undertale 2. Undertale is probably the best game I have ever played and who doesn't want it to continue? Who doesn't want to know all the secrets that are still lef to discover? On the other hand, I don't want it to happen. I feel like Undertale is completed the way it is and that the secrets and theories should stay secrets and theories. I honestly don't think it is going to happen and I honestly would prefer a tv series/movie/comic about Undertale more than a second game.
I’d like to mention the thing about asriel lying about turning back into a flower After you finish the pacifist ending, close the game and open it back up, flowey will tell you to leave things as they are, and that he couldn’t go through everything again. Need I say more?
I'd like to see a prequel with the backstories of the main characters, especially with Asriel and Chara's backstory, and definitely Sans and Papyrus's, as it's at least likely that thier backstory ties into GASTER. Maybe seeing Flowey's transition from newly transformed flower into the psychotic maniac? There's a lot of backstories that could be covered.
I think undertale's story is completely finished. But I still hope that there will be more games from Toby ^^ Btw that was a great video (just like usual ^^)

This is random but, I think its kind of odd that in the true pacifist run, the main monsters are just staring into the sun. Wouldn't that hurt their eyes?

Do I think there should be an Undertale 2? Yes and no. While I'd totally play it if it was made, I personally want to see Toby make a completely new game that could top Undertale and be even more amazing.
I don't think anything will ever top Undertale for me. I mean, I'll probably like anything Toby'll make but I don't know if it will surpass UT. But I could be wrong :3
DarkAvzonian Gaming i could see a sequel where in the beginning of the game it asks u what route u wanna play a sequel to. It would only give u two options though since Chara destroys everything in genocide. If u choose Neutral path, u play as Frisk on the surface but without monsters. If u choose pacifist u play as Frisk with monsters on the surface
Samuel Fishman uhm of course Genocide route is canon bc Toby Fox programmed it lol. it wouldn't be canon if a fan made it, but since it was made straight from the source, it's canon. but ur right about it being a bad ending since it's an rpg where no one has to die and right about it being a route where u erase everything and it forces u to reset :)
It could be some manner of sequel. Flowey/Asriel left some loose ends, and an expanded explanation of the setting. The prequel could do the same thing as the latter, but do nothing with the former. I think tying Gaster in would let the next game be both a Sequel and a Prequel if another game is really on the way. Or just a hard mode that brings so much new content it's a new game.
As depressing as it would be, I would like to see a sequel where you play as Flowey just as he wakes up, and we explore the underground as he becomes lonelier and more depressed and the game ends with him seeing Frisk coming towards him
MissConstruct I think that isn't what Toby would do, as the entire point of Flowey was to have him as an allegory for the player: someone who just wants to know everything and doesn't have any attachment to the characters in the story.
RetroBoy 03 Not quite, Flowey cant leave the game anytime he wants to go back to the real world like the player he is forced to keep playing and cant do a genocide route because Sans rekts him.
Tbh I don't really want a sequel to Undertale. I think it is perfect as a single game, it doesn't need a sequel. Possibly a prequel. That would be more fitting but I still think it should stay as a stand alone game. I mean there are many unsolved mysteries to Undertale such as character backstories and Gaster that could be answered in a prequel. But it would be cool to see a whole new game from Toby. While I don't believe anything will ever surpass UT for me, I bet Toby could definitely surprise everyone ouo
In all honesty, do we really need another game in the franchise? I think I'm happy with just one game, and I think Toby might be as well. However a completely new game by Toby might be interesting.
short answer: No long answer: we got something better in a way. not a sequel, not a prequel, not something that directly affects Undertale and is it's own universe completely separate. and yet it has all of our favorite characters, with the same spirit and humor we know and love from Undertale, and with an expansion on the mysteries and lore we've been speculating and theorizing about. honestly i used to think i wanted Undertale 2, but now i feel fully satisfied to leave Undertale as it is. we will be getting the answers we seek in Deltarune. already we have been introduced to new concepts and ideas to pick apart, like the fountains, Lightners and Darkners, the Knight, the nature of the Red Soul (which very few people actually questioned before i think). in a way Deltarune seems like the "Majora's Mask" of Undertale. familiar characters and themes but a completely different story and world. in my opinion now, Undertale wrapped up nicely, now its time to welcome a new story. i have theories on how Undertale may have been a result of alternate future events in Deltarune while Deltarune has no effect on Undertale. but i won't go into details here. I'll just say that it seems like Undertale referenced Deltarune's world quite a lot. so while i believe that it is true, Deltarune has nothing to do with Undertale, i feel like Deltarune will end up explaining a lot of things in Undertale without actually touching that story. Toby is clever and like's to surprise us, i feel this is something he would do.
Gote the Capricorn Fucktard I don't think it will be better than Undertale. The main problem I have with it is the pace and some characters. The demo felt a bit too quick and the wizard isn't really memorable, I even forgot his freaking name, while Flowey and Toriel are extremely memorable and have a lasting impact on the player.

It would be more adecuate if they created a prequel (in my opinion) many things happened before Frisk had fallen into the underground are there are many people that does not understand that completely...
Actually Toby Fox posted a comment on his main account, saying that he knows what the UT fans has done with his game, and he feel disappointed with that. And thats sad: i actually would like to see another of his jobs
I don't think Undertale could be wrapped up any better than it already is. The mysteries in Undertale are just fine the way they are. The underwhelming star wars prequels are evidence that some mysteries should not be solved. In the original trilogy the Force is a mystical space magic, but in the Phantom Menace the Force is explained as just some kind of micro-organism called Midichlorians. This took away a certain charm that the Force had, so much so that people are eager to ignore or forget about Midichlorians. If every mystery in Undertale were explained in an Undertale 2 I don't think it would keep our attention as it has all this time. Although Undertale 2 could be really fun I'm hesitant whether it would be a good idea because Undertale was so neatly finished. (Whatever Toby decides, I will be happy) tldr; We don't need Undertale 2 because the first was so tidy.
If there is a sequel, I want it to bring more mystery. More theory. The open ends are what leave the fandom alive, speculating, recreating, etc, and without it the fandom would die off since there'd be nothing new, no new ideas because everything is answered. I also hope he takes a different approach in the style of the game. He mentioned 3D modeling, there could be alot of new ways to show the game than the original sprite-and-text.
Im currently reading a fanfiction, which acts like a sequel to Undertale but there was another book in the series that explained Sans and Gaster, and it does a really good job at wrapping everything up. Its not finshed yet, but the First book is called The Time Before on wattpad. Nice long completed book with a prequel and sequel.
Hate to be the one to burst the hype bubble, but Toby did he say he wasn't planning on making a sequel. And his tweets about a secret project might be referring to the Homestuck game recently (sort of) released.

but how would it exist if there are multiple endings, pacifist, genocide, and pacifist. Toby would have to pick genocide or pacifist for the sequel. Most likely pacifist, but what about genocide? Undertale 2 might be a sequel of the pacifist ending where you could do a genocide or pacifist ending in my theory.
An interesting fan thingy that makes sense of a lot of things is glitchtale. It isn't animated super well at first, but it has a very interesting storyline.

Honestly, if we are being technical here, "Undertale" was telling a Story about when the Monsters were "Underground". since now they are out of the Underground (for the most part...) they are now on the Surface, Making themselves a part of Humanity. So maybe its not gonna be an "Undertale 2" Title or maybe not even "2" will be present. More rather it may be called a bit like... Overtale After the Tale or maybe even Monstertale? i'm just putting a few (yet a bit simple) Ideas out there. As a Plot View of mine i suppose maybe Gaster was Freed from the "Void" since the Barrier was broken and has laid low, stealing Human SOULS and slow, Slower, Yet Slower (yes bad puns? Got em.) gaining power, and has plans for vengeance on all of Humanity for putting such suffering on Monster Kind, and maybe even a twist of events, Gaster wants to steal Human SOULS and give at least ONE SOUL to every monster so that they may join Gaster in the fray of battle and have a much better chance of fighting Humans, and thus, more Human SOULS. And yet, Maybe even worse? Chara, and Flowey (Or Asriel May even come back?) are back and will be a Double Threat duo, and with the likely event of Human SOULS all around in the Sequel, Omega Flowey or True Asriel May come back, or worse... Chara may get some SOULS, and what happens after all that? Who knows. What do you think might happen if there is a Sequel or Prequel? Whats your ideas? Let Underlab know!

Hmm, "Undertale 2" sounds like a pretty boring and lazy name. I'd think that if Toby made an "Undertale 2", he'd name it something a bit more creative, such as "Undertale: Stay determined!", or "Undertale: Above the Underground"
If he did make a Undertale 2 think it could either be something explaining Gaster, what they did after they left the underground, or something above it Adriel or something like those
