Went to the dealer for an four-hour oil change and got a $7,500 estimate. $3,700 of it was to replace the turbo cooler hoses. Luckly you made this video . Only cost me $38 for two O rings at the dealer. I only bought those from them cause I needed the part right away. Thanks for the video help a lot.
Good video. My car has the N20 and I've topped up the coolant a couple of times in the past year (which I wasn't expecting to have to do). I'm going to check these o-rings now, thanks.
Thank you for sharing the info and making an effort of shooting the video. I've been adding coolant to my wife's F30 N20 for the past 3 month. Finally I decided to check the common issues online and here we go: you case covers up to 99% of indicated symptoms. Special thanks for providing the links to the parts (O-rings). Al in all with your help I have saved at least $300, considering the rates that BMW shops usually charge. THANK YOU! Just to add some details: 2013 BMW F30 with 76K miles.
Good tip on the brake clean, I hate seeing brake clean being used on rubber and plastic even if it’s non chlorinated I feel like it reduces the life of whatever it touches
Did this and still was leaking, sadly had to take off the whole manifold and replace the turbo coolant lines, was definitely a pain in the ass but did it myself vid was super helpful
Hey Shop Life Fam you should really put out more f30 videos I feel that would offer a lot of value to your channel since IMO that’s the most popular chassis.
There is a coolant sensor on the passenger side of the radiator that also like to slowly leak out of the O-ring. Found ours leaking while doing the oil filter housing gasket.
I have an F30 n26. Maybe you've come across this issue: The car dumps its coolant when the heat is on. Could this be the heater core or the control valve, or something else? I can't tell yet where the leak is, but it's closer to passenger side, you can see some wetness near the water pump but it seems dry, there's no issue when the heat is off.
2014 BMW 328i Low coolant indicator came on three weeks ago, and mechanic topped off coolant couldn’t find any leak. Mechanic also did an oil change the same day. The following morning my car has had blue white smoke coming out the exhaust on start up. Is this coolant or is it oil? The coolant light has never come back on.
Don't neglect it. An overheated engine could leave you stranded or worse destroy your engine. Overheated engines are generally not covered under warranty and worse, are hugely expensive to replace out of warranty.
It also could be the line itself too. The inside of the coolant line gets loose and leaks. From the middle, not the o ring. I'm dealing with that right now.
Did you just replace the line or can you carefully cut the bad rubber off the plastic that goes to the waterproof housing and clamp it on the metal and plastic part in a pinch?
Hi, I have a 330i f30 2018, I got prob got scammed by a seller who sold me the car and my intercooler fluid is always going below the level after a just few days. They also sold me false insurance that does not cover anything. I feel so helpless and sad, when they took the car in they only pressure-tested the engine coolant reservoir, not the other one. And now they are just unwilling to help me further...
It's a little confusing from the way it played out, but did you completely drain the coolant or just some from the turbo coolant lines? I tried this and after a few seconds of coolant leaving my lines I plugged it back up for fear I would be stuck holding a bucket under it while the whole coolant system emptied out; which I just changed... lol
Since 1 month, I have a code that appears in my BMW 528i 2014 (N20) screen mentioning a lack of coolant. Even after adding blue coolant 50/50, after the engine warms up, it mentions the code again in my screen mentioning a lack of coolant and yet the coolant is in min-max of the tank. What to check?
Noticed the EPS shield was cracked…either hit a big bump or someone lifted this car in the wrong spot confusing it with the center jack point. Trust me I know. Guilty. Happened to me. Very costly mistake if EPC control unit gets messed up. $6000 +
Trying get some advice. Any help would be appreciated. Discovered a coolant leak on my 135i. Took to shop for a radiator replacement and after picking up the vehicle started getting transmission issues after driving it for a day or so.
Yeah I have the same repair on my brother in laws. Except the coolant was leaking from the hose to metal fitting part of the line. As well as rust belt car so everything was seized. Turbo out, replace lines, replace all o rings on oil lines. And now the turbo drain line on the block side is leaking. Can't win with this car. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x0oDImQrI7U.html
