Nothing heals the soul like a good haircut to boost your confidence and self worth, a good barber can be a healer in your darkest hours. I absolutely respect this craft!
A lot of us, black men in particular do not realize what we have to do to make our own hair look nice because it is considered feminine to care about your appearance if you spend too much money on your hair or skincare. We have to care for ourselves inside and out. Glad the brotha took the time to care for himself and the barber is looking out for his client.
Exactly! Something as simple as shaving our armpits or using wipes are considered feminine. F what they think! When I look good, I feel great, I walk into every room like I'm about to take everybody's wives. Lol! In all seriousness, people will treat you based on your appearance and how you carry yourself.
@@International-BlackMan The women love the results of the self-care. They just do not care for the process. I get compliments on the feel of my skin, hands, feet, hair, and beard. They ask what it is that I do and I explain my routine and regimen. I discuss the products that I use and why. They then look at me and say things akin to "You are doing too much," or "I can't have a man with a better routine than mine," or "Any man that spends more time on himself than I do, I cannot deal with." One woman thought I had chick because my hair dryer was still out from when I deep conditioned my hair. I work a blue-collar job and workout. My body is constantly in the elements and needs to be taken care of. Self-care is essential for all, not just women.
I hate that some of yall feel this way. I’m a barber and I’ve been cutting for 7+ years (all races) and I can tell you I absolutely love when a man keeps himself groomed. I like when men smell good and keep themselves up. I don’t know why it has such a negative connotation. I work in an only men’s spa/barbershop and its very common for men to get pedis/manis etc. Dont let the negative talk stop you. And a tip for waves to POP: 1. wash your hair thoroughly (for healthy scalp and products afterwards will work better) 2. Make sure your hair is DRENCHED and use a shampoo brush to form waves 3. Rinse thoroughly and pat your head dry, dont rub 4. I like to use a thick pomade or paste (a little goes a long way) take like a fingernail size amount, rub it in your palms really good and evenly distribute, brush with a boar bristle(rough side THEN soft side), add a dab of your fav oil and evenly distribute(oil not necessary if you use a shiny pomade), durag and let it set for a while✨ If your hair is on the longer side, I would stick with the foam.
@@nae6735 You are appreciated! My little niece hugged me and told me that smelled yummy. I was trying out a natural citrus soap that went very well with my cologne.
@@rufushughes4331 yesssss!!! Seriously don’t listen to girls like that. I can tell you, women like it. I work with all female barbers and let me tell you we ALL like a well groomed man. Nobody wants to smell or see the problems that come with unhygienic ppl lol.
I find that hair growth pattern extremely interesting. I had no idea hair could grow so close to the ears as well as underneath it like that, almost wrapping around the entire head.
Love the genuineness of these cuts. Showing the client that this is more than just a haircut but its an experience and journey for the client to love their hair. Dope Video Fonz
I love seeing such a caring helpful barber who passionately tends to his customer. This is what the art of barbering is all about. Amazing transformation. Much love & respect.
This is video is hands down a experience , that you don’t normally see with barber videos. The music choices you choose built intensity at the right moments. Keep in mind this video is 3months in the making. Watching the clients reaction with the waves at the end was dope. Great video man my favorite RU-vidr. Lol when you make a video I make sure I’m eating something good, that’s how good they are.
Wow bro thank you for those words. I’m so into making content that is more so unpredictable you know? I feel that most channels go for the whole “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it format.” I personally don’t get any excitement out of that which is why I try knew things like this.
I pray we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus Christ for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand love your enemies and forgive others just as God can forgive you spread peace and be blessed amen.
I’ve always thought the wave look is really cool but I was totally ignorant about how much care and time it takes (2C hair here). Thanks for posting this. It’s not meant for me but it helps me appreciate how much effort it takes to style different kinds of hair
This is one of the most beautiful and complex things I have ever seen. I had no idea the work, effort and time that goes into this look! I had no idea that a durag was actually for doing this. Been schooled this evening!!
Serious question because I never even considered it for most of my life... But what do non-black people usually "think" durags are for? 🤔 I've heard _way too many_ say they had "no idea" they're for our hair lmao I asked a friend who's pretty country and he said he literally thought it was essentially "thug culture" equating it to set flags before he learned what they actually are 😭💀
Thanks Vargas. Cutting hair without a doubt is an art and so is making videos. Both can also be a drag from the constant cut and repeat phases. I guess it’s all about perspective and passion that separates the ones that keep testing limits from the ones that don’t.
As a 360 waver, this was awesome to watch. Very relaxing. You should offer this service. Only one thing.. I wish you helped him with his crown. Other than that, I wish my barber did this.
Thanks bro I appreciate that. The reason I didn’t stress doing too much for the crown is because the pattern around it matters more. One the pattern around it is fully developed then we can go for the Crown. The crown a takes a whole brush session by itself. That’s advice Jeezy gave me a long time ago.
I am glad you commented on the crown; was that a sore due to Duragesic wrapped too tight? I heard another barber diagnose sore above nape of waver neck due to Duragesic tied too tight. Aedin
Hey Fonz, I just found your videos 2 months ago. Your content is wholesome, chill, positive, relaxing so many things. I didn’t know barbers experienced so much. And that the community is so widespread. Salutes to you from NC.
I’ve been cutting myself bald with clippers for 3 years now. Don’t know how I got here but even my confidence went up after seeing that cut! All I need is a full month, hopefully no bald spots and some treatment for what I’m sure is a slightly receding hairline 😂. All jokes aside that’s fire cut, great barber and great customer. I miss sitting in that chair sometimes.
This is a good service for someone new to waves or trying to get back to it after a long time. If you choose to offer it just make sure it's not taking up too much of your schedule. It's a pretty intimate experience and time consuming. Also, no matter the price, it's not something you wanna be doing all the time.
MAAAAANE!!!!! You a real one for this one. I just cut my hair (Braids) for the first time in 18 years and I'm 3 months into my wave journey. This was art 🎨 keep up the good work! 👑 👍🏿
Well In his defense I will say that he was going through a tough season in his life which I can 💯 percent relate to. The haircut was a symbol of him getting over it.
I was thinking he must be fresh out the Penn and I do not look down on incarcerated people I have a heart for that population as well as the homeless...anyway happy he has a new start and the look to go with it...when you look good you feel good.
this was epic, to show how you started with the new look/cut and then to do a follow up ! More barbers will start to do this now. You are a trend setter
You should absolutely offer this as a service. Event if a client only gets it once, you're basically showing them how to wash their waves. Barber's are a Godsend
I’m from the UK & gotta appreciate barbers and hair stylists that treasure making sure their customers enjoy their look; I’d definitely pay for this service and it’s making me wanna get 360 waves fosho !
Sulfur 8 grease, they even have a light one, helps with scalp issues. If he's getting welts like that he likely has a sensitive scalp that's a form of psoriasis. Products that leave build up or leave the scalp too moist (even doing things like putting a rag on wet (even wet from sweat or washing) hair and not drying it immediately) inflame the scalp and cause the welts.
I had the similar thing when I used to wave. I know we are usually told not to, but he needs to wash and style everyday/two days with a light cowash (also making sure to dry the hair immediately with a blowdryer etc). Additionally, he need to change his durag everyday, to reduce the chance of bacteria having the environment to grow. Some of us have more sensitive scalps, and need more maintenance. Good luck to the brother🌊
That was dope as hell never seen a barber do anything like this I would definitely fly out to your shop and get a cut from you this looks absolutely phenomenal
Loved this!! You really gave this customer and experience! He will never forget this or you. Yes, you definitely should add this service! Star stellarrrrr!!!
WOW! I'm impressed... You are a true artist. Your process is so therapeutic to watch. I'm a female and wish ALL stylist would treat and offer the service you provide your customers!! 💖🔥
Man all I can see is none of this would be possible without my clients being even more patient than me. Sometimes these videos take longer than a normal service and it’s not easy doing all by myself but I’m forever grateful.
Are you in NY my guy? Been trying to find a barber that truly love they job like this. I have no problem paying you well, it's the skills and that actual care you show. Respect
The relaxation after the hot towel comes off is great to see. Men are usually taught they're not allowed enjoyable experiences like this and it needs to change, everyone needs regular pampering
Bro fr your best work(the video, cut is also lit), this was something else. I don´t usually comment on your stuff but this made me go out of my way to come down here and tell you that. You out-talented yourself, and I would be happy to see more of this format.
Damn fam that means a lot to know that the video impacted you enough to let me know I should do it more often. I might not use this format all the time but I for sure will use it again.
You gave him a wash n style this made me happy to watch as a waver. Being consistent is pretty hard when you want to have great waves and a helping hand from yo barber every now and again would be great id pay for it. Also use a plastic bag instead of just your hand next time to lay down his waves
First time watching, 👍🏾🙌🏾 hands up to you sir!!! From a biz standpoint, it’s always good to offer something the others don’t want to or can’t offer. And you have proof of your work here. Also, if us guys can pay 200+ for our wives, or just women, to get their hair done all types of ways that they can’t keep up with long term…., I’d pay for your “360 Starter Service”. On everything!!!
I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now, you're so entertaining dude! And mad talented with your craft! Hope the success continues for you! 😊🔥🔥
Tangled can be managed by: combing/picking often with moisturizers (oils such as StaSoftFro, Cantu Creme (coconut oil creme best imo), or anything that hydrates 4C hair exceptionally well. The longer you go w/o maintaining, the harder it takes to untangle before it has to be trimmed or worse, cut too short. If y'all want to rock afros, you HAVE to maintain it daily. I know this guy would be able to rock a great afro only if he maintained it well. That cut was top notch until I saw flakes coming 🤦🏾♂️ He did not moisturize regularly. Waves takes TONS of work cuz he'll have to brush daily and keep his hair greased up well.
I love the feedback in this comment. Thanks for sharing and as far as his wave journey I agree it takes way more work to maintain them but I feel he doing better with that look than when he had long hair.
Dude went from farm fresh to just FRESH. Plus he's a hairy little nugget so he reminds me of my baby brother. Made me smile when he was so thrilled by both the initial cut and follow up care.
The Neistat brothers influenced me so much but you already knew that lol. This video was just me testing the water to see how people would react to it. It’s looking good so far.
Jojoba oil will take care of those flakes, and also not waiting weeks in between washes. Jojoba oil though is the goat at removing the flakes, even from seborrhea, it cured mines altogether. I had tried meds and shampoos from dermatologist for years but, after about two treatments with organic jojoba oil I never had that problem again. I’ve been missing you man and would like to see more content from you. You’re a good barber and this was another nice transformation. ❤
Always great videos. A piece of wisdom to pass on to clients is that a damp scalp for long periods of time will cause dandruff. Hats, caps, and dreads will hold moisture on the scalp.
Yo Fonzz!! This is dope ass content man, really changing the game and setting a high standard for us barbers when it comes to the youtube content. Mashallah brother.
my tip for the dry spots is head and shoulder the almond one, wash once a week it will tone down the flakes as you flake when your scale is dry just needs a bit of moisture is all
Fonzz I definitely think you should add Wash and Styles as a service. That's a great idea. Especially for those who are beginners at waving. It can give them a foundation to build upon.
Great job, you really killed it with the cut. Also props to the client for keeping up with the daily process. If you were to introduce that service, it would have to be a premium/ special that would have to be priced on the higher side. It seems to take a lot of time and effort but the results are great. You just dont want that to encroach your normal revenue generating methods and take away from them.
Great job…as a waver incorporate combing the hair before brushing before doing the durag and final rinse. It helps with forks connecting and fills those gaps up.
Really good video but can you keep the captions up longer? It was hard reading it all without hitting pause. You have great barbering skills and went beyond what barbers normally are willing to do.
This is the only video that I have not watched in 2x speed & just in normal speed in quite a bit of time just to absorb the ambiance created by the classical music & to focus on not missing out on reading the captions for what you would usually just do voiceovers as- impeccable way to keep the audience zoned in… until the caption stopped & I’m back to 2x speed, so I only played it regular speed for the first 2 mins 😂 That guy had the look of he really couldn’t believe his waves looked good!
🤣 dawg I did that knowing it would slow you down bro. P.S. Renzo is going crazy with his new clippers right now. It sounds like a freaking barbershop in my house 😆💈
