Hey Brandon, have you ever tried using Atomos Ninja V for an HDV camcorder, like the Sony HVR-Z5U?? Overkill I know...but it's the recorder I already own to use with my Mirrorless and PS5... But I am trying to use it to digitize footage using my Z5U and as soon as I connect, it keeps going back and forth from OK to "No Input". Has the same issue in Camera mode or VCR mode. I thought it was the HDMI port on the camera so I wasted $25 bucks buying one from ebay and switched it out. Is there possibly some "Copyright protection" on my camera? Or other camera issue? Is it possibly just the Ninja V isn't capable of capturing this footage? It's weird because it recognizes the Sony model and it says 1080i60?? Do I need a special HDMI? The HDMI I used works fine for my Canon in 4K to the Ninja. And the HDMI cable also worked to connect the Z5U to output to my TV and computer monitor...I don't mind spending money if a clearclick or other recorder will solve my problem. But don't want to throw it at the wall for no result...I'd like to transfer old footage plus record new footage with this camera. Thank you!!!

I don’t really know much about the ninja. But if it’s not recognizing your camera you could try another method. You can buy a HDMI to USB capture card and connect your camera to your computer. Then go into your webcam app and your computer should recognize you have a camera connected to it. You should be able to switch from the webcam to your USB source. You can put your camera in playback mode and play the video and hit record on your computer and it should record your footage that way. Now I haven’t tried this method with a camcorder but I do use this method with a VCR/DVD player that has a HDMI out. So that should work and the HDMI to USB capture card should only cost you about $20

I'm running into an issue with not this product but it's the Clearclick video 2 Digital 2.0. I have a PV-D209 (which only has an AV out) and every tape I try to convert has this jerky/glitchy effect when I try to convert it to HDMI. It runs fine on the camcorder playback but when I try to rip it it's all glitchy. Any suggestions? Love the channel by the way!

Yeah that’s weird I’ve had that happen with the clearclick 3.0 but not the 2.0 but I’m thinking they just have issues with certain camcorders. But I have yet to figure that one out. Maybe shoot clearclick an email about the issue. They are usually really good about helping out with problems.

This device doesn't work at all for me. Your video seems to glaze over the part about configuring a driver...you just plugged it in and it just magically works in clunky, junky a$$ OBS. I hate obs btw it is a headache to use and the interface is confusing. The question is, in windows do you have to install a driver to get this hardware to detect in OBS with windows 10?? The device does not show up on my machine at all. Tried it on my imac, same problem.
