2:20 one thing that helps me is remembering a quote I read on a article from a gynecologist. Its roughly this "vaginas/vuvlas are like faces they all have the same basic parts but they all look different." They all are different colors/sizes shapes ect like Keara said, but that doesn't mean that one is better than the other.
About the dysphoria: I think "how hardcore is it that Blood is coming out of me?!" + I validate to myself that this is not just something that happens to cis women, and that's OK.
The cervix changes its shape before, during and after periods hit so putting in a tampon for practice before your period starts will hurt, since the cervix will still be contracted. As the menstrual cycle begins the cervix gets softer, so you'll have a different experience putting in your tampon based on the time of the month. PS:Thanks Keara! :)))
For the discharge I saw it from MDJ she is a gynecologist and she said that the discharge can be brown in color after the periods cuz of the sometimes frozen blood inside the vaheena that comes out with the discharge and it can be yellow too and cream in color too I cant explain everything she said but I feel like you should check her out she is on youtube
If you get itchy after shaving, your skin could be dry.. use a sensitive skin moisturiser to help but check the ingredients to make sure it isn't full of perfumes and crap. E45 cream is usually a good call. Cotton underwear is also a good idea. Just be aware of velcro crotch - when your hair starts growing back and makes some underwear uncomfortable.
@@Eh__ it's when the hair starts growing back and it starts poking through the fibres of your underwear or pads, making them stick to you kind of like velcro. It's super uncomfortable but it will only last a couple of days because it depends on the hairs length.

It’s so good that there are options like this on RU-vid for vaheena owners everywhere. When I was in primary school in sixth grade, they got a woman in to talk to us about periods/vaheenas, as they always do, and she literally told us everything all of us already knew, what a period is, etc. she didn’t mention anything about things that could be harmful, or how to deal with periods in less than ideal situations. It made me so mad, and I couldn’t understand why the school did those things
Some tips I've learned from having a vageen: - If you are ever struggling to get a tampon out because it is too dry if you can, run a bath and chill in there (NO BUBBLES, JUST WATER) until it is easier to pull out :) - You do not need to spend 10 dollars on tampons, they are almost all the same across brands, feel free to try out different kinds, but I find that the cheaper ones work just as well as the expensive ones! - Pads on the other hand do have different textures across brands. I found that the softer the pad, the better. If you choose to go the pad route instead of tampons or even if you just wear them overnight or during light days, you'll want something that won't rub your skin raw. - You'll be wiping a lot more to get the blood off, (especially if you choose to wear pads or period underwear) so I recommend trying baby wipes or even a wet washcloth to wipe instead of dry toilet paper. Again, this is just to keep the skin from getting irritated. - If you want to try inserting a tampon before your period starts, I recommend pushing the cotton part out and simply using the applicator as practice. This way, you don't have a chance of accidentally pushing a tampon in when you aren't bleeding. - There are also menstrual cups that you can try if you aren't a fan of tampons or pads. I don't have experience with these, but there are tons of good sources on brands and how to find the right one for you on RU-vid, TikTok, etc. Stay safe and know that you are amazing and loved!
Yeah, pad brands _absolutely_ make a difference! If some irritate your skin, try a different brand, or try one that uses organic materials as they tend to be really soft and natural on the area.

I think you're right about the not putting in a tampon dry. On top of the pain I believe it can increase the risk of toxic shock cause you can get small cuts up there
I’m a cup user so I actually was actually able to practice putting the cup in while I wasn’t on my period and that helped me a lot and made me feel more confident about cups when I used on my period for the first time. One of the many reasons why I think more people should make the switch!!!
The color and viscosity of the discharge shifts with the different stages of the menstrual circle. While in the beginning it‘s almost dry or very thick and white, then very runny and clear around the days of the ovulation and going back to being thick and white to yellow or dry at the end of the circle.

Aloe is my favorite thing to use when shaving down there. I use the bottle you can get from target that has no fragrance or dyes. Then I use coconut oil after I shave to soften the skin (but aloe is also good for that as well)
Yess! I tend toward yeast infections each time I take an antibiotic so I started asking my provider for something to couteract this and it works! Lesson learned find a healthcare provider you feel comfortable with and ask them all the questions!
Personally I can't just use water down there. I tried it once and after awhile I got a yeast infection (although to be fair it could have been from something else but it went away when I went back to using soap so idk) I also have really bad anxiety and a bit of ocd when it comes to showering and cleaning myself and my thought process for myself is that I use soap everywhere else (also I have sensitive skin) so I should use soap done there. I've not had a yeast infection since and find that a gentle soap that has no fragrance is key for me. Everyone is different and if just using water works for you then that's great but personally I use soap and if youre like me just use a gentle unscented soap and you should be good 👍
Try taking a bath , I’ve found that just plain water with showering isn’t 100% effective but if you soak in a bath and use soap that’s good for you it is amazing 🤙🏼
Every body has a different healthy way of being cleaned, and it's also possible it's an unhealthy body. Not implying anything, just pointing out how much variation there is out there. Maybe it can clue someone in to something they're either worried about or overlooking.

If your period makes you very uncomfortable for whatever reason, whether it be severe cramps, gender dysphoria, ect. you can always talk to your doctor about going on birth control and see if it would be a safe option for you. I went on the pill and my period stopped completely - just one tiny pill each morning, super easy. best decision of my life.

A note on yeast infections: They are mostly caused by bacteria, such as sitting on public toilets, or being exposed to 'parts' of people's bodies that might be playing around down there with you. I had my first and only yeast infection after tmi my boyfriend at the time (years ago) had his fingers down there. To keep yeast infections away, what is most beneficial is to keep anything that might come in contact with that area clean. Don't have someone or even you play around if their hands aren't cleaned first, or other things that might be inserted. These will be magnets for infection.
Not sure if this would be helpful for the dysphoria regarding periods. (I don't know how it would be if you were on testosterone) But if you are on the pill, I was informed by my Dr that new research has said its better to stay on the pill continuously instead of having the breaks (this might be new pills available, I'm not 100% sure) But I thought if you're non binary or new to figuring out you're trans and aren't yet ready/able to go on T maybe taking a pill once a day could be an option? I've not had an actual period for two years (save one time when changing pills) so could be helpful to some? Also great video as always Keara, keep up the good work! 👍🏽

It's normal for a vagina to have the faint scent of female healthy urine. In case you haven't noticed, male urine has a stronger/pungent scent due to male hormone. Female urine is not created to leave behind 'scent marks' to ward off male competition. Female urine is not used to mark territory, so it has a faint smell - if it can be detected at all.

In my school for “sex education” they don’t go over periods that much they tell us the obvious stuff that girls will learn from their moms or female figures or anyone that may have a period and it’s kinda embarrassing asking them about discharge or how it is supposed to smell or look so I’m actually really happy I found this video because even though I’ve been a teenager for a few years there’s still a lot of stuff I don’t understand so thank you for just being open and talking about it
4:18 YES omg I thought I was the only one 😭. My discharge usually doesn't have a scent (and if it does it isn't strong or very noticeable) but a couple days after my period I notice my vagina and discharge totally have a different and weird scent...it just goes away after 2-3 days though so idk

Whhaaat!! I have the exact same story with putting in my first tampon! I also put in a large one and I could still feel it, and thought it was normal. Later when I asked my mom she freaked out and said thats a large one! hahaha Later I tried it with a small one and it felt sooo much better. But, before then I had only had guy crushes. Your identification is really all up to you. If you feel like you’re only having crushes on women right now then you can call yourself a lesbian! But if you’re still confused ask yourself if you truly liked the boys in the past or if you only felt pressured to, since many lesbians dealt with comphet.
Sexuality is fluid so don't worry about it. It can change as you grow older and such, it isn't 100% set for a lot of people. Focus on what you feel in the present and not what you used to feel
