Excellent analysis. This was my own experience. I'm 68 years old and came off thyroid hormone during lockdown due to pains in wrists and hands , insomnia and anxiety while on the meds. The md (who is very busy) would prescribe only on 6 monthly TSH and was not open to discussion. (It waivered between 5 and 12 before meds). I recently had my levels tested privately and they were lower than when on the thyroxine and well in the normal ranges now for all, including antibodies. I believe that some people may need hormone supplementation, but others may be taking it unnecessarily.

What about T4 T3 R T3? If all you’re addressing is TSH that’s a warning to run for thyroid patients

Great question. I really encourage you to watch the episode I have coming out Monday. It's an interview with Dr. Antonio Bianco (doctor, author, and previous president of the American Thyroid Association) and we talk about this. :)

I am so appreciative of you and your work. I'm currently trying to wean off meds and started slow. After 2 months normal T4 and T3 but slightly elevated TSH 6.79. TPO antibodies slightly elevated 17.2. At this point I'm confused as to weather I should continue weaning off. I understand you cannot tell me what I should fo but I was hoping for some guidance because most physicians will want to keep me on meds. Thanks and bless you for what you do.
@DrRuscioDC
@DrRuscioDC Год назад
So you're right, I can't give you medical advice. But what I will say is 6.79 is a relatively normal range. Between 5-10 are levels that will typically resolve without hormone. I'd be more interested in how you feel symptomatically. If you feel good, then you're probably on a good track!

Yea i did a thyroid panel just the for the hell of it. I get my own blood work. Tsh 2.0 Free t4 1.31 Free t3 3.0 TPO 30 Nothing worried me except my damn tpo being 30 I done so much research and its all saying its not good to have it at 30, it needs to be almost nonexistent. So ive been stressed. But then i came across your stuff on google and it says any tpo under 500 is low risk. I sure hope this is correct

My TPO went from 23 to 67 in one year. How is under 500 controlled when the lab says anything above 35 is high?

My thyroid is in the severe range 29.4. But I was on carnivore/keto for 2 years, didn't eat fruit and vegetables and destroyed my gut. (also I was in a room next to a leaky shower with mold all over the wall. I didn't get sunlight & I was severely stressed - further destroyed my gut) I tested my thyroid 5 months ago and it was normal. Only in the past month have I transitioned to probiotics, fermented foods, fiber, fruit and vegetables, oats with apples and flaxseed and chia & lean meats, no dairy or gluten, I'm getting sunlight and not stressed and my gut is going crazy during the transition. Bowel movements 3/4 times a day. But feeling less sluggish, less fatigue, less brain fog. I want to give myself time to heal my gut before I take medication for my thyroid because I feel like I'm starting to feel better with this diet and lifestyle change but I'm only 1 month in. Could this gut thing be the reason for my abnormal thyroid?

@@arnoldfrackenmeyer8157 Do you have hashimotos? I have found out I have antibodies but my T4 is fine so i'm not taking the meds because what is the point if it elevates the T4. I'm going to run some more tests. I have a suspicion my triple strength 96 billion CFU with 15 strains of bacteria probiotic caused thyroiditis because there's was a strain in it that is the same culprit for thyroiditis when i google it but not sure if antibodies correlate with this issue but I will ask my doctor. I have leaky gut and low white blood cells making me more compromised...also been detoxing metals and having a crazy amount of cilantro & spirulina and lemon which ppl say can dump metals in your thyroid. Just find this situation weird because I feel the best i've felt in 2 years.

Are you also going to do a video on hyper thyroid, Graves disease? Question about this is I have hyperthyroidism and I take selenium, is this not good? For me it is a birth defect because my mother took thyroid medication during the first two months of pregnancy, my complaints that were not too bad were never taken seriously and it was only discovered when I was 63 now 3 1/2 years ago and it turned out to be also thyroid cancer having metastases to the glands. I had already felt it in 2011, but due to circumstances I did not go to the doctor with it. By now I had a TSH 0.0005 T4 and T3 were pretty normal then. My T3 is now 28, T4 normal, but I think that's because of a stressful period. Go get it tested again in a few months. For the time being I have decided not to have surgery because of all the consequences that entails. Plus, I've seen the stats on the survival rate, 75% 5 years and beyond, it's not tracked. Since I've known for 12 years that I have it and live a pretty normal life for me. Yes I can't stand the heat provided I walk with my feet in the water and I always have a bit of an excited feeling some skin problems and sports are out of the question because my heart is racing and I don't perspire very much, but I can walk and cycle . The fatigue that many people experience as problematic, I have also had to deal with that, you just have to put one leg over the other and then you will get there, after all, there is nothing wrong with your muscles. Because I've known that all my life I have no problem with this on the contrary, it has strengthened me to deal with problems in life. It's a strange story and didn't want to keep it from you, knowledge takes us further. I have gained a lot of knowledge on French, German and Dutch thyroid forums where people tell their stories, often under the guidance of experts who explain the treatments available and the drug problems. So I know what the consequences can be of the messy heavy surgery and that it should definitely be performed by an expert, I say this to inform others. For example, my current GP doesn't know this and referred me to the local hospital where I don't think there is an expert in this area as it is a fairly rare operation.

⭐️ Here is something you can really think about and help me and perhaps others… I have been taking Methimazole for HYPERthyroidism since 2005. I started at 10mg twice a day to 5mg to twice a day to 5mg once a day to 1/2 tab of 2.5mg for several years to now taking 1mg (literally cut a 5mg into quarters) for the last 5 years. My levels barely fluctuate. 1.5 to 3.5 at the most. I stopped Gluten and Dairy in 2010 and eat clean. My Antibodies are all in range. Homocysteine is normal. Any thoughts? It has never been suggested that I stop. 🛑
