The first camcorder I used for skateboarding videos was a RCA VHS-C camcorder with a fisheye lens that I bought back in 2020, I still use it till this day and absolutely love it
Interesting input. I use both VHS and VHS-C, so I can do either one. I actually got a Panasonic branded VHS-C camcorder a while ago. Panasonic Palmcorder PV-IQ305. Manufactured April 1995.
I have a professional camcorder, but I really enjoy watching these videos you make. Not fast paced, or slow and boring - these videos have so much information, and the camera tests are very nice. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I really appreciate it! 😁
Hey I’m glad you enjoy the content 😊 I try my best to not make it slow and boring. And that’s what these old retro camcorders are all about. They are fun to work se for b-roll or just fun little montage videos. There is an element to them that you just don’t get with modern dslr cameras
Very neat videos here, checking them out. Is there a way to find out which panasonic lenses are compatible with this camcorder? I have been digging around but not obvious which ones work with it.
Well if you are looking to use dslr/mirrorless lenses you can’t since this is a camcorder. You can use filter style lenses that screw on the front like wide angles, fisheyes and telephoto lenses
I suspect that motion detector is set to work automatically, so its detecting motion, starts recording and then stops when there's no motion for set amount of time.
going to mount my 58mm mount opteka lens via adapter. i want to film skateboarding with it though. will it physically not be able to mount even with the adapter?
I don’t think it will. I’m pretty sure I tried it with my 58mm and it didn’t work. But the 37mm I have worked. So I recommend getting a 37mm or a 43mm. Those are the same sized fisheye just different sized threads. And since they are smaller than the 58mm you will have a much wider field of view. Since this camera has a 49mm lens thread if you put a bigger fisheye on it will look more like a wide angle than a fisheye. Hey I had a question if you don’t mind answering. So I have the exact camcorder and I am trying to watch back my recording on the screen and I can was some I’ve seen but then it doesn’t show up anymore. Is it because I didn’t remove all the slack or would it be the camcorder ?
do you have any good recommendations for any best places that would have cheap camcorders/lower priced ones that are still solid? on a budget, but i can’t seem to find any solid ones. just want to film some videos with it because i think it would be cool with the vintage look.
I mean honestly the best places in my opinion to look would be eBay, Mercari, facebook marketplace, or goodwillfinds.com. Most of the time if they’re confirmed to be in working condition they will be more expensive
